I don't know if anyone has noticed, but Juan Moreno seems to have adopted the cut kick strategy already even before PSS came to be. Quite interesting to see how he applied it back in the old school era

I got the honor to train at the us Olympic training camp for Tae Kwon Do in Colorado Springs in early 1992 ish and he was a coach there… great guy!!

The Korean basically fought with one leg. He injured his right leg in previous match and could only kick with his left leg. Moreno probably should have won the match but the Korean was impressive in his own right. Respects to two champs for an epic fight!

Impresive or not points is what wins the fight and clearly Juan outscored the Korean. Even if the score was tied Juan was the aggressor the entire fight. If being impressive was some kind of standard then Juan beating the legendary Dae Sung Lee not once but twice in the team trials to make the team was the most impressive thing Ive ever seen

@@jeffleong9986 According to an inside source (my boyfriend's dad is the "Korean") um, he was fighting with a concussion and he still whooped his ass lmao. btw, the American lost to him in the world champions. Juan is 0-2 against that "Korean". LMAOOOO

@@dragonfruithair553 ...It didn't look like Mr. Concussion dude was whooping ass to me. It looks to me that Juan Moreno was chasing him all over the place and landing shots while the other dude was just trying to survive. So, one can conclude that Juan Moreno also got robbed in that world championships that you are talking about since they most likely had Korean judges there. As for the fighting with one leg and with the concussion, excuses are like belly buttons. Everybody's got one. I am sure that Juan didn't feel sorry for him since he had to go all through the fights, too. So, I'm sure he was banged up, too. Come at me, bro. My Tiger Kung-fu is better than yours. I don't think you're good enough to avenge your master.

Enough of your BS. Your boy LOST, period. His leg was hurt. So what about it. He L. Why didn't the American, who WON, hurt his leg? They both had to go through all the preliminary rounds. He just didn't. Some of the competitors get injuries bad enough in their very first bout to not continue. It just happens. I'm putting myself out on a limb here, but I believe it's considered a contact sport

Heart aches decision..... today PSS system makes at least more fair for the competitors... and Juan Moreno runs a very successful Taekwondo programs.. so I guess he got his gold victory in real life...

I met Juan in 1988 at my cousins house in Zion Illinois. I was visiting my cousins and Juan’s dad picked me up at the airport. Juan clearly should have won this match.

Moreno didn't do anything except defending against the one legged Korean. I give him that back-kick only. Korean was much better.

Of course the blue side in winner. It is very clear that blue side deserved to win the match. I dont understand why people think it was wrong decision. Blue side has 5 or 6 points more than opponent. I have lots of gold medal in national tournament. We watched this match with 7 old taekwondo fighters. We all agreed that blue side is the winner of this match.

What a mess WTF TKD is. It was a sad day for all martial arts, and Taekwondo in particular, when WTF TKD stupidity became an olympic event. The south Korans messed up TKD only for political reason, as IFT founder GCHI was pro North Korean/all countries under the IFT banner. This lead to the most useless/impracticable martial art on the scene, WTF TKD, getting onto our TV screens. Meanwhile the infinitely more practical and much more balanced/exciting IFT TKD was kept away. In hindsight, it could be argued that sport WTF TKD is not remotely a material art, just a rules based kicking exercise, for people who cannot punch or defend themselves in the street. I once took a Gf to a WTF competition and told her it was martial arts for people who had lost the use of their hands, she kept saying how it was so great, that handicapped people can play these kinds of sports too, lol (True story)

I dont know why people think the red side deserved to win the match. The blue side definetely has more point than red side. I did taekwon-do many years and it is very obvious that blue side should have the gold medal. There is no any wrong decision in that macth.
