    Hi Rod I really appreciate your channel, I am one of the persons that asked about this Lake and saw your rep,y about not telling where the lake is , Thank you , For me I have done a lot of exploring the back roads all up the weaver lake area and farther , both sides of Harrison , the lakes up by Chilliwack lake , up to a bunch of lakes past Pemberton , I was not asking to go and raid the spots I can’t go any more , I have been dealing with heart failure and other health issues , I was just curious, enjoying watching you fish and catching those nice trout , but I have figured out the spot and have been there before plus the other small lakes on both sides of the roadmany years ago except there was no dock then , Thankyou

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's good. I don't have a problem telling people where it is, just not publicly. I much rather encourage everyone to use the existing resources to find these lakes, which is pretty easy to do. FYI, at some point this year, this and a few other lakes are receiving new floating docks, which will be much nicer than existing ones and providing better access for anglers with limited options.

    Try using shrimp off the bottom. Same bottom rig you were using (basically a carolina rig) except use as small a hook as possible and thread a really small dark colored corky before the hook. Pin the corky right by the hook. The corky will float up and keep your shrimp from sitting flat on the bottom. It'll float up enough to get into the strike zone. I use this with shrimp, nightcrawlers, single salmon eggs, you name it. Great video Rod!

    I enjoy winter trout fishing too. I prefer using a float and still find it productive in winter, as long as I use very small pieces of bait. Shrimp and night crawler worms both work great. Often there are very few fish rising but they’ll still bite about 5’ below a float.

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah unfortunately our freshwater fishing regulations limit anglers to one rod per person if fishing from shore, or two rods per person if the angler is by him or herself in the boat. This is to prevent those who do not have a licence to illegally fish with a licenced angler who could then just claim the rod as his or her own when being checked by an officer. A stamp/tag system for one extra rod would be nice for sure.

    Nice video Rod 🎣. The rig you was using with the Shrimps , in England is called a Pat&Oster. Or a modified drop shoot rig . Not alot of Fisherman use it anymore. I use it quite often, especially for long range casting. As all you will lose is the weight manly, if you get snagged. Using a lower brakeing strane line then your main line ( using a surgan knot ) to connect lines together. One more. You can also use a helicopter rig. Using stopper beads either side ot the swivel, so you can control the depth you are fishing.

I sure would like to see some footage (if your'e up for it next summer) of the Goat river, the Granby river, and any Kettle valley rivers, as they seem to get through freshet earlier than a lot of other rivers, so are fishable earlier on.

    Hi Rod I have the same boat as you the G3 1442 and I also have the same truck. I'm weighing the pros and cons if I should get a rooftop rack or a boat trailer. When you're driving on the highway does the truck feel unstable in the wind? Do you have trouble getting into underground parking lots?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the pros and cons are always running through my head about this as well. The pros for having this boat loader/rack is I can get into some lakes where it's impossible for trailered boats to access. Safety wise it's also better than the trailer since it's pretty much impossible to remove the boat without my remote control. The cons, there are several. Underground parking is impossible, so I have to plan ahead (the same could be said about trailer really). The other con is that it can get time consuming and labouring to unload the boat, set it up before going out, whereas with the trailer you can just drop the boat into the water. One more thing about my electric boat loader, is that the 1442 is probably the biggest craft it can pull and I always recommend that a 12 or 10 footer would be more ideal for the loader. I've had the motor of the loader changed once because it was losing its power, the boat can be too heavy for it to pull up. If you are just using a roof rack, I'm not sure how you can load a 1442 by yourself with it. It usually takes three people to move that boat around.

    • @joshanderson924
      @joshanderson924 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FishingwithRod I've seen people put transom wheels so the boat can be rolled around upside down with one end on the ground. I was thinking you might be able to get one side propped up onto the rear bar then slide the boat forward but yes it's very big and heavy for a Jon boat and probably easier said than done. But hey thank you for the response I appreciate that.

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh one more thing I forgot to add! Back to your question about whether the boat affects the driving. It doesn't. With my boat loader, I actually don't even tie it down with additional straps beside the ropes connected to the loader. Once that boat is on there and the motor tightens up the ropes, you can't even move it. I drive through some pretty heavy wind in this area with the boat on top and never have had an issue. Fuel performance though, is a bit painful. Loading the boat manually with wheels is probably doable. I know for sure that I can't do it, because I'm too short and only weigh 130lb, i'd end up being crushed by it lol.

    Sometimes I like to put a berkley poweregg on right above or just on the eye of the hook, then a dough ball covering the shank of the hook so that if the dough is ever knocked off then the egg can still be there to hopefully seal the deal lol, just gotta make sure you use a light hook that can float with only one poweregg, I use the owner mosquito hook in size 8 and it floats perfectly. The dough puts more scent in the water but the egg is def more durable lol.

      So if I make a small glittery chartreuse cupcake out of it, you wouldn't eat it? 😆

    What lake is this?

      It is one of two dozen lakes stocked with these rainbow trout by GoFishBC/FFSBC in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley (Region 2). You can do a search in the database:
      www.gofishbc.com/Stocked-Fish.aspx
      And use their "Where to fish" section to find it. It should be pretty easy. 👍
