I've had that backpack for four years now and I didn't know about the belt hiding compartment!! Was wondering if it was worth repairing it, this convinced me to do so! Thank you :)
I own the Version 1 of the X30 and love it. It looks like they removed the hidden rainfly under the backpack in Version 2. The rainfly serves to offer another layer of security when walking through busy centers as well as protection against weather. My only complaint is that it does not stand well on its own and needs to be leaned against something. I wish I could buy another one today. 👍
You are indeed a large guy and that bag look small on you. I own the burnt orange model and I do love it. That said, I do prefer the hip belt were removeable like some hiking bag because if you wore it with it stowed, it still might ( depending on your preference ) irritate you, because it felt like there something between you and the back of the bag. Anyway I think this bag is out of production (hence you bought it on sale / clearance) . I love the fact that the side pocket loop went through a Nalgene 48 liter water bottle. Anyway, nice review.
This is nearly perfect, for me, except that it is just barely too large for a personal item. I may have paid the nearly $300 for one new if it would fit under the airliner seat infrom of me. Cheers!

does a 16 inch macbook fit the laptop compartment?
I spoke to pacsafe since I had same question (except mine is 17"). They said, yes you can fit 17" laptop so I am sure 16" will be fine too :)
I just bought one of these and i am using it with my macbook 16.
