I think it depends , Microbiology has a great scope outside India ,even a student with Master's are earning in lakhs per month . I am interested in reasearch and I want to go for microbiology ,do the bsc and msc here in India and then apply for internship or phd abroad . There are so many fields in microbiology and each field has so many jobs .But in in India I guess being a microbiologist and settling down after masters is not possible ,In India everyone wants an engineer or Doctor . Life sciences have no value.

Only software engineering, medical, MBA has value here. Else prepare for government jobs whole life.
In CSIR NET also there is No unit dedicated to Microbiology.
Micro students have to start everything from beginning.
And even after clearing CSIR NET Biotech and Micro Assistant Professors do not get salary like Aided Assistant Professors since Biotech and Micro are Unaided in many colleges.
Many Students like me didn't know it before.
Micro is aided in Mumbai university. How much does an aided professor earn ?
I am seeing this for many years...Microbiologist are earning 15k-20k per month while working in qc, r&d, production lab....their workload is very much...more risky than any other profession...dealing with multidrug resistant pathogens...unsocial life...no holidays...no rest...and at the end they are just getting 15-20k in hand....this much amount one can earn while working in a BPO or call centre after passing 12th😂....
Sad truth...now I regret choosing this degree...nd choosing MSc spcly ... which I could have not done aftr bsc and instead kuch aur karleti.... wasting my time n money...
@@sumanadey17 in india if you want to be financially satisfied more early then make your career in academics even after taking microbiology...neet faculty or professor (Private jobs)....although microbiologists are financially satisfied in abroad.

Well said... I also worked in qc deptt. I've gone through each and every situation from heavy work load to toxic environment... I was doing fine there but was not happy with the work... I have been good in academics but I never expected that life after masters so i quit the job. I also switched to another company but felt the same . Now i am completely clueless...and still figuring out.

You do internship in a hospital and work in a private hospital for maximum 2 to 3 years and you come to know that there is a post of microbiologist in any lab or government hospital, then you can apply. To get higher salary, you have to get more and more experience because the one who has more experience is preferred.
