Great video. Sounds like you preferred the Andaz over the El Mangroove but not by much. What's the difference between the two hotels? For us it looks like the El Mangroove is a more affordable choice. Keep up the good work.
They are both really amazing and have great locations right on the bay in Papagayo. Andaz is located inside the gated community where the Four Seasons is located as well so it has a slightly more "secluded" feel. El Mangroove is quite a bit smaller than Andaz as well . You can't really go wrong, honestly. Both offer a number of activities, have great food and the rooms are super unique. I think we preferred Andaz because the service was exceptional (the staff are trained by the FS apparently). Let us know what you decide!
Hey Amanda! Thanks for your comment! We did use the wifi and I can’t remember the exact speeds but they were definitely sufficient enough at the time to work. I would recommend calling the hotel or emailing them and asking them for a speed test or what their general wifi situation is as we were there a while ago. They’ll be able to provide exactly what the speed is to make sure you have enough :) let us know if you have any other questions!
what was the actual beach like? Sunny during the day? Calm enough for swimming? Or would it be better at one of the hotels on the other side of the bay?
Hey Catherine! Thanks for your comment. The beach is nice, water is very calm. I wouldn’t say the beach is the nicest in the world but it’s warm and pleasant. There are some sand fleas which is not ideal but if you’re swimming in the water it’s totally fine. The beaches on the other side of the bay will be the same. The papagayo area is beautiful, lush and the waters are calm. We recommend a boat tour if you have time because it’s gorgeous to see the coastline from the water :)
Thanks so much for saying that! The tour we did was through the hotel. They offer a number of tours through the activities center right by the beach down there. There are also some people on the beach that offer activities and boat tours as well that seemed to be a bit cheaper and we asked around and people loved their trips so you can always ask the guys on the beach :)

Great video, very helpful! Did you guys use the hotel WiFi at all and if so was it fast? I’m thinking of working remote there for a week.

Haha!! Honestly, we didn't find it that overwhelmingly bad. I would recommend bug spray for sure, especially at sunset time but it wasn't too bad :)
