Not only an amazing musician, a nice guy,, Whilst walking my dog a few weeks ago bumped into him, I totally went fanboy and he pulled out a pick and he gave it to me. He has no idea what that meant. Back to the song, Its gorgeous.
All These Days is just fking phenomenal. It sums up these past two yrs so well. The chorus brings tears to my eyes. For me its your best work since New Town Velocity. Im 62 and you remind me what music can mean. Thank you JM.
The guy just can't do no wrong ...another great track . Shame the young bands of today can't come up with anything as creative as a 50 Yr old Johnny Marr !! Superb once again 👍👍
There's a lot of creative music coming out from younger artists from indie, punk to mainstream to metal. Amyl and the sniffers, wolf Alice, tame impala, that's just three bands with members under 30 that are as creative as many old artists.
Nonsense statement, there is loads of good creative music around today if you know where to look. Love Johnny, Call The Comet in particular, but there’s nothing particularly creative about this song. It’s just regular Dad rock.

I just HAVE to take my effing hat off to this guy. SO MANY DECADES making great music and HE'S STILL GOT MORE TALENT IN HIS LITTLE FINGER THAN MOST GEN Y AND GEN Z MUSICIANS HAVE IN THEIR WHOLE BODY.
I think that's unfair to say that and I would think Johnny would agree with me. Johnny works, us a fan of with and praises many younger artists. Johnny deserves respect and praise but at the critique of others?
@@glennoc8585 - I know I was being hyperbolic in Johnny's praise... but some Gen Y & Gen Z artists & fans DO deserve to be taught that most stylistic conventions & popular compositional features in contemporary mainstream pop/rock actually became mainstream in the 1980's & 1990's & that they stand on the shoulders of giants.
There are some awesome artists today, and the 80s had its share of crap. I was there. We only hear the good stuff now, so it seems like it was some magical era, but I remember at the time bemoaning the death of "real music".
@@BrianBrayMedia - I agree on all counts because I was there as well & because by definition nostalgia only uses rose-colored eyeglasses HOWEVER I'll also say that, anecdotally at least, it seems to me there was a MUCH HIGHER share of quality music being released during the 80's than is the case today. It may be mostly nostalgia & tunnel vision on my part but it definitely seems that way to me.
If this what the new album will sound like... album of the year ! Funny how Johnny Marr’s music never dissapoints. He has been an inspiration ever since I heard THAT band ;-)
Yes, Johnny is perennial and has an uncanny knack of creating rich new music with shimmer and lustre. Following his career is a bit like walking through a mountain range,-each time you get to the top of a peak, you spot another higher mountain ahead with his name on it. Enjoy his talent while we have him, he is a unique part of tha UK's living cultural heritage. Thanks for the music JM
This song is loaded full of so many layers and it still sounds clean, not too busy. One of those songs that could put you in a trance, no doubt about it.
Johnny marrs music and lyrics are medicinal for me…… so relevant !!!! His interviews are so honest , he comes across as a normal guy feet on the ground…. With such an incredible gift ????! Thank god for johnny marr One love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dam this guy is awesome! Heard a bit of him in the Post-Punk era, Very nice progressive Goth style, yet clean and technical, best 12 stringer I have heard. Mike Rutherford, og GENESIS!
Sublime... Johnny marr rapidly becoming my favourite artist..discovered off the back of Morrissey, however this guy has equal if not more talent 😮 Although I'll never lose love for that Morrissey track "I know it's over" pls pls listen We need to spread the word to educate these poor gen Z, thought I had it bad as a millennial 😂😂
I paid to purchase this music from I tunes to transfer to CD as although I have good gear CD still has the edge for me. This said everybody else just gets it for free?I have always appreciated that musicians need to earn a living and I’m more than good with this and Johnny deserves every luxury he enjoys. But what about upcoming bands they don’t stand a chance when music is for free and desposable and touring is out the window at the moment Johnny knows that is where the money is now . Johnny is an extraordinary talent.h
I'll take free for listening, just as in the days of radio, but when I really love something like this, I go and spend the money to support the artist. It is money joyfully spent.
Johnny Marr needs to collaborate - he's no lyricist/vocalist. He needs someone to give his music a rough edge, obvious example being Morrissey all those years ago. This is a backing track waiting for a catalyst.
not bad vocalist.....and music is not bad, but different....he can write songs...morrissey was poet, not singer.....but the smiths will go down as one of best band of the 80's
This EP may not be his best work but Johnny Marr has very catchy vocal lines, I'd argue they're more catchy than Morrissey's. I agree he isn't the best lyricist tho. And he has very, very stiff drums. But the bands he's been in SINCE The Smiths... which of them sounds better than Johnny Marr's solo stuff?
His musical arrangements are so fucking amazing he doesn't need lyrics. I would love to hear an instrumental release with his band, like Peter Frampton did earlier this year so his guitar techniques could really shine. But he wouldn't have to do covers because he can write, & I bet he's got tons of demos in the vault. But IMO he can sing better than most of the guitar legends.
I know what you mean. Most of that kind of guitar playing was with the Smiths though, since the 90s (at least) with Electronic he's been a lot more minimal. I've liked a lot of it, he is able to do more with less. At the same time though, songs like this have incredibly potential...it's ALMOST there for me. Like the prechorus needed more emphatic singing to drive into the chorus. And the main riff is catchy sure, but it's repetitive in a way that leaves me thinking "OK, ok, I've got THAT sentence, so what's the next sentence? Is there anything else to add to that?". In a way, I do feel like sometimes musically he has forgotten some of the lush vocabulary we got in his earlier works (like the real jazzy, cool chords he would often use in the Smiths) or the totally strange tunings of Headmaster Ritual. Things which stop you and make you think..."Hold on a minute, what in the WORLD did he just play? What note was that? How do you even DO that on a guitar?!".
I'm buying this. Period. Every song is a masterpiece.
Not only an amazing musician, a nice guy,, Whilst walking my dog a few weeks ago bumped into him, I totally went fanboy and he pulled out a pick and he gave it to me. He has no idea what that meant. Back to the song, Its gorgeous.
He carries those picks with him because he's always remembered what it's like to be a fan. Wonderful, talented man.
Guitar nerdy question now: what gauge pick was it? Johnny is a phenomenon
@@markb9419 I can send you a photo bud, I have no idea mate or I’ll ask my colleague who is a musician. I’ll let ya know

Another masterpiece from Johnny Marr.
Talking with my shadow
Escape a sensory
Somebody dare tomorrow
Tomorrow endlessly
Switching through my channel
I'm a real machine
Calling me to follow
A detuned memory
Climb in through the static
Just how it need to be
Future dares tomorrow
Call my history
Look through every window
Walk through any door
Now don't you know I never
Saw the world so clear before
In these days
Life is all
Perfect stone
In these days
Holding on
For so long
Waking with my shadow
I heard it call me
We will find tomorrow
Somewhere where we can be
Walking through the static
Dreaming endlessly
Another way tomorrow
Believing is sensory
In these days
Life is all
Perfect stone
In these days
Holding on
For so long
In these days

Talking with my shadow
Escape the sensory
Some other day tomorrow
Tomorrow endlessly
Switching through my channels
I’m a real machine
Calling me to follow
A detour memory
Climbing through the static
Just how I need to be
Future daze tomorrow
Called my history
Look through every window
Walk through any door
Now don’t you know
I never saw the world so clear before
In these days
Life is all perfect storms
In these days
Holding on
For so long
Drinking with my shadow
I heard it calling me
We will find tomorrow
Somewhere where we can be
Walking through the static
Dreaming endlessly
Another way tomorrow
Leave the sensory

Your music is so unique, so powerful, so transcending. I am always (to steal a word from Stevie Nicks) entranced when I hear any of your songs.
The kind of song to give me hope in dark days.
Love the lyric especially “In these days, holding on for so long.” Ahhhh love the Marr!
