I knew this guy 25 years ago when I was a Police Officer in Liverpool. His Dad Stan ran the local club and Mick would come in after doing a gig. He would often slip his dad a wad of notes and I know he did heaps for charity as well. The salt of the earth is Mick Miller - and a very funny artist with great timing
Have to tell you...this sketch on a tape I was given by the man himself, got me through a lot of surgery and serious illness when I was younger. Can't tell you how overjoyed I am to see it posted here. Thank you so much x
Brilliant 😂. And it's subtly different from the start when he 'poured himself a toast' - then you could tell the character was trying to think up reasons to drink. By the end there was no trying! All done so subtly. Layers and layers of funny.
Take me back to "The Comedians" when comics were not only funny but gifted. This is a man at the very top of his craft one of the funniest comics ever.
None of that self indulgent non humour. Oh look at me aren’t I clever and oh so PC! Genuinely funny which is what a comedian is supposed to be, and not some smarmy self appointed social commentator.
I agree. It's always a shame when comics feel they have to bring in swearing. Watch Michael McIntyre's first live show on DVD and there's hardly a swear word all the way through... the next one there's far more. And of course, comedians often get famous on family friendly shows, so have to make their jokes "family friendly" and that's how they get famous and then people go and see them live and it's a whole different matter. If I had the talent to be a stand up, my difference would be that I'd not swear.
No you're quite right, much better that comedians exclusively make jokes about alcoholism and hating kids ey ;) I'm being mildly facetious but what a fucking stupid notion, talk about choosing a shit hill to die on
@ruthtelling9237, my son and his mate have a podcast, just started it, and his mate did an interview with Mick Miller, it's just been downloaded. If you are interested the link is as follows:The Mick Miller Special - Gen-X Men Podcast with Daz & Ant - Episode THREE
Saw him do this live a couple of weeks ago, explaining how he thought of it. Brilliant piece of comedy. The whole night was The Comedians, and I haven't laughed out loud like that in ages. Fantastic!!
What a legend. I remember growing up in the North when the Comedians was on in the 70's and seeing Mick just made me laugh before he even said anything - in a good way of course! Great guy, great comic who knows how comedy works. Good luck to you lad
Me and my son Joshua and our family saw Mick perform this sketch to a packed theatre on the P and O Azura ship and we fell about, he brought the house down. The next day we saw him on deck and had a beer with him and he was exactly the same off stage as on and he stood his round at the bar, buying me a Peroni and educated my 18 year old son that Smirnoff is as good as Grey Goose which will save me a few quid going forward. Top bloke as we say in these parts
Bumped into Mick in Minehead Butlins in 2018. He took time to stop and chat with me for a while. Total respect for this man. Cant wait to see his show again in 2019.
Hahahaha, this is one of the best comedy acts man, i'm 68 and from Everton, and the red indian scouser cracks me up every time. Angonamo, That's pure class Mick lad, This fella is one of the bets comedians that ever was. God bless you....xx
I remember working 18 years ago door to door sales in poulton le fylde near Blackpool where I once lived and Mick Miller opened the door. Lovely man and very nice big house with a tv on the wall in the kitchen.
i had the misfortune to work the door on an all ticket gig where mick was the comedian, sadly he was late,i had no idea, and he was wearing a hat,i wouldn't let the poor fella in cos he had no ticket,"i'm the f*cking comedian ffs"..yeah whatever mate the place is full of em f"ck off said i..he took his hat off and i spotted the error of my ways,he spent 20minutes ripping me to pieces on the stage, had a good laugh afterwards but i was booed everytime i appeared upstairs for the rest of the night, great, funny bloke.
