The reason for this is that idioms are used differently in different English-speaking countries and even in different locations within those countries. It was interesting to learn some new ones.
For sure. I naturally thought she was American until her pronunciation of certain words caught my ear. Got me confused and then I read your comment. Her ‘L’ sound is a bit off, like in ‘building’ and ‘call’. Impressive.

As a native English speaker, I understand that “having the blues” means you’re melancholic or even depressed. I feel that I should caution non-native speakers from asking someone or referring to someone as “have the blues” because it can sound dismissive of how they really feel.
As a native English speaker, I've also noticed a generational gap when it comes to use of idioms. The elderly seem to use different expressions than the young. For example, I've never heard anyone under 50 say "paint the town red". Us Millennials seem to use metaphors more than expressions or sayings. Slang is an interesting thing.

There’s also weird emotions associated with colors that are sometimes opposites Red - anger, love Orange - energy Yellow - happiness Green - sickness, healing Blue - sad, calm Purple - royalty, posh Black - unknown, funerals Gray - mediocre, professionalism White - purity in religious ways, usually paired with gold, weddings
This is kind of orange and apple comparison. Depend on how much time you spend on each class. English 101 might teach you how to write, read, sentence structure,...only in a semester or quarter. You'd never come back again after passing it. I took it too.

"Blue blood" is equally present in Hungarian. The nobles were so named because they were less affected by the Sun, and they were still in long attire, so they had so white and thin skin that they almost shone through their veins. So simple. :)
You are the best teacher that i have ever seen ,Marina ,I'm really impressed about your method of teaching english for a young student like me>i hope that you will be my future teacher, you deserve it
You are amazing!! I swear, I love your videos!! May I just give you a piece of advice? In my modest opinion, you should try to speak slower, put the subtitles in English in all your videos and, finally, to give more examples in order to contextualise. For example, I love the fact that you use serials as examples but it would be better if you put the whole scene and not just a sentence, in order to better understand how to use that specific expression. I hope you don't mind about these suggestions! I love your style!
Yep. ... or ANOTHER ONE: "An elephant in the room." (Like you, I'm also "Born In The USA....sing it, Bruce !!!). Hello, Midwesterner, from the South ... (handwaving going on...)

I am from Bangladesh. I love to watch and learn from your videos.
Your channel is really useful, it helped me alot
I think may be ..
You are one of those who can speak for hours with themselves, watching in the mirror😅❤
Such an amazing teacher!!❤❤
There’s also weird emotions associated with colors that are sometimes opposites
Red - anger, love
Orange - energy
Yellow - happiness
Green - sickness, healing
Blue - sad, calm
Purple - royalty, posh
Black - unknown, funerals
Gray - mediocre, professionalism
White - purity in religious ways, usually paired with gold, weddings
Don't sound like natives, because nothing turns people quickly than nonnative tries to sound like natives.
@@seanleith5312 what do you mean? I’m a native English speaker. I’m only on here because I wanted to see what people learning English learn
Hi everyone from Uzbekistan🤗🙌🙌
Know most of it, but it’s fun listen to you explaining. It’s so easy to understand.
There’s a black horse too
thankyou for your teaching Marina, I'm interested to learn English from your channel
I always love the way she says "bye bye"..... Only for this,I watch till the end!😅
Thank you so much for those useful idioms . I'm taking my notes 😉💜
I learn more from Linguamarina than English 101 class in University
Hiii
agreed
yeahhh😍 me too
This is kind of orange and apple comparison. Depend on how much time you spend on each class. English 101 might teach you how to write, read, sentence structure,...only in a semester or quarter. You'd never come back again after passing it. I took it too.
This video is great!!....I'm a sucker for Linguamarina ♥️♥️
Idioms are really helpful when it comes to learning and understanding new language. Thank you!!!
U are a life saver.....I was hoping for this
you inspired me to create my own channel about English
That's awesome, I was inspired to start my own page recently too! Great way to learn :)

miss marina you make my day .when i watch your videos it is very helpful for me because i am native speaker and English is my second language. and i am learning to speak English thank you Mariana your videos are very helpful for me a lot of respect for you ❤️
Huge respect to you ma'am for the hard work you're putting into these videos, i know it's not easy for you being a mom to reconcile between raising your child and produce quality content.👏
"Blue blood" is equally present in Hungarian. The nobles were so named because they were less affected by the Sun, and they were still in long attire, so they had so white and thin skin that they almost shone through their veins. So simple. :)
Same in Turkish too
Марина , спасибо вам огромное! Видео шикарное, как раз нужны идиомы для IELTS WRITING. 😍🤗
You are the best teacher that i have ever seen ,Marina ,I'm really impressed about your method of teaching english for a young student like me>i hope that you will be my future teacher, you deserve it
Once in a blue moon!!! I've used that in my last essay!
I love your style!
could not agree more👍
Good idea, except that if she used longer clips she might get copyright strikes.
I like u very much marina and the way u explain :)
I'm from india
A white elephant where I'm from (central USA) is an unwanted gift.
Yep. ... or ANOTHER ONE: "An elephant in the room." (Like you, I'm also "Born In The USA....sing it, Bruce !!!). Hello, Midwesterner, from the South ... (handwaving going on...)
Nothing new but a good reminder/revision. Thx.

In Indonesia, blue blood means you're a rich people, and black sheep means the calls for someone who is trouble makers
I was beside myself with excitement when I saw that you made a video on idioms, Marina!
Idioms are the bee's knees when it comes to sounding like a native :)
