USACO gold problems are definitely harder than the problems given in the classes, but there are many more concepts in those courses and they teach them in a lot more depth If you're in USACO gold, they'll probably be fairly easy for you, but they would be somewhat hard for silver and bronze competitors
Technically since Silver does not have much of the Gold Material (Advanced Graph Algorithms, Dynamic Programming, and etc.), is learning Complete Data Structures and Algorithms necessary, if you just want to get to Gold? Clarification: By learning Data Structures and Algorithms completely, I mean learning things like Spanning Trees, Kruskal, etc.
You probably don't have to, but learning algorithms helps with problem solving cuz it teaches you how to use coding in clever ways (I would recommend it, but yes you don't technically need it)
As a sophomore would it be possible to go from silver to platinum before college applications? I got to silver through java so that would also mean learning c++
it honestly doesn't rly matter what topic, as long as it keeps you engaged and motivated to work through the book here's a reply I sent to someone who asked a similar question: Whichever book interests you the most :D they all teach similar problem solving skills, and the more interested you are in the book the more problems you'll do and the more you'll learn from it just make sure to get something that's the right difficulty for you: the challenge problems should be fairly hard for you, but not impossible (if you're not super into competitive math, I would start with one of the intro books, you can't really go wrong with intro to algebra)
it depends a lot on your current skill level (there are people who barely study and make camp and there are people who study hours every day and don't get past silver) If u want a more tailored answer feel free to dm me :DD
Hey man was wondering how you took Berkley 61B was looking at the course after your cs extracurricular since it seems that its only open to berkley accoutns

Hey Cararra, I have a question how did u manage to do all these extra curriculars such as usaco, and many other bowls along with school. Can you make a video on time management if you already did what videos do u have on it?
If you check out my tips for high schoolers playlist, I have a lot of videos on productivity and time management :D th-cam.com/play/PLtLxhThTxJMUtTnKZmoeeqYc2FpEfu-J5.html
Thank you so much Cararra! Totally loved this video, super useful!!!
I got destroyed on US open for bronze last year. Been grinding ever since and ambitious but my goal is to make usaco plat next season!!
@Sai Naru Keeping each other on track sounds great! I'm down.

How was the december contest for u in 2021? I'm in bronze and I'm planning to start grinding as well.

These videos are awesome. You are so helpful
You've taken some coding classes at Berkeley already, right? Would you say USACO was easier or harder than those classes?

Idea: Solve hard USACO Silver problems with Python

do you recommend taking the aops cs courses (for python)
I haven't actually tried them so I can't say but there are a lot of good free resources so I doubt they are necessary :D

yea definitely just do what he says and grind through it. I know people who went from bronze to plat in 4 months
How exactly should I develop problem solving skill? Just do the math problems in aops? What topic?

realistically how far could one get in usaco starting rn working hard everyday?

You can take it if you apply to berkeley precollege :D precollege.berkeley.edu/
