  • Since it’s release in 1999 the Suzuki Hayabusa engine has been one of the most popular in motorcycle drag racing / drag bike racing. In this video we give you an inside look at a NHRA HAYABUSA dragster as it takes on a Suzuki GSRX 1000 dragster in the Jr. Comp class at the NHRA Lucas Oil Winternationals from Pomona, California. We will ask these young men what’s it’s like to pilot these wild crazy machines. When they blast down the race track it sounds just like a motorcycle drag race. We get a close look at the engine components and noticed some parts from Dan Rudd’s MPS Motorcycle Performance Specialties. Enjoy and share with a HAYABUSA or GSXR fan!

      @billnewman3243 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cost varies, depending on the build, extra. Used cars can be had from about 7500 on up 10-12k usually buys a pretty good used car. Some of the Expensive builds hit 30k new. But a well thought out build, new should be in the 22-25 k range. There is a lack of builders and many of those who jumped in to this....either tried to build a big Jr Dragster or a Small Comp dragster, not really looking at the car for what it is and building a Jr Comp.

    Honda Goldwing engine.
    Why?
    1.) Flat 6 that - in a motorcycle is a pita because it is all sorts of in the way of any sort of forward pegs, but for a dragster - displacement - displacement - displacement, Jack there IS NO REPLACEMENT!
    2.) Flat "boxer style" orientation keeps the center of gravity VERY low.
    3.) Plenty of room for a supercharger on top.
    4.) I think you could pretty easilly crack 200mph without breaking the bank - even if you used an older flat 4 GW engine w/ "only" 1,100 or 1,200cc (stock stroke and crank) as a starting point.
    5.) I mentioned it, but it is a big paet of fhe equasion - there are LOTS of older 'wings out there with those Kahein CV carbs that - well the bike is junk unless you want to fart around tryimg to hide the fact that they suck, and nothing will ever change that fact. So, you can buy them cheap and easilly dump the garbage carbs.
    6.) Those engines didn't belong in a motorcycle anyhow. Once it's in a dragster - it's EASY to build a proper induction system. Blower-Procharger-Tubskis-NA/NO2 . . . lots of potential and lots of potential directions a team of racers could go in.

    To save you time, action begins at 7:55 ends at 8:30. If those kids are serious about making speed, they can easily cut a half second by mounting realistically sized slicks. Eight-inch Bruce's slicks from the 1950s would have way too much traction for a two hundred horsepower engine, much less the modern rubber seen here.
