  • In this vlog, me and pops visit two separate country parks in the search for a photograph of kingfishers. We have a good natter along the way and capture a few surprises too.
    Hope you enjoy it 😁

Wonderful day out! Great images and I agree with Pops about the camera strap. I have one similar to the one that he is referring to and I love it. Thanks for sharing your trip with us!

Cheers Jon, glad you are enjoying some of my older videos. It’s made me look back at them, some of which I have not watched in a long time so appreciate it 👍🏻

Wow, powerful to say the least Dan. Never got the chance of a day out with my dad as he was tragically taken when I was only 16, I am now 64 and hearing you at the end of that vid talk about what a pleasure it was to of spent a day out with your dad for a chat and catch up, was to me so absolutely powerful. Even after all these years that brought a lump and a tear. Always wondered what it would of been like, but now I think I know. Only the second one of your vids I have seen, but not the last now after this. Hope you both have many more days together like that. Thank you both so much Dan , not only for giving us such an enjoyable vid, but also for me to see what such a day would of been like. Thank you Dan.

Thank you for your reply Dan, as some one quite new to this type of thing I was not expecting that, so thank you. lets just keep getting out there and make both your mum and my dad proud of what we can do with our chosen hobby/business. Merry Christmas to you, your dad and all.

Another very informative video Dan. I will have to check out Reddish Country Park. My son lives reasonably close by on the old Withington Hospital site so it’s doable for me. I’ve downloaded the Merlin Bird ID app. Which pack do you recommend to download?

Cheers Gary appreciate it. I have downloaded the Europe and Western Palearctic packs, although that last one throws up some random suggestions.

I like the idea of your Dad's strap. Do you know the model off hand? I have Rotator Cuff shoulder problems and this looks ideal but not sure which strap to order. TIA

He uses the black rapid strap. I’ve added a link below to Wex but I would suggest shopping around 👍🏻

Really enjoyed this video. A lot of stuff in it I can relate too . Were you playing the KF call to try and bring one in or was I hearing things? I’ve done that many times and it always works . Had one 4 yards away chirping back at me on the River Trent for best part of an hour . Was an amazing experience 😁

    • @danwillis_photography

Hi Steve, thanks for your kind feedback. We did not try to use the call to bring it in, I use that app so that I can identify calls. A great idea though and one I would definitely consider in the future. I can imagine your experience was amazing 👍🏻
