- A common question I get asked all the time, "What's the range???" Well, here's the answer and then some 😜 anyway, this will start a new series of "educational" facts about the bassoon

bro literally did every bassoon players dream
I WANT TO DO THAT DO BAD
This should be titled how to turn your bassoon into a contrabassoon. 😂
Poor man's contrabassoon 🤣
Well, contrabassoon for the slightly less wealthy sounds more like it, as bassoons are still already pretty expensive.
My trumpet player brain the first time I saw someone use one of these: "I didn't know there were mutes for bassoon." 🤦♂️
I loved playing Bassoon back in school. Such a beautiful and goofy instrument.
Goofy is the right word. I'd love to own one, but since I'm no longer in school I can't figure out how I'd ever use it, and apparently these fuckers cost like $30k. And I thought flutes were expensive.
Don't forget about the ultra high g (g5) ;) first finger left hand, thumb on the high a-key, with your teeth on the reed hahaha
Anything above F5 I consider an “extended technique” 😂
I can hear the squeal.😂
a vacuum lost its trunk so Dan could show us _"how low can Basoons go"_ 😅
This is too great 😆
That last one was really inbetween C1 and C# 1 closer to C#
i randomly found out this instrument existed and it’s pretty cool
Haha… very impressive indeed! 👍🤣😎
I love how in these videos authors voice's like 🔈 and the instrument's like 📢📢📢 (very loud)
I always wanted to play dubstep on one of these
#yayscience 🤘🏾👍🏾
I dont see enough people knowing about bassoon these days keep it up bro ❤
As a bassoonist i agree
Playing bassoon this year! 7th grader now I played clarinet last year
You can also do subphonics which allows a little bit of range lower. It’s not dexterous or anything, so it’s not scored for much. But I can get down to an F below the Bb.
Hey! Ima fellow bassoonist and i and just am in 6th grade going to 7th and I haven’t even been to the top of my range yet I’ve always thought the highest note was the high F natural but I was wrong. The other day I got bored and learned the Bb1 and I was BLOWN AWAY by how low that was. I think it’s crazy how I sing as a soprano and i play a bass clef instrument.💀
Darn, I was expecting the Rite of Spring solo.
Do it with a subcontrabasson
you could also do subharmonic fingerings
The title should be how to become a contrabassoon for free
I learned a multiphonic once that can play low a, you can finger low f and then you lift your third finger on one of the hands, I can't remember which one but I know it's just one of them.
W 1 2 | 1 2 3 F
@@n0th1ng_72 I tried it yesterday, you are correct! I couldn't remember it exactly lol
😂 that low note sounds like an elephant who has had too much fiber
richard bobo with his subcontrabassoon: "pathetic"
Whoa. This is actually the lowest of standard notes on my bass trombone which is a1. While tenor and f attachment trombones can play down to e2 or c2 (if using a trigger on b/f trombones) 😂😂😂😅😅
me, a CC and BB tuba player: what if i extend it?
The last one caught me off guard. A new contemporary composition idea?
What’s the piece in the background?
I was surprised you were able to play C1 with the help of a vacuum tube. 🤣🤣🤣
Meanwhile, Richard Bobo:
At least you are a genius. I can sure. 😊🎉
Bro made a contra contra contra bass bassoon 😂
Bro did a b0
IM DOIN IT BOYS
Wait wait there's and e5?!
I have a chart that goes up to c# above the rite of spring c, not to bad to play too
Lucky ass woodwind players who are granted instruments with high ranges while brass players have to bust they mouths for a range 2/3 their size
Richard Bobo is coming for you
What is the fingering for low A?
Could you extend the tube more to make it even lower?
Hit the brown noise
If a Bassoon exists, why can't there be a tromboon and a brassoon or a piccolo bassoon?
Anyone else annoyed at the instrument books that claim the highest note is B♭4 (2nd leger line in tenor clef)? I mean, if you can play that B♭, then B♮ and C are pretty easy.
After that it gets a little harder, depending on reed and how many thumb keys you don't have.
It's sad that computers and synthesizers are replacing acoustic instruments. No orchestra needed for movies, shows and video games anymore.
The range is yes
If you have the money just buy a contrabasson
Do you sell reeds
is altissimo a thing on bassoon?
Yes! It requires some weird ass fingerings though.
i’m a beginner on bassoon any tips anyone?
Same!! I started like a few weeks ago
Learn how to make your own reeds.
My first bassoon trial lesson will be on the 12th of may.
Audio is quiet on this video
