Muriel Redd. A place of very little money but rich in spirit. A big shame that a very hard working close community has gone. I have good memories of those times. Thank you for watching. I do hope to make more with new ‘old’ pictures and more recent ‘now’ pictures.
Cheers Ronnie 👍 thanks for the nice comment and thanks for watching. probably 2 or 3 videos still left to do with what material there is but its finding the time. I was going to do a website but again it's finding the time. Hope you an the family are well matey. Take care
@@david141b Sorry it has taken so long to reply to your comment and I do wish I had replied sooner. It is a much different skyline now compared to 4 years ago.
It’s genuinely blown me away seeing how different the area was compared to now. So much industry and steel making heritage all but gone and nothing but wasteland left behind, it’s really sad.
The view and emptiness along the Black path is fascinating. I do wish i had a camera or a small amount of todays tech growing up in the late 70s onwards.
@@MadeInGrangetown I had no idea that area on the north side of the A66 near the recently demolished BOS plant was as built up as it was..it looks almost like a high street and town centre, all completely gone. I also had no idea that a railway ran up Eston Road / Church Lane carried over Bolckow Road on a bridge. I’ve always been fascinated by the history of our area but I really can’t believe how different grangetown was back then
@@matthewchorlton8657 I remember before the A66 was built as our nursery & primary school was on Pochin road but i have no memories of the streets still standing or during the last of the demolitions. My mam remembers those streets and how busy Whitworth road was with all the shops that sold everything. The difference compared to today is hard to imagine
A place of hard working people in a close community, All gone.
