Thank you and Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain is best book on the subject I have found by far. I try and re-read many sections the start of each season as a little refresher
Hey I am 5' 9" and the BlackCrows are 173cm and have perfect for my needs. Thinking about length I want something short enough to be able to maneuver in tighter couloirs yet long enough to be stable at speed and float in softer snow. I will say this is for my single quiver Navis Freebird but when looking at other skis may lean slightly longer/shorter depending on the rocker amount and use case, however, after skiing many length skis prefer that 172-174 range for an any condition ski.
@Johnwis-gp9yy For my size I find 173 is sweet spot for this ski. I would only would go shorter if 100% using in very steep tight places but for this use case would like go skinner ski like Camox Freebird anyway. Best of luck with your search and happy turns !
@@jakekaiser1399 I have Draco freebird at 175cm (Cast pIvots) for deep stuff and Dps tour Cassiar 95 at 179 cm (atk evo) for big climbs and thinking of getting something shorter but I do not want to go much lighter than my dps setup. I tried super light touring and do not like the downhill aspect to it, so Navis at 167cm might do the trick.
@Johnwis-gp9yy I feel everyone has pushed things too light at one point and then reverted back to a heavier and more performant setup. Best of luck with the decision and found Navis skis well for the weight in variable conditions
Solid and thorough video. I recently read the avalanche book you showed and can recommend it.

Nice Video!
Thanks for watching!
Hi Jake, how tall are you and what ski length are you riding?

@ thanks for the reply… i am about the same size and was thinking for such a directional ski to not go too short…
