Yes they do wash their hands as you said oh, they also wash their food off before they eat it. I had one as a pet when I was young, my dad found it when it was young it had been hit by a car and was on the side of the road so good old dad thought it would be a great pet for my sister and I. LOL! Brought it home nursed it back to get over its injuries, but when it was over its injuries, the raccoon didn't want to go anywhere ended up living with us for years, he got along with our dogs and our cats. I know this is a long message but just brought back so many great memories

We had 3 raccoons as kids, my dad was a woodworker and when they cut down one tree they saw a family of raccoons who had been left by parents (and no the tree didn't hit the coons). But dad brought them home and they got along with our dog so well they all slept in the house. One especially with my sister who was 4 at the time. Chucky was his name. He protected her with his life.

Thanks for this video! I love both cats and raccoons. I have 4 inside cats and feed about 12 local raccoons each night behind my house (I live next to 25 acres of woods). The raccoons have individual personalities just like all other animals. Some are shy, some very friendly. I've never had any trouble with any of them - they are wonderful animals.

When my old cat would go out, one time it got bit in the tail by a raccoon. We had to pay 500$ for a surgery because of an infection.

That happened to my cat, too, and he almost lost half his tail. He responded to antibiotics and didn't need surgery, but the vet bill was over $100. Raccoons carry all kinds of disease. They reach their sexual maturity around two and their behavior becomes quite unpredictable and aggressive.

Some ,maybe. I've had coons for years and I have cats. They get along great! Mine are vet clinic seen every 6 months and have clean bill of health. Even my cats seem happier with them around because they keep them super busy. Raccoons are very hyper creatures but can be trained. Mine use a litter box and I've seen other learn to use toilets and even flush because as you no they have thumbs.

My cats go out with the raccoon that comes to our backyard. I thought they got along bkuz they did when on their own ( one cat with one raccoon), but then when it's my two (teenaged) cats together, they totally chase the raccoon and pick on it. They're such hooligans 😒

I raised a baby raccoon and had her for years. She was one of the most awesome pets ever. I have had had cats and have a cat now. It’s good the raccoons always hold back when playing with the cats cause they (the raccoons)would mess them up.

there not washing there food. I had one as a pet back in the '80s. They must be around water constantly cause they don't have saliva glands. They can smell water from over a mile away... cool pets but they will tear your house to pieces if left alone, they will calm down some when they get a couple of years older but they leave no stone unturned...Now that's a Fact!!! Na... They do have saliva glands ;-) but there very destructive!! Funniest creatures I've ever seen.
