    Good to see you are back on YT. We bumped into you and a mate about to walk into that area 2 roars ago. I was waiting for the video to see if you'd been more successful than us but it never arrived :) This year we were there the weekend after you for 3 nights, and there were just us 2 and another guy in the hut (who turned out to be a mate we didn't know was going there too!). We've found that area super frustrating to hunt in the roar. When it's not windy as the stags just don't seem to move to you, and when you get closer, they shut up. This year we had the most amazing autumn hunting weather we've ever had. Even the wind was manageable. Heard almost no roars. Stalked into hinds on 3 different occasions, winded a hind and fawn just beyond those pines, and on the last night we roared in a 2yo hind just before last light so I shot that! Hopefully next year we get a stag, but we are thinking of going somewhere else instead!

    • @SSRhys
      @SSRhys 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! I remember, at the carpark. I see you've got some videos too, I'll check them out 😊 We did actually have a good trip in there that time, we managed to get in real close to a stag roaring hard and my mate shot his first stag, a real nice 8pt bush head 👍 I've filmed so much in the last couple of years, just haven't made any videos with the footage. I'm not surprised to hear that, we've really struggled in there the last few years too, it's been really frustrating, especially this year! Great to hear you got good weather, I hunted all month and the weather was amazing most of the month. Shame you didn't get onto stags there this year, but nice to get in on a few animals and take some meat. We're also thinking that we probably won't bother in there again, at least for the roar. Did you get into some other spots this roar also or just there?

    • @fanfan-77
      @fanfan-77 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mad_fisho we didn't hunt much this roar, had a bit going on and also sometimes get a bit frustrated with the lack of results. Had a good time on a private block over Easter but they mostly have fallow and weren't croaking yet. Better luck next year i guess. We have learned from every trip so one day we will have a combination of good wind, roaring animals and no hunter mistakes!

    • @SSRhys
      @SSRhys 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It can certainly be an incredibly frustrating learning process for sure! Even so often these days I feel I've got it all figured out and then the bush kicks my arse for awhile and I can't do anything right 😅 Thankfully as you know it's so rewarding when it all comes together on a hunt and you get some success! A bad day in the bush still beats a good day at work aye 😊

      I harvested the meat mate, shows me hanging it in the meat safe at the end of the video. Just didn't bother showing the butchery footage. Only took back legs and backstraps though, as I'd ruined the front shoulders with the shot.
