the most unbelievable part of ready player one was how literally no one drive backwards like come on!!! gamers find literally game breaking shit on release theyd sure as hell try driving backwards
this but specifically in the way that i didn't understand why they did the scene like that until the 'nostalgia' explanation. like i read the book when it first came out (granted i was roughly about 14 or something but still) and i really liked the overall theme that this first challenge had. spoilers i guess but in the novel the challenge is set to be accessible to the extreme, which nicely ties in to the maker guy's whole narrative of 'anyone can become the winner'. it's set up on the first planet players go to, and albeit pretty well hidden, all you need to win is gaming skills. in contrast, the movie scene heavily focuses on its theme of nostalgia, which could be cool i guess, had it been executed better. like driving backwards? that's the solution? really? and the way the guy finds out is literally just by being completely obsessed with the maker. no skills needed whatsoever. i don't think that was wholly intentional but it sure is hilarious that they made a movie about a sorta okay book and completely butchered its message from beginning to end. (ofc as i said i was much younger when i read this so i barely remember the things in it, but i do still think that the idea of this first challenge was actually pretty cool. another thing i recall from the book was that there was a whole arc built around the guy dropping quite a few pounds in order to become 'good enough' for his love interest. that's a whole another discussion though but i do find it funny that this fictional dude and the author both agree that fat people are undesirable.. haha. although in my opinion it would have been just as good had he dropped his 'nice guy' narrative. that never happened though, unfortunately.)

I'm reminded of the history of game consoles in a lot of ways. A LOT of people who have game consoles now, had ZERO interest in them back when they were only capable of blocky graphics and boopy audio. In fact, it wasn't until the first PlayStation that a game console sold over 100 million units. A console, which was capable of 3D graphics and CD-quality audio. That's probably not a coincidence. I'd wager lot of the people who originally didn't give a damn about video games, only became interested once the PS1 was released, because it were capable of the sorta flashy experiences that they were used to getting from movies. I'd say the same will hold true for VR. It's still early days right now, and although current VR games are fun, like how retro games were fun, they're not "flashy" enough to hold the attention of mainstream audiences.
The way you chuckled as you said “ Ok so everybody go grab your vehicle and let’s fucking race like they do in the oasis bro” is so completely hilarious to me in the most genuine way, 10/10 delivery

"I killed your... whatchamacallit-girlfriend"
Just found your channel. You're filling the hole left by BDG and Unravelled finishing.
I just realized some of the music here is from A Short Hike, my respect for you has grown tenfold
Your videos are criminally under rated and under viewed hope you prosper and get the recognition you deserve.. Cheers
I've commented on a few of your videos before, but I'm gonna continue doing it so you can keep hearing how great your content is. Your videos are very, very unique and you do a great job at lampooning things. You've got a bit of an RLM and Ralph the Movie Maker vibe. Super irreverent, on the surface it seems stupid, but in reality your content is making some biting commentary. Keep it up, man!
The Spiritfarer music!!
The swat dog cyberbullying you is such a funny fucking character
The fact that this video doesn't have millions of views is enraging me.
laughed so hard at the sponsor segment here!!!
Bro your editing is fantastic! and literally kept me entertained haha thanks for the video
i think this might be your funniest video yet, and that's not an easy bar to clear.
VR does seem fun, wish i could afford it and enough space to use it.
The space part is really an issue people don't talk about. To really get the most out of VR, you need a room where you can have at least 6×6 feet of completely empty space. That can honestly be harder to come by than it sounds.
love the spiritfarer music!!
I had absolutely no idea that was an ad until like 5 seconds after the url popped up 😭😭😭😭

I was really enjoying the video and the rant until you said Spy Kids 3D is a shitty film. It is not true. Spy Kids 3D is a Masterpiece!
Best commercial of all time
The tiger joke on the beach was fantastic
The rescuer not having a name destroyed me, I love this so much
holy shit I've never been more pumped to see a video on my recommended, i already know this is gonna be fire
army dog bit is genuinely one of the funniest things ive ever seen
That ribbit assault is a genuine nightmare experience. VR was a mistake
The ending was truly insightful... lmao
Why am I so in love with this ad break?!
the ad was insane wtf, they better be paying you a lot i actually enjoyed watching it
