    We hunt elk with some guys from Tulsa. One time I told them that I pissed across the Arkansas River that morning. Just north of Leadville, the Arkansas River is only about 4 feet wide in the fall. In Tulsa, it's 5 blocks wide. If you want a thrill, try taking off in a Cessna 140 out of Leadville on a hot afternoon. The density altitude won't let it happen.

    It makes you wonder, millions of dollars of silver was mined but she died alone frozen to death. No heat and no friends after all that financial gain, how strange. I also thought it was interesting all the different fraternal and faith divisions in the cemeteries and the numerous graves in the cemeteries

    Another wonderful video, as always! I love how the Coloradians have strived to keep up and maintain all their old buildings. The town is worth visiting just for it's visual appeal. Then you add Colorado's natural beauty into the mix, and it doesn't get much better. Thanks for another great ride along!

    Spent a bit of time in Leadville metal detecting for relics. Including at the site of the Colorado National Guard encampment. Also in the area of Finn town and several other suburbs as it were of Leadville. Including where the brothels were at Douglass City. We recovered numerous items that help tell the story of the short lived burg. Life at two miles high must have been harsh t times. You did a good job of explaining and displaying the city for others who might never travel there.

    You said in your preview "we're taking a break from 50" Is this not near 50 anywhere or do you mean "take a break from 50" you meant just get off the road a few miles?

    • @TravelwithaWiseguy
      @TravelwithaWiseguy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct - Leadville is a couple hours north of US 50, so that’s what I meant by take a break. I would consider a few miles off 50 still “on 50” generally.

      One of my sons started loosing hair big time when in college. And he elected to go the route of what my buddies and I referred to as the Yule Brenner haircut. He was a prominent Hollywood actor when we were in high school. Occasional someone through necessity or rebellion would shave their head, and that was our way of explaining the new hair style. My son said that he was going to be either fully haired or unhaired, so it was unhaired. And there has been no change in his attitude for around twenty-five years now.
