Aurora is a singer, songwriter, composer and producer. So yes she wrote this song, as well as all the others she sings apart from various covers.
She never wanted to sing herself, actually just write. It is thanks to one of her friends and her mother that we are able to experience her today.
She starts with music at the age of 6. Then she found a piano in the attic. Her sister's. At the age of 9, the words were added. That's when she wrote her first song "Lucky". An anti-suicide/depression song. She kept her talent secret until 15. Not even her parents knew. She sang for the first time in a school performance. This was filmed by a friend and published without her consent. A record company became aware of her and came to her with an offer that she refused because she did not want to be known and it was uncomfortable for her as an introvert. She told her mother and she convinced her. Aurora's music seemed like medicine to her mother and it would be selfish not to share it with the world. That's how it all started.
Sidenote... Billie Elish started her career thanks to this song by Aurora.

She is great and natural artist. Love her music. For sure she was very nervous in this performance, but still she was so much into the song and performance and her voice and singing was fantastic. And I agree that these movements and expressions are a way of natural expressing her emotions. This particular song she wrote when was 11.
She has many great songs but for next would recommend "Lucky" live from Nidarosdomen (cathedral), for me it is great as a whole concert there. BTW: she started writing Lucky when she was 9 :). If you will check/listen what the song is about it is mind blowing for such a age.

She is the single most authentic, honest, original artist performing today! An incredible songwriter, producer and performer.

Her performance of Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1) at this same concert is life changing. One word of caution though, not many get through this song for the first time without shedding a tear!

First time listener. I'm really have not been in to videos where there are > 1 reactor on a video because many times there seems to be some weird power dynamic. Not with you. Aurora (Aurora Aksnes) 26 from Norway. Currently on World tour. She wrote this song at either age 9 or 11. She released her latest album (The Gods We Can Touch) earlier this year. A true talent and a wonderful person. I hope you listen to more of her live performances. She has a huge catalog of songs. She was the voice of the spirit in the Disney Frozen 2 movie song "Into the Unknown" Aurora, in an interview, said she was frightened and nervous during this performance at the beginning of her career. She never planned on being an artist. She was approached by a management company after someone posted a video on social media of Aurora singing at her school at age 16 I think.
She wrote this at 11 years old! If you liked this, then you will love her performance of Murder Song at this same venue. I'm telling you, for the love of all that is good, watch it. And film it, lol :)

After watching this video and her video AURORA - MURDER SONG (5,4,3,2,1) - The 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert I think she is so relaxed because she doesn't seem to notice the audience is there. To me it looks like it's just her and the song. Like once she starts singing, she is the music. She is living out the song in her own little world that we get to watch from a safe distance.
She wasn't just nervous for this performance.... she said in an interview just before performing that she was terrified!!

6:45 such a wonderful comment because Aurora is ALL energy. She wrote this at 10 years old thus making the lyrics even more powerful. Aurora is all about nature and being yourself free from worry or shame of what others might think of you. Every single live performance is immensely expensive but she literally goes to another place when she performs. AURORA (Aurora Aksnes) was born on June 15, 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. She is a singer, songwriter and producer.
AURORA's songs always have a strong message. Often the messages are not very clear either. They can be interpreted so that many people can relate them to themselves. Her movements when singing are extraordinary. This isn't a dance. This is her special way of expression. You can also say that she sings with her whole body. Her excellent music, her brilliant voice and her movements. AURORA's live performances are a total work of art. She is often so into the song that she shakes her body or head uncontrollably (--> Murder song, It happened quiet) and need 2-3 seconds to come back.
She is capable of transporting feelings because she allows a look into her soul. Her fans call themselves warriors and weirdos.

I believe aurora moves as she does ,and she does so whenever she sings , because she is completely ‘ in character,as is said of actors. She’s is transported by the music and the lyric, both of which she wrote. Many great singers/musicians move similarly. In opera it is said of all the great singers that not only are they spectacular singers they are also great actors. Being completely absorbed so that you are no longer aware of the audience means you are in the grove . You see it in classical music all the time whether pianist, violinist, etc. all demonstrate this characteristic in one form or another. In Aurora’s case it is also because she can’t help herself. And of course she shouldn’t. …And she’s a wood nymph.

The hand motions are not planned or practiced, they are natural expressions that come with the song. When she first was discovered after her first recorded performance someone suggested she stop moving her hand because they were distracting to the listener. She said she didnt even realize she was doing it. She tried to stop but felt it negatively impacted her performance. You should check out Murder song 5,4,3,2,1 from the same concert next and the Haik documentary and concert. She is a unique person and completely authentic.

Aurora is a strange musical creature indeed.
First time I heard Aurora's voice was at the start of "Into The Unknown" from the movie Frozen 2. That's her background vocals. I've been hooked ever since. Story telling. Her eyes draw you into the story.
Aurora transports me into her world the second she begins singing. Usually her songs are difficult for me to listen to all the way to the end. I’ll have to credit you guys :)
James Blunt is so underrated. He also came out in the Nobel Peace Prize Concert(year?).
She wrote it when she was 11 years old and she was 19 when she performed it.... it's a song about the loss of a loved one and holding on to the memory of them...she does a phenomenal interview about her process of writing it and the meaning behind the lyrics.
She's amazing. You must listen to another norwegian singer, Einar from the band Leprous. I would recommend either Below or Castaway Angels. His voice is otherworldly. He can flip up in falsetto with such ease. Love his voice.

Here’s da scoop. In case you didn’t know. As a little girl in Norway she spent a lot of time in the forest with the animals day and night and has always been special. She was terrified of performing but wanted to share her music and thoughts. Contrast with Cure For Me. Trust me. You like. 😊

It is true, one can't help but get drawn into this young lady's performance. That being said, the song itself isn't my cup of tea. So, even though I admire her artistry I wasn't much affected. If you want to hear a performer that gets lost in her song and will twist your soul while she's at it, take a listen to Lara Fabian. Her performances at the "Lara with Love" concert back in 2000 are just vocal mastery. I'd recommend Je Suis Malade, Adagio, Caruso, and Broken Vow, in that order, to start. The diction is pretty good as well. 🙂 The first song is sung in French, the second in English (available elsewhere in Italian), the third in Italian, and the last in English. I understand Lara wrote lyrics for Adagio and Broken Vow is all hers. Thanks for your reactions, I enjoy listening to your insights.
