The little town I live in has about 950 people and are not really preppers BUT many have gardens and chickens, many heat with wood, many have outdoor rainwater storage to water their gardens, many people pressure can from their gardens, there are orchards and fields and lots of cattle. This is just naturally a community where if people help each other and accept help, we would do well in SHTF.
This is just rural area life. But, even the Red Cross says people should be ready to take care of themselves, their family, and their community in an emergency. Outside help doesn't always arrive quickly. Rural areas know this.
My husband & l go to yardsales and l'm always on the lookout for paperback/hardback books for our "survival library." I have collected a very nice geouping of books from gardening, electrical, medical, car repair, home repair, plumbing, etc. If l can't use them, I can trade them.
I shop a local thrift store dumpster. Hard to believe how many preparedness books (most in excellent condition) I’ve salvaged in the past year. I agree 💯% that a great paper & ink preparedness library is a necessity.
I am 67 yrs old and I started when I was 24 yrs old stocking my pantry cabinets and freezer with food. I also stock up on toilet paper, shower items and personal items for my family. I hate going to the stores every week. Thank you for all the information on prepping
I left South Carolina in 2000 because I believed that we were going to see a drastic change in the economy. I bought a farm in Kentucky. I’ve been preparing for 24 years now and still not convinced I’m ready.
I’m in South East Kentucky myself. I consider Kentucky one of the best States to live. Low population density, varied terrain, and no nuclear power plants.
I’ve heard an electric car fire is impossible to extinguish. The vehicle has to be submerged in water completely for 24 hours because it can reignite multiple times.
I think those people are justifiably proud of what they have accomplished, and they also want to inspire others to stock up for a rainy day. But yes, it can be dangerous because there's nothing people like better than to talk about what someone else has. And that's when someone decides they need your stuff.
I will say asfar as lithium batteries go, ive had my phone go into thermal shut down while charging because it got hot in the car in the sun, im glad i noticed because i believe it definitely would have burst eventually. Though these devices have protocols in place to prevent batteries bursting during normal operation, just make sure batteries arent near heat sources including in the open sunshine
One of my best friends had a house fire, started by a lithium battery charged drill. Her house almost burned down. I have since encountered two more people who have had total loss of homes due to lithium battery fires. Never leave them plugged in when you are away, or over night. Keep them in a cool place. Consider a designated metal 'cage' for batteries. Do research.
Terrific video all. My wife and I recently started stacking silver to preserve our money. Good advice. Great to hear Sarah Mac asking questions. Nice improvement on the audio over the last few months. Thanks for everything
I’ve started 2 1/2 years ago on full throttle food surplus having trouble Dvor, optic planet gun mag warehouse and west coast Ammo warehouse water and food is hard. Buying gear is on a daily emergency surplus is but working on skills and gardening
In the prepper world, 3 is 2 2 is 1 1 is none However, I say even in the prepper 300 flashlights is just too many, hoarder. Especially if you fail to cover other area of your prep.
People that Prep need to test out their new and old equipment because there are products say they can do things that they can’t or it takes certain conditions to work!! Test in all conditions not just perfect no rain conditions you need to know how it works after three days of rain and everything is not in perfect order! If not you will regret it!! And I found out that in really bad weather conditions having 8 charcoal briquettes will get a fire stated better than most of the fire starters sold in store s as long as you keep them dry and a little charcoal lighter fluid, or plain 90% rubbing alcohol and even with out starter fluid it will work great even when products like will light and products that work well in semi wet conditions but will let you down after a 3 day heavy rain event!
I say, start with the focus on for one week with the rule of threes in your home, then move up to two weeks. After you have two weeks, start on three weeks, and fire safety. Then four weeks, and savings. Yes, fitness and education. Begin to pick up being ready to walking from your vehicle to somewhere on your route after you have a month backup both in stock and funds. Later, complete your minimum get all the way home plans and pack while continuing going from one month to a two month stock at home (with rotation). There also is organizing and decluttering your things so that you can easily find things quickly. It will and should that time to get beyond that one month mark. You need the budget, the savings, the slow purchases, the planning, the learning, the practice. All this takes time and effort from both you and your spouse. Then, there is making the learning fun for your kids. Readying isn't crazy. There are plenty of examples which have happened in the last fifty years: storms, hurricanes (Katrina), the Texas winter storm of 2021, fires, wildfires, bridge failures, Covid, economic down-turn, or the just personal matters: job lost, ill parent, car break down, house fire.
I am about 100 dollars from being complete with gear. In the processes of changing out cook pan and pots over to titanium. Because its light and very duraable. 2nd is i finally set up and went through gear to have a very good set up. Problem is i don't have a backcountry bag large enough to fit it all in. This pack is set as a backcountry pack no shovel and tools for bugout. Right now I'm in a Alpine Lowe 90 liter. The list of needs and number of bags is endless. I even have a pack with winter gear such as 2 sizes of snow shoes walking stick, snow shovel, ice cleats. And this is all my gear my girls gear is in another room to i leave it alone. All gear left over is sleeping bags, pads, couple packs, about 10 winter coats. Trying to fing a truck headed to the southeast to donate all this over stock. Bought esse ant, 3,4,7 and use the ant the most. Selling esse 3,4 and okc rat 7
A while ago I read a comment from a homesteader that basically said that they made their homestead their little piece of heaven, so much so that they don't want to leave to go on vacation because it's a lot more stressful than staying home. This isn't for everyone, but it's a good goal to aim dor
I live in a 14 x 28 tiny home i built behind the mane house i have a steel roof so my potable water comes from my roof and the main house with asphalt shingles supplies water for gey water uses
There are osmosis systems that adds minerals back in. Looking at the ultra violet light one... also the one that is portable to take with you when you are traveling ITIEL one
I believe like you do that gold and silver will continue to rise in value for this simple reason. Theres not any more being created. It is a finite supply and can and will run out at some point!
Where should someone start? I understand about buying extra goods and whatnot. But, how much? My goal is to build a week at a time for 7 people. Thank you
I'm an average blue collar working American who like many of us are struggling just to keep the lights on let alone food on the table. I want to protect my family but even the price of a decent fire arm is ridiculous.
My grandparents wouldn't have a rooster. When they needed more hands they would rent a rooster for a few days, or they would buy chicks from a neighboring farm that had a rooster.
I don't think that's how it usually works. A MAG that already exists doesn't just take in new members, unless, you are something they really need, like a doctor. If you want to be part of a MAG, you have to meet people, get to know them, start conversations that don't actually give away anything but help you begin to understand what they are like. After you get to know them, if they seem like-minded, you could begin asking deeper questions, but keep in mind that if they are OPSEC minded, they will only share with you if you are willing to share with them. Eventually, you have friendships with like-minded people, and then you can introduce the idea of forming a MAG with them.
It takes triple the water to put out an EV fire. They have also designed a car cover post fire because it can keep flaring up and re-ignite for days. Worst idea ever!
I bought a portable fireproof / waterproof safe from Walmart since I was on a road trip the entire summer. I did research on the brand I bought and it was all good. Sorry if this doesn't help.
Safe inside a safe inside a safe. Redundancy. Much depends on fire 🔥 load, location in structure, time until structure 🔥 is extinguished, temperatures generated, etc.
Based on what I have been seeing in the redacted news, I would also recommend that you include your pets and livestock in your preps....mainly their security and safety. Pay attention to your animals behavior is part of being situational awareness. 🦮🐱🐖🐎🐑

Coffee filters work great as a pre-filter for your rain catchment system
Grabbed a pile of them when dollar tree was still $1
Cheap too !
To re-oxygenate water that has been in storage for a long, just connect a fish tank air bubblier to it for half an hour for each gallon.

Totally agree about physical copies of prepping books. Drives me nuts that so many of them are offered as digital copies only. Make it make sense! 😞
I AGREE
Print it out yourself and save the money
You could save it on a Memory Stick for a laptop, or SD card for a mobile (cell) phone.
@@donovanwilson418 Know I could, but am not going to add 3-ring binders to my bookshelf. Will happily pay more for an actual book.

I read that it took firefighters over 50k gallons of water to put out a tesla on a California highway a few days ago
Yep
If you make the mistake of hoarding....at least hoard food. This is not about short term calamity....its gonna be long term.

Bleach in water lasts six months MAX. It degrades quickly. You have to keep refilling containers
Consider a hypochlorite making device? Salt & water to bleach 😉
Don't forget cleaning kits, and spare parts.

Is it safer to store your ammo in a fire proof safe? Or will that create a bomb, during a house fire?
Ammo pops off in a structure fire depending on direct flame 🔥 impingement, temperatures, etc. Rarely is a true danger.
But has anyone considered full scale invasion. And radiation.
SensiblePrepper has had quite a few videos on those topics. If you search through his videos and find them, you will really enjoy them.
I have a rotation of drinking water. I date the gallon jugs and after awhile I trash the jug.
