The of the better singer/songwriters in the business.Europe saw his talent, to bad America never did. His first 4 albums are classics!! Saw him in 1978 when he opened up for the Runaways at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood.Been a fan ever since.
I saw Moon Martin on either The Midnight Special or Rock Concert. He played Rolene first which I knew was his sing but I had NO IDEA at the time when his 2nd song was Bad Case of Loving You that he wrote it TOO. Both live and in the studio were awesome! I like Robert Palmer and even Paul Rodgers versions BUT there's JUST SOMETHING about this original that gets me.
Moon Martin said in interviews that he knew he had a hit on his hands with "bad case" as soon as people began to sing along when performing it live. And even at the very first time he played it live, people sang along.
Thanks for sharing. Großartiges Lied, gute Version. Das Video scheint von der deutschen TV-Sendung Rockpalast WDR zu sein. (Geat song, good version. The video seems to be from the German TV-broadcasting a rock palace West German Radio) Best Regards from Germany
Yeah, it's from the Rockpalast broadcast but the date is wrong. Moon played the Markthalle January 21 according to the Rockpalast Archiv. Funny though, the 22'nd Carolyne Mas made a gig at the Markthalle. Carolyne maybe were watching the Moon concert the day before and liked it because on her next record she included a Moon Martin cover. The song was "(S.O.S) Signal for help"
Great video. I think its from the WDR Rockpalast broadcast. Samstag auf Sonntag, 06.11.1994 1.20 - 6.20 Uhr im WDR Fernsehen LYNYRD SKYNYRD (Musikhalle Hamburg, 05.12.74) LEE CLAYTON (Markthalle Hamburg, 09.01.80) DAVID LINDLEY (Metropol Berlin, 03.11.81) MOON MARTIN (Markthalle Hamburg, 22.01.81)
@larth58 You're right about the lyrics (I guess I paraphrased in my head) and the musician. Thanks for the clarification. I was laughing too hard I guess. How do you know them (the band) so well? Are you one of them (he says hopefully)?
i respect the original, but the key they play it, makes it sound kind of moody, whereas palmer's cover is pure rock, palmer's version is pure adrenaline moon martin should thank robert a million times robert was a true rocker and a pure class act sorry mister moon but robert kicked your ass on this one, now the song belongs to robert
The one and ONLY ORIGINAL VERSION...WRITTEN&COMPOSED by the brillant and underrated singer-songwriter MOON MARTIN
Fantastic! 1981 still rocks in 2022

Awesome brother Moon ! Miss you !
Five years ago I wrote a letter to MOON MARTIN fan club and he respond with an autograph cd and tape.
Thank you!
All the cd of moon martin (rare cd) are fantastic with his melodies ,riffs, rock, and voice.
This guy was superior to most of the singer/ song writers of the end of the,20th century and never got the credit he deserves

No se me olvidará nunca esta canción y hace unos 25 años que la escuché ¡for the good times!
Fenomenal aunque mucho mejor grabada en estudio.
Fantastic version of the song by the author no less .
Outstanding!! Look forward to them...
Un album posthume de Moon vient de sortir (31/10/2022) : Midnight Moon. Sur les plateformes de streaming ou en téléchargement.
I like this song !!!!!! Thanks larth58 !!!!!
Cool hearing original as written.
LOL At 2:30, "Shake my fist, knock on wood..." background guitarist knocks on his head...
RIP Moon..
Robert Palmer live in Tokyo , best performance of this song ever.
One more thing>> GREAT POST! All i ever had from this time period was the Super 8 footage i shot of him (No Sound) back in 1978. this is Awesome!!
Love both versions, but the key this one is played in makes it sound more somber than Robert Palmer´s...awesome
Keep tuning in here, because I have lot's of more Moon videos which I will post here as far as I get the time!
Just was informed he passed away last week. He went to my H.S. and was known by many - what a shame he is gone.
How cool Arline Kay! When was that and which highshool did you go go?

Q.E.P.D. Moon
Never saw the mighty Moon live, one of my great regrets…
THAT's exactly what I wanted to say - Phil Maison. Minor Key!
Doctor Dr.oooh
R.I.P.

@paelgin small correction: Moon sings ...pound on wood ... and the guy knocking his head is Denny Croy, the BASS-player not the guitarist :-)
About a guy who finds himself shitfaced in love with a woman who is a FORCE! Been there! So much for the lyrics. The guitar tells ya how it went.
U know what it's the beach 🌴
Great video. I think its from the WDR Rockpalast broadcast.

Never heard this song as originally written before. The minor key gives additional flavor missing from Palmer's x5 power-chord version.
@larth58 Even smaller correction....a bass player IS a guitarist. Ease up a little.
Man, this was great. Do you have the studio version clip? It was in the same set of "Rolene", which another user has posted here.
He may write the song, but Palmer crushes him in singing it
Tom Petty's long lost brother.....
If Palmer would not record it, this song would be forgotten. Same with Simply the best. If Tina Turner would not sing it, it would be trash
i respect the original, but the key they play it, makes it sound kind of moody, whereas palmer's cover is pure rock, palmer's version is pure adrenaline
moon martin should thank robert a million times
robert was a true rocker and a pure class act sorry mister moon but robert kicked your ass on this one, now the song belongs to robert
I never liked Palmer's MTV hip Zombie girl backing band.
