I like watching this series because when I played WC3 originally I was incredibly young, and didn't really understand how RTS games worked very well. I thought along the lines of massing an army of units that are expensive, didn't really think about what countered what, and would buy heroes that I thought were coolest like Warden or Crypt Lord. Best armies in my mind was something like a Cryptlord with 3/3 Frost Wyrms because they're strong, can hit air and ground, and can fly! What is better! While it is undeniable that you could actually learn how to play, and the largest barrier was that I was a silly kid, the era reminds me of gaming back when you had to figure stuff out for yourself a lot more. That you could only really learn through watching others and asking in a lot more intimate ways than through reddit posts or guides online from clean hubs instead of some weirdo individually hosted sites with a bunch of nonsense on it and some good tips interspersed. Nobody really knew what the hell we were doing in my friends group. I miss it a lot, and while it is cool to see where the scene is now for all competitive games and how far the scene has come and the mastery people have, I will still always feel the most kinship with someone who just buys a Crypt Lord because he looks cool.
Love this series! I actually think is good because most players (including me) are from these levels, and want to know what to change in our logics. Thanks!
exactly that ! I saw the pro builds for years but just dont have the skill/ multitask .. - to see copys of my gameplay with comments how spezific every fail turns out in long term helps so much more
You know of what I speak, you have seen it as well. A lidless eye, wreathed in flame. Concealed within his fortress the dark Lords sees all. His gaze pierced cloud, shadow, bronze and silver
Dude, I'm terrible at wc3, but watching him use his wyrms to tank was so frustrating. Focusing the altar when 1 attack from the wyrm would have killed the berserker.
Please keep this up! I’ve been playing on and off since it came out and learned a bunch from you over the years. But as an average player I learn the most from your reviews of bronze players !!!
Grubby, thanks for the bronze league heroes. It helps me because I need to be studying for my final exams in med school (surgery rn) and these videos really uplift my mood everyday and keep me sane
This new series is amazing. Despite being ever so slightly better than these guys I’m still Learning from them! Especially when you point out something they are doing stupidly that I STILL do myself ahahh
I wonder if it wouldn't be possible for someone to create a course to online play using the map editor. Also, it might help to have AI capable of imitating online matches to ease new players into the game and let them test things out without the pressure of having to go up against a real person. I always felt there was more it could be done with the AI. The one in WC3, even on insane, it's kinda of braindead. Then again, if new players would learn the game "offline" before entering online matches we wouldn't have series like this anymore. Also, look at me talking about a 20+ years old game as if it was just released yesterday.
I'm practicing vs AI right now and it does things like building Ancient of War in a place where units cannot get out of the base, and uprooting is never on its mind to fix this. Or having its expansion canceled a few times in a row, only to decide it must be safest to build that Great Hall next to the fortress in the main base instead. Makes for some funny but disappointing moments.
I play around this by not going aggressive on the expansions early. You need to let them have certain advantages or its no fun to play against. @@daviddavidson1450
Hey Grubby, really like the Bronze Leauge stuff of yours first and foremost. I am right now playing on around 1300-1400 mmr and was wondering if you also could go for some casting on this mmr-range, since i think many of us would benefit from it (maybe not so funny but informativ), maybe something like Silver Leauge Savages or Gold Leauge Gladiators? Anyway, Keep it up man!
At the end when you were pointing out you have to guess what they leveled up since you cant see it on replays. On w3champions i have a different replay hud where i can see what they skilled.
Your content was entertaining as it was. But this series - its something I can relate to as a noob player. Great stuff! Also I saw you were going to play Hearthstone soon, can you tell more about that?
I get surprised about how you relate them to pros who do these builds, I think for a lot of these people if they copy pros they'd probably be higher, but at the same time I'm someone who never did wall offs or anything yet these people do so that might say a bit (tbf I'm mostly a campaign player tho)
The bronze mentality in a nut shell from someone who spent time there; "I know generally how to start the first 2 min, and I know where I want to end up, army wise, and I have a rough estimate on resources needed. The rest of it? The "mid game" where most of the game plays out? No idea. If I think it gets me to end game I'll build it when I can so I dont forget it later on and dont have what I need to get that army."
Hey Grubby I have been thoroughly enjoying the deep dives. I have never actually played wc3 before other than campaign. I am curious to why people would choose to have only 1 hero rather than multiple? Also really loving the drastic difference and breakdowns of bronze level play comparative to meta high elo strategies.
he explains it sometimes, exp gets spread between 2 or 3 if you don't control the distance while creeping making it slower overall, plus it's easier to micro having only to focus on 1 or 2 heroes instead of 3, they also make easy targets for enemy players if they are low levels... games may not last long enough for them to reach significant levels. then there's the simple fact u need tier 3 to have 3 heroes and u may not need it for the units ur producing plus it costs a lot and takes long... so many factors to consider...
6:40 , Putting a tower on the road to the mine doesn't make it weaker?!! See what else this does?? It separates the peasants from each other, protecting them from Nova and the Crypt Lord, as well as from ghouls. Grubby, could you check this? Perhaps this makes it easier to protect the expansion against the undead :D
I'm still surprised players dont use wyrms to hit towers to freeze them. I'm a noob myself and cant micro too much, but when I see that situation I think "I can just hit the tower with my frost wyrm and then I wont have to think about my frost wrym anymore"
Is it just me or is the music/game sounds a lot louder than normal? I was having trouble hearing you and thought the headphones were fucked but they work good on other videos. Love the content
32:10 As an ex-bronze, we rebuild buildings on the same spot to pretend the enemy didn't hurt or bother us
i'll pretend i didnt see that, knave

Same, I loved going Warden with mountain giants, chimeras and hyppos because it crushed the AI and because it looked cool. Good times.
I love how you’re trying to make sense of their builds. You’re giving us Bronze players way too much credit 😂
or he just too genius about finding ways to make a weird plan work
33:20 epic learning moment. I cheered along with you and the chat 👏👏👏
me too! that was awesome
only about 3 minutes late and thus game deciding
I was happy for the player. It was a learning moment
They're adapting lmao

It's good because by explaining what the bronze guys are doing wrong, he is essentially teaching us the game.
I've snuck my way into silver league now, perhaps now I am safe from TH-cam's gaze lol.
Silver League heroes up next
Keep at it big guy! You'll be gold in no time

You are one of the most kind hearted and genuine lover of the game that I have come across. I love your viewpoint of all play levels!

Never has grubby been so happy at personal growth with that alter placement, it's like a football match 😂
Cryptlord is cool.
some say his might cannot be matched

Mountain King: "Whatever I want."
Thanks for the bronze level explanation, Grubby! Love this series.
this series is quickly becoming my favorite thing to watch :D

Hearing an analytical mind's take on low lvl games is very insightful
Mr. Editor I see your Batman reference in the thumbnail. Well done.
finally my favourite series

the fences are called NADAR (has history with a French guy that was making a balloon trip or something)
