    Great insights! I made my paint from gemstones and used 60ml Gum Arabic Solution , 5ml Honey Watercolor Medium, 5ml Glycerin, 2 drops Oxgall, 2 drops Clove Essential Oil. This recipe makes a great Watercolor binder.

    Great video! I have some dye powders I made last winter. I'd love to try my hand at this soon. Can you recommend a source for the muller, glass pallet & binder ? Thank you so much

    Have you ever tried painting on fabric with your own watercolours?
    Also, as someone who's never made paint before; what does mulling do exactly? You blended the paint together with the palette knives, what does the mulling process do for the paint?

    • @thebarefootdyer
      @thebarefootdyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I’ve painted on fabric with my pigments using other binders such as gum Arabic and soy. It works wonderfully! The mulling breaks the particles down as fine as possible.

      @@thebarefootdyer Do you know how to prevent lake pigments from fading over time?

      @@thebarefootdyer I know this is an old video but I noticed this comment and wanted to say that I would really love if you made a video on using soy as a binder to paint on fabrics. I am imagining just mixing soy milk into the lake but feel that is probably way to simple of a thought and there is probably a process. Thank you!

    Hi! I happened upon this video while searching for instructions on how to make purple watercolor paint from the logwood extract powder I bought, and thought I'd ask if you happen to know how to do so. Lutea brand logwood purple watercolor is horribly expensive at about $30 per 9ml tube, so I'd rather try making my own.
    (Adorable kitty, by the way!)

      Hi!
      The first step will be mixing the logwood extract with warm water. The next step is making a lake pigment. Here’s a lake pigment tutorial: m.th-cam.com/video/PFUCaYJWoNM/w-d-xo.html
      After you have a dry lake pigment, you’ll be able to follow the instructions in this video to make watercolors.
