    Oh I hated the tree tops and haunted towers charge sections so much.. and the flight levels? Don't even get me started.. I recently played (and completed in less than 9hrs) the 1st spyro.. yes I know I went through it fast but I still watched every cut scene etc.. OG spyro players like us can do stuff like that cause we know what to do and know where everything is.. but when reignited comes out I'm gonna take my time to look at the lush new designs.

    I remember the haunted towers one, that one was so hard to me as kid, and it took me forever to figure out how to get on that island thing. Those flights are also what kept me from completing the game when I was kid because they were so hard to complete for me, and even as an adult I dread having to play flight levels. ( especially that one in the beast keepers realm I hate that one so much )

  • @Ori_Kohav
    @Ori_Kohav 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When I was a kid, on my first playthrough, the only part my friend did for me is beating Metalhead. Just beating him. Getting everything in his level is something I handled myself, while he watched me and was like "wtf" when I did that sewer glide to the bottom area with the key. Also, in my follwoing playthroughs I handled that battle without help, mainly because I realized the benefits of side-rolls.
    The rest I did by myself, without a guide, but I admit it took me a long time to figure out those locations. It was in 2000, and I didn't have much Internet access at the time. The part I struggled with the most in all my playthroughs is completing "Wild Flight", which I'm surprised didn't make your list, because I remember you mentioned being annoyed by it in another video.

    • @MiharuTheFox
      @MiharuTheFox  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel like it's unfair to other levels if I include Flights, because then the whole list would be made up of that.

    • @Ori_Kohav
      @Ori_Kohav 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see why people think that, but I beg to differ. The flight levels, I found them pretty easy. Especially Night Flight.
      Though Wild Flight is an exception, mainly because of the boats and arches. Getting the trophy for completing it without landing will be a struggle.

  • @snailgirl6
    @snailgirl6 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I don't care how many times I replay spyro 1, I will always hate that:
    - The dry canyon one is too vague and my first time meant that I was wondering around and staring at that weird area.
    - I still stress out in that whole secret area around Anika, because the glides suddenly get super picky and I wish spyro had his extra wing flap from 2 and 3. I still die there...
    - I'm still trying to figure out how to conquer the frog cave unscathed...
    - Nowadays I can do tree tops almost without dying, but my main issue is that I don't like the constant level backtracking. I like levels I can do in about one lap, with a little exploring for some secrets.
    - But my hardest part ever (and still is to this day!!!) is the las few gems in the Metalhead stage. The ones at the very end that you get up a small whirlwind and glide across from a narrow ledge. Oh man; the ledge is to small to gain momentum, the camera can't be moved, and it has to be *SUPER* precise, or your never gonna make it!!!

    • @MiharuTheFox
      @MiharuTheFox  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aw jeez, those gems in Metalhead are the worst. Fortunately for the PAL players, that's only a problem that exists in the NTSC version. I hope they fix that in Reignited.

    My #1 is the final battle with Gnorc. I just... Didn't finish the game because of that! I was chasing Gnorc in a circle for a 50 times, and never caught up. It's lilbit sad, cause I loved Spyro the Dragon with all my heart, but as a child I didn't finish it. I didn't play other games of trilogy, cause I just didn't know that they existed, cause I was born in Russia.

    In "Reignited" at least, what's even harder than the supercharge in Haunted Towers is what comes right after, where you have to climb the stairs before the wizard can bring all the suits of armor to life and you can't get through...It's also kinda scary and intense, especially with all the knights laughing around you...

  • @Mezcon2

    Omg, this brought back so many memories of dying over and over in tree tops trying to get that glide right. Was very glad they introduced hang glides in the next game to give you that little bit of imph at the end. Because I would be so close and smack spyros head against the wall, causing him to fall. Ugh. good times.

    Missing THAT glide while on Charmed Ridge. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.
    Or better than that, trying to reach the platform in Artisans.
    But nothing compares to missing ONE GEM and having to run around the whole level for about 15 minutes, getting increasingly angrier.

    I totally agree with this list because playing through for the first time I had the exact same issues with each stage/dragon, I remember wondering where that fool in Jacques was supposed to have something triggered and how to get to that area where Unika is before realising that lowered that high pillar to get there, the attack frogs at that cave in Misty Bog still frustrate me today and the area of the dragon Copano in Haunted Towers was the last I ever got as I was wondering how to get over to that area and I could hear the dragon right above the supercharge area wondering where it was coming from

    3:07 I remember when I had this game and found that dragon. Mom was walking by at the time and when she heard Spyro say that she immediately took the disk out of my PS put it in its case, and while still holding it she called Sony and I heard her shouting for 5 hours. I wasn't allowed to play a Spyro game again until I begged for 5 whole months. And as pathetic as that sounds, keep in mind that for me throughout the entirety of my life getting my hands on a game in which I get to play as a dragon is, and always has been, next to impossible.
    In fact in order to actually succeed in getting my hands on a game in which I could play as a dragon, I knew a guy, his name was Lucifer S.A. Tan. I'd plead with him, and he would always give me these games in the end, but in order to get him to give me what I wanted first I had to do really weird chores for him, such as TPing a church, walking into a school and peeing on a chalk board during the middle of a important class, or luring a entire town's population of dogs into a forest by dressing up as a slice of meat.

    Good list- definitely Tree Tops for me. Even though I had the guide and read it so much that I practically had it memorized, I wasn't good at SuperCharge. I had such anxiety about it cuz I'd gotten Game Overs attempting it and failing. Haunted Towers, I haven't had trouble with since my first playthrough. But in Reignited...OMG!! That just got so much harder. I'd died at least 5 times trying to reach it cuz I can't seem to get enough height to reach the area.
    Also I want to add the Supercharge in Lofty Castle. At least you have the option to bail out if you see you don't have the height, but just having to go back over and over just to get the height needed to reach that area with the locked chest- geesh, what a pain. Definitely agree with the Misty Bog sentiment. My pulse always goes up when I get to that point

Than she had to learn the super charge which also was tricky for her. Fast forward to me playing it, I always shoot for that dragon first when I start haunted towers cause that fairy gives you super flame that lasts the whole level (unless you die) and it comes handy to flame the knights without worrying about the time running out on the super flame

    Yes, finally someone that agrees with me! That jump in Haunted Tower is worse than Tree Tops! In Tree Tops, you can follow the thief and find out the right track. But in Haunted Towers how the heck you're supposed to think about those moves???!! I managed to clear the level as a child thanks only to my older brother.

    I don’t know how, but I completed this game all on my own as a kid, like I said, I don’t know how, I think I was just good at observing and understanding the levels lay out. Obviously, with tree tops, you have a guide, so it’s not so bad, but Haunted Towers doesn’t help you at all. I recently played the reignited trilogy, and for some reason could not keep up with the thief, even though I had no problem in the original, and I actually had to TH-cam it to figure out the route. That thief really does help

    I've always had trouble with Misty Bog in general, not just the room filled to the brim with Attack Frogs and armored Gnorcs. The living trees scared the heck out of me, the frogs were annoyingly quick to attack, and the boars would come in right behind an armored Gnorc right before you charge into them thus getting yourself trampled by them in the process. To this day, Misty Bog is still my least favorite level in the game, even worse than Tree Tops...

    I replayed through Spyro 1 for the first time since I was 6 a few months back. It's worth noting I'm now 26. And I had to look up a video on how to find Maximos after running around like a chicken with it's head cut off for about 20 minutes. The only other thing I needed a video for was to learn the path in Tree Tops to reach the final dragon. Side note, Tree Tops is actually my favorite level.

    Spyro 1 was the hardest. After playing Riptos Rage and Year of the Dragon, I notice each game has it's own flaw but also notice that Spyro 1 lacked because of it's flight. I felt spoiled playing 2/3 with the hover ability but wish it was on the first game. :(

    At number 5. I don't know.... one thing I like about that was it takes a bit of problem solving. You see a spot you can't reach so you explore the area for a spot that you think you could reach it from.
    I know you were a kid at the time but experimenting with that kind of mechanic was something I thought was fun

    • @MiharuTheFox
      @MiharuTheFox  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, like I said, I didn't experiment with things in games as a kid. If I couldn't figure something out (especially if it was something other people had figured out easily), I would get sad because my anxiety would act up and I would feel stupid and left out. Even today, I feel like I'm always being judged on how good I am at something or how fast I am at getting it done. Video games are stressful.

    • @nekonomicon2983

      @@MiharuTheFox ironic given video games are made for the completely opposite purpose.
      Of course I don't get anxiety from games I can understand how it can make you feel dumb when you can't solve a particular part but that's part of the challenge and fun of a game.
      Even when you are unable to get through with it on your own finding out the solution through other means can be satisfying as well.

    #5: It...wasn't too bad. Then again, I was more willing to try to see what works.
    #4: This, I had no problem with. Took a bit of trial and error, though, and I pretty much got it rather easily.
    #3: That's one reason why I don't consider Misty Bog a favorite level of mine. (Then again, Tree Tops sucked that much harder IMO)
    #2: Fuck that one supercharge jump! And fuck that other jump to reach that high-up area near the exit!
    #1: IMO, still nowhere near as bad as Tree Tops' supercharge jumps. (Sorry, I really hated that level as a kid, and I still don't like it now.) Still, took a bit to figure out.
