I love how similar our recipes are in Southern Africa. This is also one way we cook our wild melon in Zululand (Zulu). My mom cooked this for me a few weeks ago, apparently, it helps with asthma and hay fever. I don't know whether it was the placebo effect, but when I drank the melon soup, I didn't experience any asthma attacks or allergies.

In Zimbabwe the Shona will do all that but we add peanut butter as well but the Ndebele do it differently no flour added It’s so tasty.

One thing about Africa we do have similar tradition and culture, the only different thing is language and if we listen to each language deeply, you can pick here and there they are all similar, you can see it through the food we eat, in SA🇿🇦 limpopo province (Bapedi tribe) that melon we call it lerotse, we do as well plough the mahangu, we call it (leotša) , and that meal or porridge we cook the same way either we add the mahangu (leotša flour) or maize meal, we basically cook it the same way. since watching your content, the Bapedi (pedi tribe of SA) we have similar traditions/culture I will say, some people use pumpkin to cook that instead of the melon, I saw the Vha-venda tribe in SA limpopo doing that❤ 8:21

Similar in Kenya. Maize, sorghum or finger millet and pumpkin. We don’t have those melons. Wish I can have the seeds.

Hey there.. process is almost similar with the mayeyi culture there by katima... 😂😂 our granny taught use that we have to peel the melon or pumpkin 🎃 in a way that we use it as spoons and the rest goes to the animals. And we remove the seeds for next ploughing season if it tastes good if not we use it for to make sources.. we don't add salt but we add mazie meal or millet whatever the granny wants to eat with.. for the lamps we use a whisk traditional one and we have it as it is or with sour milk which my favorite... i love how you share your life with us as for me I learn alot❤❤❤❤
