We live in steep mountains, and every man here who operates a D11 on a surface mine, have to cut roads, and level out for the drill. That road would be a walk in the park on a bad day. We also have to grade the spoil banks which require traversing the bank up and down. Those D11s are some capable machines
I have seen blokes doing work along the edge of similar precipices while operating old D9's at the SA Opal fields. They were working cuts between 50 and 90 feet deep on the old airstrip at the now defunct Mintabie field and as a spectator it got a bit 'anxious making' at times but didn't seem to bother the operators at all.. I once saw one ripping a cut when the hook on the ripper pulled a whacking great slab of rock up over another slab under the belly plate which lifted the machine up a bit like a huge trolley jack. When the weight of the blade eventually tilted the dozer forward off it's tracks it lifted the tracks almost level about a foot off the ground. The D9 came to rest balanced on it's belly plate on the rock and the cutting edge of the blade. The operator just dropped the blade down and warped it to and fro with the lateral rams until the machine slipped back off the rock after which it was "business as usual' and he hardly missed a beat. On another occasion we found a bit of 'trace' in the wall of a cut which a D9 was working, it was passing close by at the time so the operator stopped and asked what we were looking at. When we explained he just maneuvered the corner of the thundering great blade against the spot and used a warping ram to flick the material out of the wall of the cut as neat as though he was using a knife to hook raisin out of a bun. When I was last in the region some of those old D9's were just rusting away in various places because it is so remote and their monetary value presumably not worth the cost of retrieving them. The main thing about it all was the sheer size of the machines involved because they literally made the solid stone under your feet vibrate as they walked by. Some time later I encountered my first D11 which was ripping a trench for optic fiber communication cable to some remote communities in the North West of South Australia and D9's suddenly didn't seem so huge anymore!
Well that was pretty hairy!!!🤪 We did something similar about 20 years back on our station, we ran our 375 up this hill behind the homestead to position a Telstra repeater tower.. the tower is long gone and now we have a massive flag pole to fly this massive flag on Australia Day and Anzac day..🇦🇺
That slope off the side of the road where you said you didn’t want to go off of,that is the angle of the slopes I spread topsoil on every day with a D7R LGP. It can be sketchy work for sure especially when you have large rocks just under the surface,ice flows and snow thrown into the mix. We are reclaiming coal mines here in Canadian Rockies .Never a dull moment in these mountains/foothills. I used to run D10,s/11’s at a production coal mine and the hills that were a bit scary on a D10 seemed not bad in a D11. They are longer and much heavier so less nible but they do climb better. I find it’s much easier,safer and less scary if you back up the hill then push down. It’s so much easier pushing down and you let gravity do it’s thing spreading the material when building a road. If I’m going to go for a slide I want to be able to use my blade and ripper to help stop me. It’s amazing what these dozers can do.

A lot of people don’t understand how intimidating running a dozer on a slope be. I played around quite a bit on some D6T’s, and they seem huge if you’ve never been in one.....I’ve moved D11’s around in my younger days, I couldn’t imagine working a slope in one😳
Did some work with my dad's TD-25 on a slope. Not sure what it was but I understand what you mean. It's like loading a machine on a trailer. Seems like it would be no biggie but there can definitely be some clench factor too it depending on the trailer. Watched my dad and another guy loading a backhoe onto a trailer once. Can't remember why but dad was in the backhoe seat and the other guy was driving the tractor. The guy got about 1/2 way up the trailer ramps and decided he needed more power so he pushed in the clutch and pulled the throttle wide open and popped the clutch. Thankfully dad was quick with the backhoe and got it out and down before the machine went off the side of the trailer. It was scary to watch that's for certain as this was an older machine and it had no ROPs.
I slope 2:1 slopes regularly up here in the oilsands. It takes getting used to but once you realize you are more likely to slide down rather than tip over, it gets more comfortable. Plus if anything does go wrong you just reverse and anchor your upper track side.
@@CodeineRadick I actually have a video of my buddy in a d8 rolling onto it’s side, he wasn’t sloping, working on a rock shelf, it gave way and he was slight sideways to downhill side, he accelerated to try and spin doze blade downhill but obviously dozers aren’t know for stellar acceleration and his track sank and it came over to its side like a elephant laying down
Very true, there is a few comments saying just drive the dozer up and push the road down, im pretty confident they would change their mind if they saw it in real life haha 😂
When a wide angle lens is used, a mountain looks like a molehill. These shots are all taken with a wide angle and the grade is flattened automatically by the perspective created by the lens.
Very neat!. Your country is really cool! I had a great time visiting Adelaide and took the Gana train into Alice Springs and saw the Olgas and Ayers Rock super awesome. So you should put a solar station and sell night viewing for a small fee of course, but mate you could have a small fortune setting up a station for sky viewing!. However that’s a very nice job and thanks for sharing this video.

Thanks mate, I started off with only a dji mavic mini then I bought a mavic air 2 a few months ago👍 the air 2 handles wind a bit better and has a few more tricks up it’s sleeve but the mini is very impressive and great for begginers😁
I found a DJI Mavic Pro Platinum Fly More combo plus another fly more combo but no drone wit it cause it flew away but 500 its 2 controls and sun shield..2 parabolic range booster... 2 car chargers 2 of the mulit chargers 7 sets of propellers 5 battarys and 2 sets of filters i think that a decent deal

That's d11 is a dam modern marvel what a machine. I live in Michigan and was an electrician. In 2013 I was able to see a d9 in action and that to this day is the biggest piece of heavy equipment I couldn't imagine a d11. That thing did great what's crazy is there's tankers that can ship them things to where you are unless there assembled in your neck of the woods
I had a D11 move earth and stumps from a roadway . All up it took a couple of passes each way, say an hour. This was after a fellow in a D4 with great expectations and a pile of Self-Selling convinced me his machine could do the job. I cancelled 'D4 guy' after watching him muck about for four hours trying to remove a couple of stumps. My advice to prospective employers is to get the biggest bloody machine you can find and Do The Job Properly, first time.

Job well done boys, however it pails in comparison to the old logging roads the old time dozer operators formed in order to snig logs out to the landings and make roads for the trucks to haul the loads out,for a lot of years the cable blades were the luxury of the day and rippers were unheard of as the dozers had a winch instead.Quite a lot of the country in Far North Queensland was Basalt Mountainous country which created its own problems. Anyway have a great day fellas👍👍
That's an impressively huge big of kit even in videos. The big girl came up close to the camera pushing some small trees over, and there's a tiny man in the cab who's probably 6'3. That thing moves earth like nothing else. The fact it can still do its job on a 45 degree grade is very impressive. I've been in a padfoot on 30 degrees and that was sketchy enough. Mate I think you could actually cut a new road through the middle of a built up city with that dozer, pushing buildings out of the way.
I've noticed the gas tanks on the larger Cat dozers. On your D11's they're behind the cab. On the D10 at work it's mounted forward of the cab. Are they part of a fire suppression system?
We have a saying here in the US. You don’t have to be crazy to do stuff like that, but it sure helps! Great work, very treacherous. Love the sound of that big V8 growling away.
Have the same rocky outcrop beside my home in Ireland... its almost identical. I even sent the video to a friend just now. It is the end moraine of a glacier. On one side of this hill in the video you can see the land adjacent to the hill is different to the surrounding farmland. It looks wetter and darker.... same applies to the hill beside me. Check out end moraines of glaciers.
That's my kinda dozer work! Although I'm sure it's far different with an 11 than with a 6 or 8, as a D8 is the largest dozer I've had a chance to pilot but badly want to run the biggest models. Not a lot of mining or earth moving where I live so seeing a 10 on a lowboy in transport is rare lol.

Thanks mate, the dozers are 4.5meters high and the blades are 6.5m wide and 2.3m high😁

Nah she’s not to bad this one, I think she’s at about 50-60%, if we keep working in rock we might have too 😁

The placement of that hill of rocks is peculiar, any ideas on how it came to be?
Have the same rocky outcrop beside my home in Ireland... its almost identical. I even sent the video to a friend just now. It is the end moraine of a glacier. On one side of this hill in the video you can see the land adjacent to the hill is different to the surrounding farmland. It looks wetter and darker.... same applies to the hill beside me.

That's my kinda dozer work! Although I'm sure it's far different with an 11 than with a 6 or 8, as a D8 is the largest dozer I've had a chance to pilot but badly want to run the biggest models. Not a lot of mining or earth moving where I live so seeing a 10 on a lowboy in transport is rare lol.
