I was born and raised in Portland, inner N.E. Spent 35 years there as a PPB cop. Thank God I left 3 years ago. Saw this shitshow coming and its not gonna get better anytime soon. I enjoyed recognizing nearly every area you walked thru. The town will accelerate its demise now that all drugs for personal use are legal and the cops are too humiliated to enforce the laws that are still on the books. Recipe for disaster. Used to be a beautiful city till about mid to late 90s.
I live in Michigan right now and I would like to move to Portland when I'm older. Maybe it's dumb to move to the northwest when every one else is, but the weather and environment seem perfect there. I hate the heat and the cold. The weather seems moderate, and it's so green.
About 2.5 years since I moved out here from metro Detroit and it was an amazing decision. It's almost everything I love about Michigan just without all the negatives, haha. Blend the UP with a mix of Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor, and put it a few miles from the Ocean and that's what it's like out here. Cliche for a reason, haha, I'd highly recommend it!
@@joshfenn yeah, when i hear people warning about it being overcast and raining all the time, in Michigan it's overcast all winter as well, and I would take rain over snow any day, and at least all the trees aren't dead out there. I grew up in Ann Arbor, and while it's a nice place, I can't stand it anymore. I moved to Ypsi a few years ago, and I'm going to EMU right now. Moving across country seems difficult, but I will regret never taking the chance, and while I love Michigan, It would be pretty depressing to never leave. Thanks for the reply
Bingo Simon.. its dumb to come to Portland even more because everyone else wants to go.. every yuppie in the world seems to wanna relocate to the area now. They're coming from MA, Vermont, NY, CA, DC.
I really appreciate the work you do with this channel. I know this is more of an update video and less of an inspiration/tip video, but none the less. It's real tips coming from a real person that's not hiding behind a pay wall or money scheme, and I really appreciate that. I'm struggling through having enough willpower to maintain my workout regimene but your videos help. Thanks for the great content!
Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me this! I really do appreciate the support everyone gives around here, I love being here for everyone and creating. Making these videos and having this community helps keep me on track and in check too, I'm happy to share and help. :)
ahhhhh.... travel! yeah man... we had kids fairly early... we still get around as much as possible... we're from Texas so... we've been to the surrounding states and Arizona a few times... enjoyed the walk! we definitely have more travel plans in the future! I owe my wife a New York trip so... maybe next year... we got colorado planned this summer! congrats on dropping some weight... I'm still on the grind clocked in at 223... be good! till next time BFL!
New York is awesome! Had a couple of quick trips there over the years, I'd love to go back for a proper vacation. Colorado seems amazing, that's on my list as well. Hoping I can make it out there soon. Keep up the grinding, you'll be nearing 200 before you know it!
Thanks so much for the support! Any insight I might have I just credit to a few influential role models/teachers I've followed over the years. I'm lucky enough to have come into adulthood with the internet and so much info at my fingertips. Always trying to better myself and improve, maximizing life as much as I can. :)
And people are moving here thinking it's cheap LOL. Well it's not going to be that way in a few years. Real estate people from San Francisco have told me that it's shaping up to be more expensive
Definitely on the rise for sure! My wife and I not having cars definitely helps offset some of the higher rent price, but I'm sure it's going to keep increasing as Portland gets more and more popular for work with all of these businesses.
@@joshfenn , yes I was very happy to leave... I would never recommend anybody going to Portland but surrounding cities cool Portland is for scumbags just my thought
very jealous about the weather June is doing a very convincing impression of November in London grey *COLD* very windy...hmmmm I didn't realise you were so far west wow (my geography is terrible - I keep meaning to learn where the counties in England actually are - counties are like your states - I'm 60 in January) you must buy that camera for your trip and film the desert with it! (joke) xx
I'm so used to that dreary gray weather from the winter out here, It's crazy how nice this stretch has been! Gonna soak it up as much as I can. I'm really bad with geography too, haha. I feel like I had a better grasp of it in grade school even compared to now. Wish I could get that camera setup! Definitely on the list for someday, but it'll probably be quite a while. Still gonna make a good video though, keep an eye out!
If you make it to Vegas please let me know. There are some great areas to get footage of the strip from the desert. Take care
That would be awesome, hoping to get out there sometime!

Christopher Holmquist From my set of eyes, that time has come and gone.
Good luck with living in bend LOL
I was just visiting actually, pretty quiet out there to live from my experience haha.
Was in Portland just a couple of months ago that is one of the nastiest places I've ever seen
Glad to hear you didn't have to stick around then!
