I just wanted to take a second to say how much I appreciate videos like this! I don't have a ton of spare time and the time I do have I like to use for reading so the reasonings you listed at the beginning of the video are literally the ones I had to click on this video. I wish I could watch all the videos from the booktubers I follow but I usually only click on videos like this or wrap ups, so I'm really grateful to you for making videos like this
Godkiller was fantastic and I would never have picked it up if not for this channel so much thanks on that score. As for Fourth Wing, I couldn't finish it. I didn't like the writing or the main character. But I do kind of understand its popularity because it is fantasy-lite popcorn reading and seriously, props to the publisher for getting it into the hands of the right people on social media early on to evangelize it.
I just finished “The Book that Wouldn’t Burn” by Mark Lawrence a few days ago and I cannot stop thinking about it. 5 star read for me. Very surreal world with great characters. Expertly plotted to where when you finished the book you wanted to reread it all over again to see how he planted the seeds. Themes of the book included intelligence vs education/opportunity, xenophobia, cyclical violence, confirmation bias, and manipulation of knowledge into propaganda. Very much looking forward to the rest of the series. I think Lawrence is known for grimdark fantasy but this wasn’t grimdark at all.
Finished that a couple weeks ago and absolutely fell in love with the world and the characters! It's my favorite book of the year so far and just in general now.
The Fourth Wing hype is for real. My student (in college) saw my copy in my laboratory window ledge and said she couldn't get hold of a copy and so I let her borrow it. I was enjoying it, too. Thank you.
Two recent releases, I've read and loved this month would be The Will of the Many by James Islington and Painted Devils by Margaret Owen. I picked up Will of the Many because I saw a lot of Red Rising comparisons and I would agree with those but the main character also reminded me a bit of Lee from Fireborne by Rosaria Munda. Painted Devils I was a little nervous about since I knew Little Thieves had originally been sold as a standalone and now it's going to be a trilogy but I just had such a fun time.
What's weird about Fourth Wing is that I've only heard bad things about it from channels I follow and people I know. I wonder how many of those overwhelmingly positive reviews are real.
There are plenty of people in Facebook book groups raving about it. I don't think the hype is fake at all. I loved it! It's the acotar girlies that are devouring it.
My current ride or die new release is The Will of the Many by James Islington. It has some really interesting themes that it's exploring and has a wonderful magic school setting that is executed really well.
These new release videos have been so helpful for me as I’m getting back into them after a couple years of rereads and backlog! Do you have any intent to pick up The Surviving Sky by Kritika Rao? I’m loving the lush worldbuilding and complex characters so far
I have a genuine question, what does “purple writing” mean? I really want to read this book and I want to understand the writing style before going into it. Thanks for sharing 🤍
Just got a signed copy of godkiller today. Looking forward to reading it. The lady in the bookshop informed me she is a local (Northumberland ,UK) which I didn’t know. So I can’t wait to read it. It’s also a beautiful hardback with great artwork. The author informed the book store lady that the same artist will be working on book two.
"Blood Over Bright Haven" by M. L. Wang was my favorite 2023 release. So underated, so please give it a try. It is a standalone Dark Academia for fans of Fullmetal Alchemist. ❤
I really liked the Forth Wing book, it was overall a good book whereas some of the other books were a slow to capture my attention like Emily Wildes’ Encyclopedia of Fairies (just didn’t like the main character personality) or the Bone Shard Series. Thanks for more recommendations!
Books I would like to buy soon is the magicians daughter , godkiller, Crane husband and seven faceless saints. I own the Tress book and the last tale of the flower bride I’m hoping to read soon. I have so many books on my tbr I want to this summer and many for fall 😳. Love this video 📚💕☕️
I'm seeing SO much hype around Fourth Wing and as many people pointed out, a lot of my favourite BookTubers didn't like it much? Whereas a debut book I just read, The Surviving Sky by Kritika Rao, is not getting much visibility on BookTube despite a lovely premise of a post apocalyptic alternate earth with flying cities and a plant based magic system, the crowning jewel is that the protagonists are married adults in their 30s

I’m going to have to request some of these books from inter library loans! Especially when I’m out of my reading slump. 🥹 but no seriously I’ve gone from about twenty five books a month or more to like maybe six, recently. (Boo)

Reading this now and was also going to recommend it! It's been a pleasant surprise!
I really want to buy this book. Thanks for mentioning it. I’m glad to see a positive review 📚☕️😊
I haven’t read Forth Wing yet but it seems like a lot of people are looking for this type of story based how in love with it so many people are.
I loved Emily Wildes Encyclopaedia of fairies too! Including the romance
The Fourth Wing hype is for real. My student (in college) saw my copy in my laboratory window ledge and said she couldn't get hold of a copy and so I let her borrow it. I was enjoying it, too. Thank you.
I couldn’t even finish the audiobook... so disappointed 😢
I’m almost done what would you recommend for my next read 🤔
I loved Unseelie. It might be my favorite book of the year so far

i like how the colors of the superlatives match the book covers 😌

I'm following two BookTubers that absolutely LOVED Fourth Wing. And also some of my friends really enjoyed it.
I've gotten both positive and negative reviews from people I follow. The ones who do like it, review it as "wow this is garbage, I love it."
There are plenty of people in Facebook book groups raving about it. I don't think the hype is fake at all. I loved it! It's the acotar girlies that are devouring it.
Hated ACOTAR loved Fourth Wing it was enjoyable garbage
The book tubers I followed loved the fourth wing and so did I 💕

I'm interested in that book so this is exciting to hear!
I have a genuine question, what does “purple writing” mean? I really want to read this book and I want to understand the writing style before going into it.
Thanks for sharing 🤍
Purple writing tends to mean more of a lyrical or poetic style. Usually lush descriptions and liberal use of metaphors
@@whisper_dvm5157 I've only heard purple prose used to describe writing that overdoes those things. I'm pretty sure it's a disparaging term.
I need them all 😮🎉 thx so much for the Video ❤ i am absolutely lost at keeping up with the new releases

Godkiller sounds amazing. I think I’m going to read this book in July.
Your videos are always super enjoyable. ❤ Also, love your hairstyle.
Reading Encyclopedia of Faeries and I love it! Can't wait to try the others, I love your videos❤
I loved this little round up & the highlight section at the end! I really want to pick up Godkiller!

All of these new fantasy books pale in comparison to the fascinating piece of art, that is "AeonHeart."
