Missed the opportunity to play Neon by John Mayer on the neon strings

I was really impressed with the neon strings. I didn't expect them to sound as good as they did. The gold ones also sounded great.

The golds do sound the best but I was surprised at how nice the neon sounds. I figured the gimmick was all in how they look but in each setting they were in my top two.

I’ve actually used the neon strings for over a year and they’re really fun to look at when you have LED lights. They get that cool glowy neon effect in blue light. The only downside to them is that the paint eventually comes off where you strum. 10/10 recommend.

Gold strings on a blacked out strat with gold hardware would be a fun build, would look nice on a black and gold sg too

Finally! Someone who does comparisons correctly: Clean settings that don't change, all pickup positions, same licks. Thank You!

I think my favorites were definitely the boomers and the optima gold strings. The boomers just sounded absolutely massive while the Optima strings sounded very clear and resonant.

I really like the sound of the neon strings. I wasn't expecting a whole lot from them either

I remember working in a music store when Elixir strings came out. They were covered in a thin layer of Teflon (I think) so your fingers didn't actually touch the metal. They weren't as bright as brand new strings but basically sounded like strings with a few hours on them but basically forever. I put them on all the wall hangers and guitars I hardly ever played. They lasted for years. They completely blew my mind at the time.

I thought the Dr Neon strings sounded best. Brighter and louder or more present. Distinctively different from the others. And that was a surprise. The gold strings sounded a bit more balanced between strings - but just barely. I think it may be what you are looking for in the type of music you're playing that determines what strings. If you are really into stretching notes or have a real light touch - then the 7s come into play. All told - I like these kinds of comparisons.

I've actually used the neon strings for a little while now and I'm pretty satisfied with them. They're awesome with LEDs shining on them

Personally, I think the 7s sounded great. They're much more dynamic and nuanced than the heavier strings.

My top two were the neons and the gold, the golds were clearly superior but i was genuinely suprised by how good the neons were..

They also work wonders when playing Rocksmith, neon colors match up to the in game strings perfectly

Nice comparison. Most people don't understand just how short auditory memory is but the length of your short playing samples are really great. Just long enough to get a good grasp on the sound but not too long.

On my tablet without headphones, I was surprised to find the 0.013" gage and 0.007" gage packs to be the best sounding. The gold strings were third place for me, while the other two sounded like worn out old strings. Based on this comparison, I'd probably try 0.008" or 0.009" gage on a Strat style guitar if I had one, heavier than the 0.007" gage just to help prevent unintentionally bending strings.

I remember the first time you tried the 13's. And I agree, the gold strings have a little extra something that I also noticed when Davey504 put a set on his bass. I love your work, Tyler

I've used the neon strings for a while. Originally for myself when I started playing Rocksmith since the colors are the same, and now on my daughters guitar.

Gold sounded great, but I was surprised the neon sounded so similar. Definitely something to check out, plus each would look great on the right guitar.

The Boomer 13s were way too dark for me. I thought the neon strings sounded best overall. And I felt the 7s sounded much more lively than I thought they would.
