    While I understand the point, I think it should also be noted that the people in the covenant be mindful of sex being a renewal of the covenant. Marriages suffer from lack of sex and intimacy. Of this was the mindset of all married people, it may be different. It's just important to remember that getting married doesn't just magically make this connection happen, it also requires devotion to the marriage and intimacy/sex. It also doesn't mean that people having sex outside of a covenant have not made a promise to one another.

    Is it possible for two people that were unbelievers before getting married can then both become believers after the marriage? It is mentioned here the relationships and people being covenant and consumer or covenant and covenant, but what about two people that were both consumers? Is there hope for two people who were consumers and got married culturally and yet did not understand this truth about sex, marriage, and Christ? Can their individual lives be re-structed around Christ to then serve each other both in covenant form even though they've both broken that with consumerism? Or is the bridge already burned in that both people were consumers to start and cannot reverse time to change?

    Yes I agree. We need to honor our spouses and make Jesus the Lord of our lives. Here Jesus talking about not to covet another mans wife. Who ever looks at another man’s wife and desires to have sex with her and is committing adultery in his heart. This make more since. The word Jesus used for women can also be used for wife. Jesus is referring to the 10 Commandments. It’s not about sex. It is about relationship.

      i repented of lust and sexual sin with a truly sorrowful heart. then i commanded the spirits of lust and perversion to leave me in Jesus name until I felt a change. I knew they were gone when I no longer felt lustful. If I felt overwhelmed, then they weren't all gone. So I kicked them all out. And I stopped listening to all non-Christian music and stopped opening my eyes to any media that contains sex scenes in order to keep my deliverance. doing all this makes celibacy possible - you still have to be wise. but it's much easier without being oppressed by the spirit of lust that is in most Christians today (and everyone else).

    • @nat2057
      @nat2057 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say to make sure you are saturated with things of God. Listen to podcasts about Him, watch sermons, read books. Pray intentionally and don't stop reading the Bible. When you're filled with things of God, it doesn't leave enough room for the perverted desires of the world to distract you.
      Apart from this, you need to have someone who will hold you accountable. Someone you can be completely honest with, and that will strengthen you when you feel your self control wavering.
      Also make sure to avoid all temptation. Get rid of every possible distraction. When it comes to sexual sin, you're not called to stand your ground and fight, no, you're meant to flee from it. It shouldn't be about 'how far close to the line can I get, where it's not technically a sin', it's about how far away from the line you can walk. So cancel all the meetings with people you know will tempt you, stop texting people who try to push your boundaries and make sure you have a deep and solid understanding of the value of sex in marriage. It's worth waiting for. It's definitely not easy, but it's worship

    If any of these theologian/pastors would study the legal concept of a “covenant”, they would understand that their notion of a covenant tracks with the legal concept of covenant-as in a real estate contract where a covenant (i.e., a promise between parties to do or not do something) is binding on future successors in interest (i.e., owners) regardless of their notions about the original parties’ commitment. So, to speak of a covenant between the eternal God and a people (to include future generations), makes some sense. Albeit, it does not make as much sense to apply the covenant language (as applied when discussing the relationship between God and His People) to two individuals since their martial agreement has no future successors in interest; however, I guess that’s just the language we use.

    I've met many people who have uncontrolable sexual desires. Is it Normal? Is it Fair? for example female dogs go in heat certain time of the year, other animals, including mankind have the same genes built by a creator in the same way. I believe it is normal for mankind to have desires some have it more than others but we all have it. Now! the bible says in Corinthians 7 several things, such as (shortened) if no self control it is better to marry than to burn in hell, is that really fair to an older person who is out of shape or a person over weight or with health problems, man or woman with no opportunity to find a partner, does that mean that they will automatically go to hell? I really believe in God but am viewing this as an unfair judgement on mankind built to do one thing (multiply). I think it is just unfair, no compassion on race, gender, age, health, disability, or any other factor such as a plain ugly person not able to meet someone. Just because they were built in that manner does not make them the guilty one especially if there is a spiritual force on top that trying to make mankind sin with something they were built to do. Just plain unfair don't you think?

    • @Kotesu
      @Kotesu 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +jess robert You bring up some good points, and I can see where the frustration and anger can come from, but if I understand you correctly there is an underlying assumption: if we're bad we go to hell, if we're good we go to heaven. Under that assumption, yes you're right, that is unfair.
      But, let me just say, that's decidedly false according to the basic teachings of Christianity... and anybody who has presented that to you is using Christianity to control people or is regurgitating something taught to them by somebody trying to control them.
      The truth is: all have fallen short. We're not good enough and underneath all the bluster and positive affirmation, deep down we do kinda believe we're blowing it. That's something common across all religions (as C.S. Lewis pointed out in the Abolition of Man) and there are many different disciplines to handle it: the eightfold path, praying five times a day to Mecca, purification rites and rituals, becoming clear of thetans, positive thoughts, the list is long and ever growing.
      But what Christianity says is that those things are a hopeless cause. We're incapable of getting better. So having sex or not having sex isn't making things better or worse for any of us: we're all doomed anyway. But Christ, in his love, came down to fix things for us - at the cost of his own life. For any who might object, remember what Paul said in Galatians 2: if we could save ourselves by our own means, then Christ's death was a waste.
      What happens after accepting what Christ has done, that's where things can get sticky and people get hung up on. My comment is long enough as it is, so I'll only say: there is much advantage to following the original design and intention God had when he created us, but the whole "zomg you had sex therefore you're going to hell" thing is just false. We were all destined for hell already.

      As I have come to understand we can have desires and thoughts all of these things can be used in purity or for sin.. We have natural God given desires which are meant to bring us into Gods will for our lives.. Romans 6:12-1421st Century King James Version (KJ21)12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
      13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin, but yield yourselves unto God as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
      14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
      1 Corinthians 7:9
      …8 Now to the unmarried and widows I say this: It is good for them to remain unmarried, as I am. 9 But if they cannot control themselves, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion. 10 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband.…
      In this instance as Daniel has said God is giving the way of escape to merry. In the case you may feel well I don't have a husband/ wife, well God will meet all our needs according to His riches in glory.
      Genesis 2:1821st Century King James Version (KJ21)
      18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper meet for him.”
      Let us remember that all that we have can be used for good or evil we have through Christ the power and presence of God at our disposal to keep us from sin and to uphold righteousness.
      Galatians 5:23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no Law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit.…
      Galatians 5:19-2121st Century King James Version (KJ21)
      19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,20 idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, quarreling, rivalry, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 envying, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like. About these things I tell you again, as I have also told you in times past, that those who do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.
      Remember that under grace under Christ you are not under the law or the power of sin you are in the covenant with Christ partaker of the divine nature 2 peter 1 2-5 Galatians 5:22 May God bless you with these words..

    • @chosenv2175
      @chosenv2175 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It doesn't mean to burn as in burn in hell but to burn in yourself with passion My friend you are not ugly and that person Lord willing that God has for you will allow that person to see the beauty of who you are and what you have to give them in a marriage covenant. The world says it cant be done you are to this or that and you were these labels that the world is giving you. Your ugly/your poor/ your fill in the blank.. God says you were fearfully and wonderfully made. 39 Not all flesh is the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another, and fish another. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies. But the splendor of the heavenly bodies is of one degree, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is of another. 41 The sun has one degree of splendor, the moon another, and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor. This means you have a God given splendor that can be developed within your relationship with God. I encourage you to tap into God and you will be amazed with what God can do.

      nothing we are presented with in life is something that we can't weather. we don't find true happiness in sex just as we don't find true happiness in drugs or money. Make Jesus Christ and yearning for him your new drug. Sex feels good because it was meant to be a good thing between a married couple, but they are not doing it only for their own pleasure they are doing it for each others as well as the purpose for which it is created: to bear another human life.

    How weird it is to oppose "love" and "lust" . It is as if you opposed love and hunger !
    How come modern Christianity is always mixing up the things of the body with the things of the soul ?
    Take King David , the man after God's heart for example. He had wives to satisfy his sexual desires and have children and he wrote the most beautiful psalms and had a deep communion with the Lord .
    I think there is really something wrong with modern teachings.
    Focusing on "lust" is not biblical. The Bible says things like lusting after another man's wife is already adultery in the heart or you shall not covet the things that belong to your neighbour .
    But never focuses on "lust" itself. If a man lusts after a virgin for example , he can marry her . But if he lusts after his neighbour's wife , it is wrong.
    This is what happens when we don't stick to the Bible. We are carried away by legalistic human doctrines , almost ascetic ones .
    Like those who say don't get marry , or worse no sex in marriage .
    They are preaching a doctrine of demons.
    Really the Bible does not focus on "lust" .but teaches people to channel sex and make it a duty in marriage .
