I know this is 4 years old now, but it was really cool to watch. I was there in the late 90s when this building opened (corner of stewart & otis?). The furnishings were different, but it was the same stuff. I was a 1C6 and it was pretty cool back then. Thanks for the memories!
I just got assigned to Peterson Afb. What is there to do on base and nearby? And about how many people are assigned there? Also is the base diverse? Thanks in advance ☺️
Hey! Thanks for your question. If you have a car there are tons to do! Downtown Colorado Springs has a lot of restaurants and bars. If you like to hike there are so many trails like pikes peak, the incline, etc. Denver is also a hour away, so if like big cities its not far at all to explore and they have tons of concerts. Theres always events and festivals going on in Colorado Springs as well. As far as on base they have the club. Its a restaurant/bar. They also have bowling and an aquatics center. The gym also offers a variety of work out classes that are free or a small fee of $3-5. I have no idea how many people are assigned here but the base is so nice. Its pretty diverse for the most part but people don't really interact with each other on base and in the dorms unfortunately. I recommend volunteering to meet more people on base
I'm PCSing there from overseas in October. Do you know what the dorm capacity is like and if its fairly crowded? I'm hoping to move off base asap but for an A1C that's unlikely.
WAKE VASH the base is big but everything is close by. It’s very beautiful too. I’m not a fire fighter but you guys probably have shift work. Dorms are random based on availability. They don’t have everyone with the same job grouped together anymore.

It’s pretty crowded here but they have enough space. It’s very unlikely. It’s a waiting list to get out the dorms. So people with seniority go first
How big is the base? What are the shifts like for the fire department, are the shifts 24/ 24? Also how are dorms assigned?
