I had an apple tree that suffered from fungus for years. The main tree died but it had a root sprout up and grew a new main stem. Once it grew to about 6’ I noticed all the leaves had signs of fungus. I mixed 1 bottle H2O2 with five gallons of water and treated the tree once a month thru one summer. The fungus slowly disappeared. The next year I only treated it one time and it produce apples like I have never seen before. Amazing
Thank you for all this info of h202, I loose my tomato plants and zucchini every year. Now I moved to the front of my house, not sure what gets it, I think they get fungus. Can this method be used as a preventative?
I've been adding Hydrogen Peroxide to the water of my cut flowers for years. It will feed the plants and keep the water clear for up to 2 weeks!! I use one or two cap full to the vase depending how big the vase is
I usually gargle with hot salted water. In the past 16 months though, I've had one sore throat infection after another. I'm going to give the Hydro-Peroxide a go now.
I wash my veggies using water & a little hydrogen peroxide, then package them with a towel a little water + drops of hydrogen peroxide, especially romaine lettuce. Amazing how well it works.
Vinegar is more environmentally friendly. H2O2 is highly reactive and energy and plastic dependant. At least for washing produce. Soak in a 10 percent solution about 5 minutes to 10 minutes and rinse.

I can attest to this on a micro level- as in microgreens. Early on in my micro-ing journey, I spritzed H2O2 water to get rid of algae or mold and I witnessed the freshly germinated seeds spring to life instantly.
Hydrogen Peroxide can also be used to remove blood stains. Just like it helps with cleaning a wound if you get blood onto your clothing or carpet just pour it on and watch it do its stuff. Wait about 15 minutes then blot with a cloth. Reapply until stain is gone. I use full strength for this.
I’m also new and I started a garden and my potatoes kept dying and I do not know why. The my start out great and then all of a sudden in a week or so the plant starts dying, the tops die and the potatoes disappear. I have no idea why. I have many pests, squirrels, chickens and rabbits.. not to mention the bugs are so bad in the swamps of south Ga.
@sarahmostacci1154 Just keep at its all trial and error,i planted some sweet potatoes but got nothing yet and I also want to plant some potatoes,it's all a learning process and I'm definitely learning and you'll keep learning as well.. New Jersey.
You can also use it to loosen up compacted ear wax😃 Put a cpl drops in, keep your head tilted for about a minute or so then gently wipe it out. Wearing earbuds can cause a wax buildup 🙁 Just thought I’d mention it sense a lot of ppl are working from home now and probably using ear buds.
Try and warm it up a little bit, cold liquids in ears is excruciating. I put a little peroxide in a little dish, then run warm water over the side of the dish, don't get the water in the peroxide. It feels so much better than room temp liquid.
My sister has double hearing aids and her audiologist suggested that she not put anything smaller than her elbow in her ear to clean it. She suggested hydrogen peroxide,so we both started using it once a month, it works!
I use to help with stinky drains. One to two cups of 3% H2O2 at night (so it won't get washed away) really seems to help. It doesn't help with clogs, but when you hear that fizz coming out of the drain you know it's killing microbes down there.
Thank you for your advice. I asked your opinion of best way to deal with root rot in a poor struggling tree - gardenia. I asked the frequency of 1:10 application of 3% to it. The two "trunks" of what was left of the tree, I could not reach with my longest finger the holllowness and soft fibrous material up the stems. So I sprayed up the centre of the trunk +++. Would you believe only after the first application, before a week was up, the central part of the stem had HEALED!!...just about 5 cms of hollowness left. Amazing! The tree knew best...it had grown more surface roots and the root base below the ground had rotted away. So I'm spraying that void too. The main cause was a built-up garden bed which I've levelled as best as possible and allowed drainage. YOU HAVE SAVED THIS TREE...THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
Some of my houseplants suddenly were attacked by aphids in February. Ladybugs were migrating through the house. )))) I put several of them in the pots and very soon NO aphids were visible. The ladybugs dove into the pot dirt to finish off the ones underground. Everybody happy )))) except the aphids.
i can't tell the difference any longer between ladybugs and Asian Beetles. They look so similar. So, no ladybugs are allowed in my house. Their twin Asian Beetles stink!
As usual, you are right on time to rescue my plants!! Just yesterday I noticed a prolific bell pepper was drooping, 😭 Aphids! Now I know- thanks to you it will get a 4:1 solution tomorrow. There's 1 lizard trying valiantly to eat them all, but it's 'that' time in South Florida. He needs backup! Thanks again Jeff!
I just purchased a few herbs two that have problems I did not catch. They are now in my windowsill, I treated their soil with 3% peroxide. Sprayed with neem oil and picking off the infected leaves. I consider it an opportunity to try to save them, and experiment. Thai basil, Lemon Balm and Sweet basil. The others are planted and doing great.
Make sure whatever you use, does not poison the lizard. I know dogs cannot handle peroxide without some major problems. Example, Horny-toads are dying off because of ant poison making their meals toxic.
I LOVE finding information like this from a knowledgeable intelligent person. Entertaining as well. Thank you for doing what you do, it is appreciated ! I’m watching more and subscribed today.
Mix Alcohol and Hydrogen Peroxide together, equal amounts of each, and put in a small bottle with a dropper. One drop to each ear drys the water up really fast when you get water in your ears, plus it's good to use when you have an earache. Thank you for this video.
I just started using Hydrogen Peroxide this year in my ornamental pond. The algee I fought last year is non-existent this year. After watching this video, I've been having issues getting grass to grow in a section of my yard... I'm going to give this a try there too.
@@FrugalFlyRodder Would you use a smaller amount for smaller ornamental ponds? My brother in law has a terrible time with algae in his pond. It's not as deep. I'll let him know about this. I just got it (H202) a week ago and water (root) my indoor plants and they’re doing tremendously well “growth wise” Epson Salt however, watering is doing incredible unbelievably well 😳 esp. on my indoor garlic grown overnight faster and better than my outside garlics. Awesome info. Thanks 🙏🇨🇦
I soaked a dozen weak & spindly slow-growing japanese boxwoods' soil with a 50/50 dilution. 1 week later I watered soil with just a hint of organic molasses & they all busted-out with lush, strong, green foliage & are growing fast. Many compliments from neighbors.

Will it harm the caterpillars? We are mindful of swallowtail and monarch caterpillars. I’ve noticed my swamp milkweed has a fungus; the fungus is bad for the caterpillars too so not sure what to do
I used it to kill algae in my fountains and ponds (without fish). I use it to whiten my teeth and kill bacteria below the gum line that can cause gum disease. (I’m 60 years old and have only had one filling in my entire life and no other dental ailments).

It's very nice on fruit that's a bit wilted. Wash it & sprtiz with 3% FGHP, set it back into the fridge 15 minutes & viola, fresh fruit. Or better fruit anyway, blueberries & grapes love it. As a test, I tried with lettuce from an unfinished Hamburger. It had been wilted from the heat of the Hamburger, I pulled it off the bun & laid it on foil, inside the Styrofoam take out box, spritz it w 3% diluted fghp & folded the foil down so it was in a v shaped foil pocket, unsealed. That lettuce leaf looked fresh the next day. better than when I laid it on the foil. Usually I just pitch the lettuce & tomato before refrigerating. Good stuff.
@@jacksonbrown2827 small health food stores sell FGHP 30% strength. (Sometimes stores keep it refrigerated, or behind the shelf) Dilute FGHP 30% at home with DISTILLED WATER. 1oz HP into 11oz H2O, store resulting 3% HP solution in _opaque_ container. [my Pyrex measuring cup has oz & cups opposite sides] Feeding plants I use a dropper of 30% into the watering can. Plants go green like after a natural rain.
Hydrogen peroxide is cytotoxic. That means it kills cells. Latest research shows, when it is applied to fresh wounds, it kills your healthy cells as well as bacteria and actually *slows* the healing process because it does even more damage to the wound when applied.
Your always best when mixing peroxide to use distilled or at least RO water since it reacts with chlorine in tap water for the most out of your peroxide
Thanks for your video. Everybody else was talking about the benefits but no one was telling the ratios to use. The slide at 7:27 is what I needed. Just bought Hydrogen Peroxide so will give it a go.
After 1st spray, I found little caterpillars drop dead. After 48 hours, my basil plants are looking much healthier and are standing more upright too. Same with mint and coriander plants. Thus solution works!!
I will definitely be trying this to get rid aphids. I have always had this problem no matter what I used in the past. I had worked for a nursery that used Murphy oil and dish soap, mixed with water. It never worked well. We spayed at least once a week faithfully. They loved her honeysuckle. At my house it's the broccoli. I quit planting it.
My plants were already eaten when I came across this last year. I may experiment with it a little more this year. Sounds like most people here had great results but my trees are big. This year I bought three praying mantis egg cases two have already hatched. Over 100 eggs per case. I guess a lot of them don't survive to adults. They are great entertainment for the grandchildren too.😂
Wow! Super tips! I just bought a neem solution for fungal issue on a young holly tree but am hesitant to use it because inhalation can be dangerous. Hell with that. Going to spray the tree with hydrogen peroxide. Thank you so much.
Very informative. I’ve had all the garden woes you mentioned; with getting certain seeds to germinate being especially troublesome. Thanks for the tips.
Yeah, I'm really testing it on a lot of inside stuff right now...where I'm using a sterilized potting soil anyways and not worried about preserving the beneficial microbial life.

So, what would be the ratio for a hose end sprayer? I’d like to spray both my garden and my lawn for fungus. I have lots of mushrooms in my garden and have had some fungus problems in the lawn. If I set the hose end sprayer to 2 tablespoons per gallon of water, would that be sufficient?
Thanks for sticking to your deal. Appreciate the tips and no politics. Anyhow, a bit off topic, but, my wife had dental issues, she used Hydrogen peroxide, as a "mouthwash'", worked well for her, so got to be good for our vegetable buddies.
Ha ha thanks CM! No politics or trending things like the virus.... Just gardening, that's my promise. Thanks so much for the support! I wonder how peroxide works for whitening??
@@TheRipeTomatoFarms According to her "dental" folks, it worked for stopping her supposed bone decay. Not sure about making our choppers white, , but it is an excellent item, for many uses. Have you tried Cherokee Purples?
New gardener here! Been struggling with powdery mildew (apparently I like eating fruits and veggies that address susceptible to it 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️) all last year, and already seeing signs of them this year. Definitely can't wait to give this simple solution a try!!!
You may wish to add boric acid with it. Mix the boric acid with warm water in a separate container, let it sit a couple hours so excess settles. Pour the boron solution into your sprayer and add the H2O2.
Powder sulfur is used for powdery mildew, on grapes, and many other plants, apply as needed, its safe fertilizer also needed by plants and soil health, good luck
This is not for the garden but it also works awesome by spraying it on the walls and floor of your shower and glass doors to clean. Just spray on wait 15 minutes and rinse and then maybe a second time, but if done often, doubtful.
Thanks for video.. very helpful... I saw videos last month about germinating mango seeds in plastic bags..they used hydrogen peroxide diluted in water to spray onto the seed before placing in baggie to prevent mold..
Awesome Rhonda...its VERY handy for those large seeds with lots of fruit still left on them...it really helps to combat the mold and fungus! Well done!
I am so grateful for the information that you give to us! I've tried sprouting wheat berries for my chickens so that they can have fresh greens in the winter. Each time I try to sprout them, (despite rinsing them several times per day and using proper drainage/airflow), the sprouts develop pathogens. I've been looking for a simple method to disinfect the berries before sprouting them! I'm going to try hydrogen peroxide! Thank you so much!!
Right on Jean! Remember, store-bought seeds have already likely been treated with it.....this will be more useful for your own saved seeds! Still, it does give even cleaned seeds a boost and will protect them from fungal outbreaks in not-so-clean soil!
Good video, I'll be trying this for sure! Hydrogen Peroxide is a staple in my first aid kit, in our bathroom cabinet and in my workshop. Negligible cost & it doesn't go off. Pour it over any cut no matter how big. This gets it sterilized quickly. Speed in sterilization is vital.
@@maribellelebre6809 Too true - I should be more careful with my terminology. After an operation they used to pour this into the body cavity. They now have more advanced disinfectants. Hydrogen peroxide does damage the surrounding tissue a little as you no doubt know. I figure it's a small price to pay to get instant disinfection of smaller wounds. I keep it on hand because it never goes off like so many other disinfectants. Thanks for the correction :-)
Open wounds should not be treated with hydrogen peroxide. Especially puncture wounds. It kills the surrounding tissue and seals it off, and can do more harm than good. Minor scrapes and abrasions can be safely treated with hydrogen peroxide.
I used a soaked cotton swab of hydrogen peroxide onto each of the scales to pull them off. I kept at it every day until there’s no more. I also repotted removing the majority of the soil and threw the old soil out. My plant was small at the time.

I just tried something new. I have 30% H2O2, which is pretty hazardous. I have some woody problem plants. Just did an experiment: Cut off the small tree (1" diameter) and applied some full-strength to the cut place. If this works, I'll be doing it more. It's about 2 weeks, and so far hasn't regrown.
Great information, thank you! I'm a container tomato gardener and had blight last year. Will hydrogen peroxide sanitise my containers so I can use them again this year? I'm at a loss at what to do to protect my new plants.
Thanks ,love the H202 as well . The process to stabilize the extra o2 is different ,between pharmacy and horticulture intended uses.According to my findings.
I heard another grower say dont add H2O2 to your mix until ready to use it, that it goes “flat” fairly quickly, at which point you wont get the same results, meaning it loses its effectiveness after some time
@@williamcarr3976 Yes! I have heard this as well. Its my understanding that the reason it goes "flat" is because of the same reason H202 comes in brown opaque bottles. To block UV rays that quickly degrades it. And so a simple dark bottle prevents that and makes it last years. But, If someone did want to mix in advance, then i would think placing the mixture into a similarly dark, UV proof closed container would also help preserve it until its time to use? 🤷🏼♀
Peroxide solution healed a special elephant foot tree that had bern damaged at the base and developed deep funi mould corkiness at the root line and was infestation of small worms. Normally these, also called Pony Tail plant, do not recover. Only took 2 or 3 applications around 2 weeks apart. I removed the sidden corky bad stuff, the wound was quite deep and the problem well developed so after the several applucations I gave up and stopped worrying about it. I forgot all about it,too. My tree is fine now, growing two 'pups' on the sunny undamaged side, no damage is apparent, the bark seems sound and its sprung a new 'crown' on top after sending up its once in 20 years flower spike which, once it dried i carefully removed. Miracle. 3 to 6% in pure filtered water, string enough to bubble and froth the rot away but did not harm or did not seem to harm the earthworms which i rinsed off anyway

QUESTION: (please) I'm wondering IF this would be beneficial for any SUCCULENTS? Any tips would be very helpful for me. I'm very grateful. Thank y'all! ♥️
I was so frustrated with my rose plants having black spots for the 3rd year. Out of frustration, I doused them with hydrogen peroxide at the beginning of spring, so far non of them shows any black spots. Hopefully that fixed that problem. They are all growing without issues. I’m not sure if dousing them with hydrogen killed the black spots. I didn’t even dilute it with water, it was full strength.
I had a magnolia bush that was completely crunchy all the leaves were dead but had only been that way for a week or two. I used the hydrogen peroxide and water solution and overnight the leaves began to turn green again. From completely dead leaves to green again within a week. I could hardly believe it. I used a stronger desperate amount of solution but it worked

Hydrogen peroxide is cytotoxic. That means it kills cells. Latest research shows, when it is applied to fresh wounds, it kills your healthy cells as well as bacteria and actually *slows* the healing process because it does even more damage to the wound when applied.

Hydrogen peroxide will disinfect, but it doesn't sterilize

Thanks ,love the H202 as well . The process to stabilize the extra o2 is different ,between pharmacy and horticulture intended uses.According to my findings.
Totally. But H2O2 is weak and unstable by nature. It doesn't take much "process" to shed the extra O at all.

Miracle. 3 to 6% in pure filtered water, string enough to bubble and froth the rot away but did not harm or did not seem to harm the earthworms which i rinsed off anyway
I stumble on your channel looking for something else. I never knew that hydrogen peroxide was so useful in the garden. I sure wish I'd known this a few months ago, could have saved me a big headache this summer. Definitely putting you on the watch list! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!
Hey Lindsey, thanks for watching! Yes, the peroxide has been really handy, for sure. I'm really going to be diligent about the fungus gnats this spring, so hopefully it's up to the task!
QUESTION: (please)
I'm wondering IF this
would be beneficial for
any SUCCULENTS?
Any tips would be very helpful for me. I'm very
grateful. Thank y'all! ♥️
I agree with you Trish. This is great information. Wish I had known this years ago.
Thanks Sharon! Glad you're finding value in it!

What was the ratio of hydrogen peroxide to water when trying to kill bugs in soil.? How about spray bottle for killing pests? Thanks
LOL,full strength huh,you was really fed up,how are they doing now???
Got all sorts of gardening problems so I'm gonna try this and come back for more.
Best of luck Leon....hope it helps!
Great video! I will definitely be using hydrogen peroxide in my containers! Thanks!!
Awesome Sudha, let me know how it goes for you!! :-)
Thank you, useful information without a lot of chatter which is greatly appreciated!
Thanks for that! I try more for pure information, rather than vlog style of 50-million "garden updates", LOL. Cheers!
Good advice. I've been a gardener for some years. I'll apply your advice effectively.
Cheers, best of luck next season!
Thank you for sharing this. I will do it today .
Cheers Mai! 🙂
Great information and thank you for sharing. Sometimes I have gotten a black substance on the leaves of my grafted Gardenia. What is the best thing to use to remove this from my plant?
I'm learning soooo much about cinnamon, H2O2 & Epsom Salts to use in the garden & flower beds! Thanks for mentoring us 🍅 🌼🌹🌻🌱🍓🌽
H2O2 has so many uses I'm learning! Thank you! Will try this. We're starting our first gardens and your videos are helping so much! Thank you. My 4 year old likes your videos the best 🤣👍🙏
Thanks for this info. I am new to this and I read about using vinegar and water for powdery mildew. From now on, I will use the hydrogen peroxide. Thank you for that advice.
It's all trial and error,I just started container gardening 2 weeks ago so I need all the information I can get.... New Jersey...
