Great Video! I bought the 20 watt along with the extensions probably 7 or 8 months ago, still haven't gotten around to getting it going. I did finally put it together about three months ago. I'm going to try to get it running next week. Your video makes it look pretty easy!
@@chaddiy3512LOL, right now I can't even figure out how to home the thing🙂 My CNC has a home all axis that moves the spindle to the home position. Can't find anything like that here. Edit: Apparently the big round button "sets" home. Not sure how you can ever have a consistent home this way. Right now I'm trying to print a pattern on black anodized aluminum. The pattern on the screen is there when the mouse hovers over it but goes to solid black otherwise. It isn't printing anything, I tried it on some of the sample wood that came with it and it's just making a black surface like is seen on the screen when the mouse isn't hovering over it. I'm going to need to do some studying to get this thing working I think.
Thanks for the video. Just got my D1 pro yesterday. Set up was easy but making things looks daunting. I assume it is all trial and error as far as getting the settings you need? Use scrap wood until you are ready?
Hello, yes...scrap wood is a good idea until you get things figure out. Xtools website has great info where you can search for materials you are using and match it up to your machine, and it will give you the recommended settings.
Thanks for the video. I have one of these units. Question please. Is there any way to repeat a laser process if you move the laser head out of the way to inspect what you just lasered? Can you set it back again to the precise spot? I see the x and y numbers on the screen but they don’t seem to change when I move the laser head aside. I was hoping I could write those numbers down and then move the head around until the numbers match up again and then engrave a second time if needed. I use creative space too. Thanks.
Hello, I'm sorry...but I'm not sure if there is way to do this with the xtool software. I thought lightburn software might have this option, but maybe someone else could chime in to confirm that.
Hi. I use the the stepper function to move my head away and back. This can be found on the process screen where you can choose to Frame the project. Top left of the screen, four arrows = Up, Down, Right and Left. Step the head away, counting the number of times you click on each direction and then stepping back using the same number of clicks. Hope this helps.
@@ianmacgowan4335 Wow, that is such a GREAT IDEA. Thanks so much for adding it here. I can’t wait to try it. This could save me a lot of headaches. Really appreciate you adding that info here. 👍
@@ianmacgowan4335 Let me ask another question please. When I add text and select the text, it adds the handles around the text. If I pull on the handles in the corners, it stretches it out keeping the dimensions but just increasing them. If I pull on one of the handles in the middle, not the corners, it does the same thing instead of actually stretching the text. I’m trying to use the full dimensions of a piece of wood, let’s say 10" long but only 4" high. I’ve tried entering the actual numbers on the screen but the software changes them so the dimensions are in sync. When that didn’t work I tried stretching it out with the handles around the text and that didn’t work. For example, if I wanted the word "STOP" on a long board but only 4, 5" inches high I can’t get that to work. It will take 10" long but then changes the height to something like 8", to keep the dimensions, which then falls off the printing surface of the board. Thanks.
So I have a couple of questions about using this how easy is it to figure out as far as where to put the product your working on for example to left middle top bottom etc and also for example doing one item vs 5 also it is harder to small items such as dog tags on this I'm asking about this because I saw a video where a big project shifted because it was going to fast thanks
Hello, My opinion is this is the easiest diode laser to line things up because it shines a laser beam down on your material so you know exactly where it is going to start. When doing multiple items, it is a good idea to create a jig first. That way you can repeat the process time after time without anything changing.
@chaddiy3512 ok thanks for the info I was wondering because my girlfriend has a cricut and I know you have to make sure you have the vinyl in thetop right spot and basically copy and paste design to fill up whole page so that's why I was asking BTW do you have any videos on making a jig yet just haven't had a chance to check out all your videos but definitely plan to also have you done any dog/pet tags? Thanks for help

Hello, this xtool laser is really easy to use. The software makes it simple to get started with the basics right away. Have fun!

Hey man, I bought the same one. Though, the Xtool software does not look like this. This layout here looks much better.
Is this the older version?
Hello, yep...the software has changed now. I think it is a little more confusing starting off, but it has a lot more features, which is nice!
Gotcha. Thanks for the quick reply!
Lightburn is badass. I don't think it's complicated
assembly video great - software part not so good..... needs narration to explain what your doing, not music
Hey, thanks for the comment...I will use that advice in future videos.
