  • Helping you falling asleep with a bedtime story : The Fall of the House Usher Part 1 by Edgar Allan Poe.
So... I wasn't supposed to read yet again a Poe novel. I wanted to record The Outsider by Lovecraft but god is it a difficult out loud read for a non native English speaker...
So I had to switch for an easier read and because I've watched the Netflix show Fall of the house of Usher not so long ago, I thought... why not try this one out!
Hope you'll enjoy my delivery here. Part 2 will be coming soon!

Thank you so much! After trying to read The Outsider and failing to deliver something worth listening too, I felt so self-conscious. So seeing that this video is enjoyed is a huge relief!

      @@WhisperingShadowsASMR you’re very welcome!!! I can’t wait for part 2!!!
Also, I still would’ve listened to you reading The Outsider!!!! Maybe you’re an archeologist struggling to translate the text from an older form of English some thousands of years into the future?
Idk, I just wanna help you achieve everything you deserve!

This was very enjoyable, well done. It is nice to go back and listen to the original.
Reading that you wanted to make episodes like this made me think Lovecraft was a strong possibility. So I listened to some that I couldn't remember the details of. I had forgotten just how generous he would get with archaic terms and language. Even by the standards of his time. Poe seems contemporary by comparison. I woud be intimidated by reading that out loud. So please don't be discouraged.
The only thing I can think of is looking at the Lovecraftian stories of writers that were friends with him. The Lovecraftian Circle, I believe they were called. I remember Robert Bloch wrote a number of stories. And Robert E. Howard, the writer of Conan. Maybe their stories will be easier.🤷‍♂️
I also remember there have been books that contemporary writers were commissioned to write Lovecraft stories. Cthulu 2000 was one, published around that year. And a duo titled: Cthulu Lives in 2014(?).
Wonderful video, and have a great day!😁👍

Thank you for your comment Chris! I do enjoy Lovecraft atmosphere and lore, but it is difficult to read. But if I keep reading out loud in English for some time, maybe I'll be able to read some Lovecraft at some point :)
I'll have to take a look at the other writers. I knew about them, but I guess I really wanted to try out the source material.
There are a tone (I may be exaggerating here...) of cross over stories and "fanfiction" novels with Lovecraft's lore. I read one with Sherlock Holmes. The idea was good, Holmes investigating strange happenings in London linked to some cult, but I didn't really manage to get into the story itself.
