Two years ago I met Pierre Gasly (last race at RB before being demoted to AT) in budapest. He and Max were staying at the four seasons hotel iirc. The mercedes drivers were staying at the Ritz-Carlton and George Russell was staying at the Intercontinental. Good luck! :)

In Bahrain, in 2019 GP, we were able to see all the drivers for a limited time since there was an autograph sign event for all fans. We saw everyone but each driver and team had limited time allotted especially Lewis and Seb! We were able to get photos and autographs with many of them (including Kimi). Plus there is always a chance to see them in pit walk, we saw lance in the car!

Years ago I saw Jenson running around the Imperial palace in Tokyo and his then girlfriend running from the subway to the Honda showroom in Aoyama where Jenson was already inside doing an event.
I have been enjoying your channel since I found it last year and enjoyed your inside view. Just finished watching this episode and just thought I would mention another way. Join a car club that has a car racing in the series. I am an Alfisti and the Alfa Romeo Owners Club -USA has organized annual trips to Austin for the GP. As a member of the group, we have access to the paddock on the open days and several receptions where one gets to meet the VIPs and the drivers. We also have had access to special hospitality areas which are exclusive to the Alfa group.
During F1 live- London- the drivers and bosses were all stationed at the Corinitha Hotel. The road of the hotel was closed for all the public unless you had F1 credentials or a meeting at the department for International Trade (same street) I took the logo for DOIT and emailed myself a fake appointment. Got into the ‘pit lane’ left my bag at reception of the hotel, met lots of drivers & Ross Brawn. I then walked into the main area with Ross, Johnny Herbert etc. Managed to last about 4 mins before I got kicked out of there. Great experience!

Austin is the best environment for this - small town, not many places to go. Ran into Romain Grosjean at a BBQ joint next to the downtown Hilton, David Coulthard at a Sushi Restaurant, and Nico Rosberg at the airport all during one weekend.
Austria is the best place in Non-Covid times In 2017 I got autographs of all 20 drivers. There were autograph sessions in the fan zone and on the green carpet. If you're early and quick enough you can get the front row at both of them and get all drivers
Great suggestions. My favorite way to meet F1 drivers is when they're at IndyCar races, here in the states. Note everyone comes over, but there have been quite a few. Looking forward to getting Romain Grosjean's autograph this year.
Hey Kym, love your videos. Just one thing though, booking flights that way is actually risky. Many airlines are now cracking down on hidden city ticketing and banning customers from flying with them in the future. Just thought I'd share :)
As an American, it’s so weird for me to think how hard it is to meet F1 drivers. I’ve met countless NASCAR & IndyCar drivers at meet and greets and in the garage/paddock areas. Paddock access at the Mid-Ohio IndyCar race was free (as Honda had a promo going on for Honda owners) and I met Romain Grosjean & Marcus Ericsson, in addition to Simon Pagenaud, Graham Rahal, Takuma Sato, Jimmie Johnson, Conor Daly, and others. Indianapolis is actually quite the easiest track to meet a driver - just walk under the track and to the media center or garage, access to open to all with a grandstand ticket!
@@KymIllman Indeed they are! Daytona is very easy to gain access as well as a fan, they sell access tickets for around $70. I hope you get the chance to experience NASCAR or IndyCar as a fan!

Honestly, its okay to leave them alone. You go out and enjoy, tons of people have their autographs etc. It doesn't change anything if you only interact with them for a sec or two. You can try your luck but putting crazy effort into it is really not worth it.
I passed on meeting Carlos sainz at goodwood back a few years ago, I just didn't have any McLaren gear apart from a McLaren Honda shirt. I'm keen on actually meeting and talking to a driver but yeah I imagine it is not easy

there's a risk with hidden city ticketing though, you could get sued by the airline or lose your frequent flyer status if you do it too often since it's against their rules of carriage. How have your attempts fared?

Check out CC F1's video on the drivers Cassidy the channel owner has met, mind you she she mentions she works in F1 and it was pre covid. But she has an Instagram, if you feel brave enough you can message her and ask her for locally specific advice or information
Forget about meeting drivers for a second... how can we meet you?! Are coming to Saudi Arabia? For Saudi Arabian track, I think it will be extremly hard to meet drivers at gates, because police will be all over the place organizing crowds. Plus I see not room for green carpet or so. The track is taking place at the waterfront where it is always packed even with no events (except 12-2 noon due to heat). Dirvers will only use cars to get in and out of track. due to heat and infrastructure of the Jeddah. Not to forget that we have paddock club that costs $7K with Covid restrictions. Lastly, drivers will get vip company from the moment the enter the airport till they leave, and they will be using vip lounges/ routes to be separated from people (like any other event we had). I hope I am wrong and meet some drivers and cool people. If anyone here can help me get a invitation, I would be thankful.
@@KymIllman I really hope that you enjoy the visit. Also, do not use the airport taxi or any taxi in general due to price. Use Uber or Careem apps. If you can drive under some pressure, rent a car (not from the airport unless it is a really good deal). Or maybe I can pick you up if you would like to.
Inner track pass more likely to see current drivers as they enter. Paddock club (in my experience (2018)) saw non-current drivers (Nico Rosberg, Mark Webber etc.) wandering in-between TV duties.

If you can drive under some pressure, rent a car (not from the airport unless it is a really good deal). Or maybe I can pick you up if you would like to.
what would you say is the best way to meet a driver at Silverstone? the inner track pass or paddock club?
Inner track pass more likely to see current drivers as they enter. Paddock club (in my experience (2018)) saw non-current drivers (Nico Rosberg, Mark Webber etc.) wandering in-between TV duties.

Do F1 drivers have a history of romancing women at all these races? Is/was it a "different gal in every city" type situation or is that behavior discouraged by the teams? Some of the guys are family men but most are young and single, so there are probably ladies looking to meet them up close & real personal. Tell us the dirt, Kym!
