  • I help Goose Gear owner, Brian Fulton install Goose Gear's Jeep JKU Side Cubbies for 2007-2018 4 Door Jeeps into our 5.11 Tactical Jeep JKU-Rubicon Project vehicle.
    This is as comprehensive as it gets.
    The Jeep Plate System side cubbies feature a Bullet Line covered Baltic Birch plywood with storage cubbies in front of both roll bar locations in the rear cargo area. The cubbies serve as a great way to square up the rear cargo area and create additional lockable storage compartments. They are designed to work with the Goose Gear JKU Plate.
    On 2007-2010 models the rear door does not have a hinge like found on the later models. The hinge cutout is precut into the cubbies and on early model 2007-2010 models you will see the vehicle body through the precut hole.
    The Goose Gear plate system for the Jeep JKU is a direct bolt in unit and requires no drilling into your vehicle. The Side Cubbies require the purchase and installation of the Jeep JKU Floor Plate.
    BY WATCHING THIS VIDEO YOU HOLD LARGE LA, OVERLAND GARAGE, RIGd SUPPLY, ABR INTERNATIONAL INC®, 5.11 TACTICAL®, GOOSE GEAR®, ANY AND ALL FEATURED SPONSORS, THEIR AFFILIATES AND ALL INVOLVED PARTIES HARMLESS IN THE EVENT OF YOU USING IT TO CONDUCT ANY WORK ON YOUR OWN VEHICLE. THIS IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY AND SHOULD NOT TAKE THE PLACE OF A TRAINED AND CERTIFIED INSTALLATION EXPERT AND GOOSE GEAR AUTHORIZED DEALER AND INSTALLER. IMPROPER INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE INJURY, HARM AND/OR DEATH TO YOURSELF AND OTHERS. IMPROPER INSTALLATION MAY VOID YOUR VEHICLE'S WARRANTY. WORK ON YOUR OWN VEHICLE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.

      Because it was a video install for someone who needed to learn how to install it. Full video is available on the channel. (I know this is a response 1 year later...lol)

    Before anyone complains of showing what it looks like afterward (you know who you are) pay attention to the first 5 seconds of the video!

    Nice, but i would make my own. Can add dividers, and such to make it more versatile

    IF you ever install a soft top you will have to cut reliefs in the back of the cubby system to install the rear clips, not a big deal but had to cut not only the plywood but the aluminum bracing under it as well, no room for the clips otherwise.

    Just curious, why not use an electric tool for all the removals?

    • @FixBreakRepeat
      @FixBreakRepeat  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personal preference - we were filming everything so hand tools are more dependable than running out of battery. Granted when dealing with stainless hardware you want to use hand tools vs. power tools to avoid potential galling/cold-welding.

    Once you install the cubbies, how difficult is it to remove the hardtop?

    • @FixBreakRepeat
      @FixBreakRepeat  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David Black there’s a nut you have to be careful not to lose when removing the bolts holding the hardtop down. But as long as you stay on top of that it’s pretty simple.

      Hey dude, it''s called a video install manual. Good thing you fast forwarded, that's called common sense. If you weren't looking for a video manual you shouldn't have clicked on a video manual video.

    Hello, would I be correct in assuming that the cubbies for a 2 door JK are pretty similar?
    Also to assume removing the hard top and putting on my soft top for the summer will be fine as long as I replace the one hard top bolt.
    Great video by the way.
    Thanks,

    • @FixBreakRepeat
      @FixBreakRepeat  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Louis Roy correct! And yeah, that one bolt will have to get replaced.

    Not explaining what the concept is? Goose gear what is it for? What does it do? What can you do?

  • @dpost82

    Do you have to purchase the base plate ? Or will the side cubbies be fine without it ?

    • @FixBreakRepeat
      @FixBreakRepeat  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ragnarok side cubbies can work independent of the base plate.

    This system will make removal of the hardtop difficult with the tie in of that bolt to the cubbie/hardtop.

    • @FixBreakRepeat
      @FixBreakRepeat  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest difficulty is a nut that has a really bad habit of wanting to run away from you on the bottom, due to the sandwich style layers of the hardtop/and cubbie there is that piece, but I'd imagine the team over at GooseGear have a better method than I did.

      xbpbat21x if it’s in the floor of the rear area they have a kit that accommodates for it. If not you get an extra storage compartment. Contact Goose-Gear for more info before you order!

      MoodyGaming might want to check with them but they are coated and all hardware is stainless I’d say they are as weather proof as the rest of your interior back there.
