I could not understand the semi-dry type correctly. What is the actual effect to prevent back flow to the E/R? How does the system work? I mean when the hydrocarbon gas tries to come back to the E/R, how the water fill in the line? Must be there some pressure which avaliable during back flow to fill up water inside line/tank ?
Normally when the gas came back due to any cause the water in the deck seal enters in the outlet of the pipe of engine room and it stop the gas to flow back to the engine... Its work like commode as the smell doesnot come back to our washroom
Sir m having a doubt want to clear sir wen ig passes through water it passes through demister pads than to engine room but backflow of cargo gases coming from engine presses water n seals inlet pipe frol cargo gases going to engine room but as water is heavier than ig how water will go down so that ig passes through water n then to cargo tank?
It's all about the head concept when i.g is coming from engine room there is lot of space in deck seal where i.g easily come out .....but in case of backflow water enter in the pipe and till some height above that i.g does not have much pressure to puss it more and hence it prevents backflow of i.g in tank

We have one non return valve and deck seal
