The purpose of swedging keys here is to get a tight fit with the key and rod and still have them move smoothly, but not to lock them together like the process of using swagelok style connectors. If you crimp the key and the rod (like when swaging pipe fittings) they will seize and the key will no longer function properly. Thanks for your question!
