@@AE86FTS Mind you, Fujiwara says the same thing as Ishigawa to Miko afterwards and she accepts it. Strangely, in the dub, they actually describe it perfectly: the dub has Ishigawa saying "You attract flies with honey rather than vinegar" which is really Miko's problem because she really does think tough love is the best solution to everything but then caves in when someone treats her kindly. (In the manga, chapter 174, Fujiwara tells Ishigawa that Miko is so easy to fool because she's a sucker for compliments and actually puts it to test not realizing that she's starting to him and they have a lot in common. D'awww...Team Miko 100%).

Like for example, Iino's grudge on Ishigami begun with him pushing her away when she wanted to support him a long time ago, which hurt her feelings. And yet Ishigami never remembers that and pretends as if Iino hates him because of the rules.
Ishigami in general is very wishy-washy with Miko. He complains that she scolds him, but when Miko later starts treating him nicely, he is constantly trying to avoid her, cause he's scared and doesn't know how to approach her. In the newest lightnovel Ishigami even admits, that when Miko scolds him, he feels more comfortable with her. When it comes to their relationship, Ishigami is filled with so much cope and denial, that only direct flirt from Iino can get his real feelings out in the open.

The best part is season 4 is going to be very centric with those two especially in the first few episodes of season 4. Even better we are halfway through the manga. The movie stops at chapter 151. It will pick up at chapter 152 after winter break.
And the story goes downhill after that. If what I heard about the later chapters of the manga are, the plot begins to fall apart and certain character's make questionable decisions

Ishigami is really one of the best characters ever, if he got a spin-off series it would be so worth
This show makes me miss highschool so much. I was on a lot of after school teams and I stayed after school a lot too. The friendships you build doing after school activities are like nothing else you'll ever experience. Not to mention the romances.
This is a message to anyone in or approaching high school. Learn from Ishigami and join a club or some kind of team that stays after school. It doesn't even matter if you're not interested in it, just do it. I was really poor in high school and it was difficult to get rides because my dad couldn't always afford to pick me up. I'd find friends to carpool with and even got rides from my teachers before. It was embarassing but I'm glad I didn't let it stop me. High school would have been an entirely bad experience without staying after school.

I still remember my high school days. Good times. I was in marching band. Now here I am 5 years as a 21 year old unemployed community college dropout.
And guess what my highschool days are over now , I just have to give exams and then bam adult life will kick in. Alas I did absolutely nothing during my highschool days , the memories which I made are all me struggling to socialize and skipping school cause I hate everyone. But now everything feels good when the end is near gotta I wish I got to live through this hell for another year.

Actually, it was only one time, on the Cultural Festival. All other times guys were just normally flirting with her and Ishigami was angry and jealous over that.

Ishigami is a very resilient character being able to put up with someone like that all the time.
Many of the times he tried to help her by setting a better example of herself & even went as far as to humiliate himself to cover for her.

They're cute. Look at these two messing with each other. They would make a good couple. They like each other, they simply don't say it.
That's pretty much the case. Ishigami and Miko are written in a rather experimental manner. Basically, they have a hidden backstory/character traits that show in their behavior, but aren't really explained til the end or after the end.

Which is to say, Ishigami main theme is that he "closed his eyes", which actually refers to his denial and ability to mentally block out what he doesn't want to see. The truth is that they, well. Used to have a thing in middle school.
Miko hates him in the way that someone who was almost his ex would hate him.

@AzuraRaijin Chika is also called the heroine of the story as well. lol Also it said "secret" not "true" for them, as in unexpected additional pair (so "secret") and in the last volume it labels them as "secondary" protagonist and herione. Chika is still listed as heroine by the end.

You have no idea how wrong you are. While initially they seem to have more of a chance of getting along(as much as they cringe over it for how distasteful and ironic the idea seems to them), by the end of season 3, Kaguya and Shirogane really shined together and more or less continue to do so.

I remember that when Iino did that I need you and then the next page was them two working in the student council and the cycle restarts. I was like well shit. You know Aka wanted to get the series and maybe come back to those two later on. I mean did that one chapter light novel about those two. Still it got me interested how Iino became a party girl alcoholic. Where she mentally broke after being so serious and becoming again a party girl.

After reading the whole manga most of the funny parts dosen't hit like before, now whenever i see Ishigod all i feel is pain...
His growth was beautiful, but my guy didn't deserve to be left harbroke, then again, belive me ir not, i once had gone trough the exact same situation as Ishigami, i mean, there was a girl i liked back when i was 15~16, we where close friends but she never felt any romantic feelings for me, so i decided to make myself a better person, while failing to understand that. In the end a comitted a mistake that Ishigami actully didn't, now i no longer speak with her...
Sounds childish, but i think it's a important part of our growth process, Ishigami is an insanly well writen and belivable character and i would hug him and thank him for the lesson he was for many...
The best in the show
In reality Iino would have been the one girl who actually got slapped by a dude. Because in real life, girls like that in high school are always hated by everyone, and often there's always at least one dude who absolutely can't stand her and eventually snaps. Saw it in high school myself, and after working in a high school for a while I saw it again.
Would that truly happen in a elite school with a bunch of children from rich and powerful family?
Sure she can be harass way harder than what we can see in the Manga but not to the point she will get slap without repercussion (especially when Shinomaya is there)

I think it's implied that Iino would have been seriously bullied in middle school if Ishigami hadn't been helping her behind the scenes and therefore not letting her, or the rest of the student body, realise how unpopular she truly was. I feel like if she had been more openly bullied it would've snowballed as more students joined in on it.
Well I wouldn't be surprised if Miko will make a Oshi No Ko cameo someday under the name Miko Ishigami

No he doesn't, lmao. Iino was extremely improtant for Ishigami's character development and a lot of his ideals he got from her. Ishigami even admits in his short story that he is deeply in love with Iino and wants to date her even if she doesn't love him back. Also Iino is the only character who has normal romantic feelings for him.

I prefer this ship... becuz in some cases, the more you hate someone the more you know about them...
and the more you know about someone, you can bond easily when things got rough (ex. when you see your rival suffering you tend to sympathize with them but you of course, hides it with telling an insult first-this more of a fictional setting and rarely happens irl 😅)

See, they used to get along in middle school but had a falling out, half due to her emotional fragility and half due to Ishigami pushing her away to protect her from the fallout of the Ootomo incident. In short, Miko doesn't hate him like a rival, she hates him more like an ex-girlfriend would hate someone. If you pay attention in the manga, even before getting the heart keychain, she already acts jealous at various points. Ishigami, for his part, is a pro at denial, lies, and mental blocks. He notices way more of everything than he lets on.
The writing style for this all, however, is very odd. A lot of it was explained after the story ended, but you could pick up on it if you paid attention to their behavior.
Nice and all but I want him to stay with the Senpai. I like supportive girls.

She doesn't want to stay with him, and he's more acting out a desire for a romantic relationship with her than actually wanting one and has an unresolved crush on Miko from middle school that he heavily represses.
Its funny because they ended up as a couple.
