The depth of compassion Naomi’s fellow passenger showed to Larry and the Judd family is beyond measure. Not only was the letter eloquently written but gentleman took the time to comfort a husband and family of people he had barely even heard of. While I’m mourning the loss of Naomi and the heartbreak of her family as so many other are doing, I praise the stranger who took the time to open his heart as well❤🙏🏻🙏🏻

Terrie Severson, I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts and words. You spoke truthfully and admirably. When hearing Naomi's husband Larry retelling a story / email about a stranger on a plane ride with Naomi and how she enriched his life for meeting her, it made me briefly pause, because I had this feeling in my gut that those two strangers's meeting was not a coincidence. How odd that she took her life the next day knowing full well that she would be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame the following day, would of wanted to kill herself,unless she was listening to the demons within her head. I do not think that kind and eloquent gentleman who sat and conversed with Naomi, was perhaps, not truly of this world. I know that is a stretch in logical thinking, but who knows the full dialog between this stranger and Naomi. Perhaps because she wrestled the demons she thought were haunting her, God sent an angel to try and talk her out of what was in her mind to do.
She must of thought hard and for some time to plan this demise.
Who knows except her and her maker what those thoughts were, but as I listened to Larry telling of this email of a gentleman passenger who just happen to sit by her, and just happened to recieve a business card from her to give to Larry is not in my opinion, coincidence. I think he was an angel in disguise to talk with Naomi and try to talk her out of what surely she planned at some point to do to end the demons persecuting her mind and body. This gentleman wanted to let Larry know personally, of how he was loved by Naomi and how she touched his life as well. I am hopeful that this "angel" walked her home at the time of her passing. Rest with the Angel's Naomi.

So many times they've saved my life. My Angel mama has visited me too. I've been physically touched by my mama and other Angel's quite often. I've read that a coincidence was God's way of creating a miracle. Angel's walk among us every day. At times they'll do anything to get our attention. Larry is truly the unsung hero…. I have loved the Judds all these years and have closely followed all 3 of them. However managing those 3 women’s huge personalities and so much conflict (at least from my perspective) was no small task. He really is a gem and I enjoyed hearing him share this email. He really loved Naomi and the girls … and what a blessing he has been to this family. RIP Naomi
That's exactly what I thought about as I watched them all on stage together. Larry hung in there, obviously, during both good times and very deep dark times. What a special spouse and step father he truly was.

When Wynonna said I have loved you since I was 16, I teared up. He was a dad for her & Ashley & that alone says alot abt him
Well, he inherited her huge estate, and the daughters got nothing, so he can console himself with all that money.
Naomi and her daughter Wynonna, had a huge impact on mine and my mother's love of music. When the song, "Love Can Build A Bridge," was the first country song I taught my 3 year old Niece Lydia. When hearing of this loss, my heart hurt for her and her family. What could I do, some stranger the family had never met yet had a huge influence on my life? I did what any other Judd loving individual would do, had a sing along party with my mom and daughter, three generations being touched by the duo that knew how to share their love to everyone through their music. Thank you for sharing you love of people and music Naomi. I pray for peace for your family and you.
Naomi's death is tragic. Yet she continues to teach us the importance of mental health and giving our support to those who struggle with depression. Rest is peace, Naomi!

My heart aches for your family. I’ve suffered from severe depression since I was a child wanted to take my life so many times but don’t have the guts to do it. I’m 81 years old and have just started talking about it to my family. I’ve kept inside me all my life afraid to says anything to anyone. Didn’t want anyone to think I was crazy. I will always keep your family in my thoughts and in my heart. 😢

I lost my mom a year ago last October. Lost my dad in 2006 . I told my brothers were orphans now . I was a daddys girl we were into music all our lives. He had a band the. Blue Jays in Minot North Dakota. First band band to play for the Hostafest. We both played piano and dad played guitar. I took him to the nursi g homes and intertained there . He got alzhimer s the last 5 years of his life.

I have been a fan of The Judd's for all these years and was profoundly saddened to hear of the passing of Naomi Judd. Jane thank you for sharing this. I too suffer from profound depression ! It's a real struggle everyday ! Nobody wants to wake up and say geez I feel like I want to be sad. Just the opposite. The worst part for me is I know how lucky I am to be here, and I have a great family. And all I really want is to be present in their lives. Material things are so unimportant to me. I just want to be able to function normally. I've tried many different medications therapy you name it. When I'm having a decent day I feel blessed. I know everyone goes through bouts of sadness, but when it's almost every single day it takes such a toll on us....but, in spite of the heartache depression brings I'll always be so thankful that God is with us always.....God bless Naomi and her beautiful family. Ashley's interview hit me right in the gut as she struggled to let the world know just a very small amount of what her poor mother went through. As someone who's struggled with severe depression most of my life I was sobbing as I listened to Ashley tell her mom's story. For those of you who have loved ones and have suffered the way Naomi did and you don't understand why your loved one just can't "snap out of it and just let it go" then watch Ashley's story with Diane Sawyer then you just might get an inkling of the kind of very sad life that Naomi had and how she could not help herself as hard as she tried. God bless the Judd family and her wonderful and amazing husband. Naomi you are finally free from this horrific disease. You are finally free and can truly rest in peace.

I've never heard of anyone saying mental health is a disease?
I suffer with mental illnesses. I saw the DS interview with Ashley & it struck a chord with me as well. Hearing what she said, I could only cry.
I cried for Ashley, Wynonna, Larry & the rest of the Judd Family.
I cried for the many, many, many victims that these illnesses created.
I cried for the people that suffer in silence, afraid of the stigmas society has created.
I cried for those that suffer out loud & with help, because even then, we can still become victims that did not make it through. Just like poor Diana Ellen 'Naomi' Judd & the like that die everyday with treatment-resistant depression.
Finally, I cried for myself. Knowing what I am capable of & what I am not. I receive treatment for my Mental Illnesses. But still, I feel that blackness inside of me. Sometimes, it takes over & I feel a great loss of myself, my soul, & everything else that makes me... me.
For anyone that reads this- even if you think it's not worth it, please look into getting yourself help. It may just be the best thing that you can do for you & your family.

There are people who suffer from depression who do not respond to traditional treatment. They become frustrated about treatment because of their experiences. However, there are new treatments - not antidepressants - that might help. Be assertive with your provider and let them know you want results. Depression can lead to suicide. Take it seriously.
The Judds will forever be one of my favorite country singers. There songs helped me in many ways. My prayers go out to family and friends as they remember to cherish Naomi.

They always stood by Naomi in her illness, hoping things would get better for her, and that takes a Great deal of strength and patience. I agree! I believe that it was not by accident that Naomi was seated on the airplane by that particular gentleman that day. Plus Naomi gave him her husband's card for a reason that was only known (at the moment) to both her and God.

To the Judd family: it is so apparent there is so much love within your family. Which makes this loss all the more difficult, because Naomi chose to leave this world, and yet you know with all your heart that she loves you fiercely. It’s that love and the love of other family members, friends, and especially, the Lord, that will comfort you in the coming days.

This tragic end to such a beautiful woman hit a chord straight to my heart. About 10 years ago I struggles with suicidal thoughts and even planned it out but did not follow thru. When suicidal thoughts enter a person's mind they drown out every other thought of life, no matter how bad or how beautiful the person's life truly is. The pain and feeling like your at the bottom of the ocean struggling to make to the surface for air but it gets further and further away it seems. So I understand a bit about Naomi's fragile mind. And to the family she left behind I'm so sorry she couldn't hang on. I do not believe that suicide is selfish like a lot of people believe. I believe that people who have struggled with the thoughts and followed thru with the event are in such deep, debilitating pain that they just want it to stop. You can't escape your mind. And it's very, very hard to fight the enemy when the enemy is you. Naomi was beautiful. The Judd's were a part of my music I grew up with. They are part of my respect and admiration for country music. And I have loved watching Ashley's movies. She is such a talented actress. My heart goes out to both of them. And I hope and pray Ashley gets the help she needs after her trauma. May God's hand guide you to better truth and understanding. May God give you all peace in your hearts. I lost my husband to suicide in 1995. It was a gunshot wound to the head. I had 3 young children and had to move forward. I had no idea what to do so I took 1 day at a time. We had more bad days than good. It was so frightening. But we’re still here and our family is still intact and in a good place finally. I am truly sorry for your loss. I know how painful and confusing it is. Wishing you strength in the days ahead.

I have been so upset about the death of the immensely beautiful, talented, wonderful and precious Naomi Judd. She courageously fought hard against the depths of hell that depression and it's horrible sidekick, anxiety, causes to the most vulnerable!
I was so happy that she wrote her book about it and I really believed she had conquered the black hole! She helped so many people with her beautiful songs and her very presence! And she was such a good person!! I naively wish I could have somehow helped her to find a better treatment because I did! I can't shake this empty feeling of her absence!! My heart hurts that Noami passing, love hearing her singing with her daughter Wyonna. Just prayers being sent out to you Larry and Wyonna and Ashley. We will miss her dearly, but never forgotten. Heart hurts that she was suffering, and that she have ended it so it wasn't going to burden no one else. But she was no burden to no one, but in her mind she thought it was to those she loved. I know because, I also had a friend that thought about being a burden to family and friends. She finally passed away in hospital on March 29,22. So my dearest friends I mean that to 💜💜💜 I also lost my mother in January 23,21 so I know the feeling. My sister also found her that she had passed.

I know now, that suffering in silence only helps to exacerbate the problem. It allows the disease to grow, and take a stronger hold on our already weary spirits. I grew up listening to the judds I had their book love can build a bridge. I went to the farewell concert when the judds split. And so badly wanted to go to the reunion concert but I was pregnant and on bed rest. She will forever be in our hearts and our prayers goes out to the family. My heart is absolutely shattered over the loss of Naomi Judd.. I too struggle horribly with depression so I understand her pain. I have always looked to The Judds for comfort. Growing up I had a tough childhood but every good memory I have The Judds were playing in the background. When I'm down the most I have always turned them on to lift me up..sometimes having a good cry before their music pulled me up. One has been mentioned. I graduated from Morehead State University with a masters degree in education with a minor in vocal performance. But the one experience that we have that I especially share with Naomi is that I also suffer from a mental illness known as Uni-polar disorder. My love for Naomi stems from the fact she was an honest mouthpiece for all who suffer with mental health issues. It's hard for people to understand if one doesn't have an oozing ailment or flesh eating bacteria...for many people seeing is believing. Naomi used her popularity and intellect in spreading the reality and the truth concerning this subject. With a lifetime of personal, physical, and emotional struggles Naomi never lost her purpose in life. She lost her life to a disease, but she never lost her purpose in life. I'm not sure why Naomi's death has hit my heart so hard. The more I hear about her life, the more compelled I am to learn more. She was interested, from a medical perspective about her mental illness, researched it, talked to doctors and tried her best to take the proper action to overcome it. She fought hard for the sake of her family and wanted to be able to help others. I have no doubt she did help others through her honesty and determination. I wish she could have received the help she needed. I have thought about this so much - which mystifies me since I had never listened to their music and had not known anything about them. Strange how we are drawn to certain people and their stories.

Deepest condolences 🙏🏻 I had spoke with your Mom at a charity event at The Breakers a little over a month ago. I was hesitate to approach her but, did anyway. I had met her years ago when she was vacationing on Sunset Key in Key West and several times we were on the boat together and would chat on the ride over. I lived on the island and and like many who lived there , was so captivated by her warmth and kindness. I said to her, I got old and you’re still stunningly beautiful, she smiled and said , thank you so much for remembering me. Like so many fans, my heart grieves with you all🙏🏻💗

I am deeply saddened but this has opened my eyes to those suffering depression. My husband showed signs in January and has been to the hospital 4 times. Where I live it is hard to get into see doctors for help. I love hearing your songs but my favorite 2 are “Grandpa tell me about the good old days” and “Love can build a bridge”. I know Wynonna has a great voice and I pray that she will continue to sing and remember your mother is listening from heaven.

While I am not a religious person, I have no doubt that the stranger who sat next to Naomi on the plane was there to support her while she traveled home on her own the day before she passed. RIP Naomi. Sing with the angels. My deepest condolences to the entire family. I have an older sister who suffered from mental illness most of her life. She passed away 14 years ago at the age of 48. I understand the pain of this illness.

I feel so much pain for her family I can't imagine as a mother making sure my child finds my dead body and the day before my other child and me we're going to be having a huge celebration I know about depression very well I battle it daily but I'm still here because my children I could never imagine putting them in that situation
I worked as her day to day manager for 3 yrs on the last tour and she would get so excited and energized thinking about the staging and song list and of course, her wardrobe changes. I watched her slip money to our waittress at The Cheesecake Factory who was a single grandma raising her daughter's kids or greeting our military vets in airports when they had no idea who they were speaking to as she'd talk to them about PTSD. And the man always by her side, Larry. Peace be with the family and my sincere condolences.

One day sitting in my front porch, my aunt , who also lost a son to suicide, says. “you know Beverly, sometimes this world is just too hard for some of us. I hope they are resting in peace.” Maybe that’s the case with Naomi, to her, this world was just too hard for her. No shame no blame just is.
I've been following this and I have experienced depression. Much love to the family, I am certain many feel closer to all of you and thank-you for being so honest and openly sharing. I think it brings many people to care so much more about depression and losses like yours. I am sure many others are like me whos eyes tear up witnessing the news of beautiful Naomi Judd.
