KUHN Vari-Master L Smart Plough w/ Section Control | FENDT 933 vario | Perfect ins and outs

- I saw this interesting new KUHN Vari-Master L Smart Plough at work at Willemsens arable farms in Biddinghuizen in the Netherlands. It is still a 0 series model of only two of which are tested this year.
Raising and lowering each plough body individually eliminates the V or Z -shaped patterns at the headland - left when the plough is lowered and raised coming in and out of work each time. This makes it difficult to plough the headland “neatly”. This not only reduces the number of times the tractor passes over the headland, thereby reducing soil compaction, but also ensures all surface trash at the furrow/headland interface is buried effectively.
The control of each individual body is based on GPS positioning data.
Hopefully next year I can make a more comprehensive video ;)

Absolutely the most beautiful innecessity I've ever seen!! 😍 I can't imagine a single person investing in the answer to a question which has never really been that much of a problem, in such a way that tempts so much more downtime and maintenance over such small gains, but as an idea it is a stunning execution of concept
As for maintenance nothing changes, mechanically it's normal Vari-Master plow with hydraulic anti stone protection, so same amount of moving parts, greasing points, etc. But im sure additional electrically controlled hydraulic valves block and computer for that, rises cost of it about 10K Euro or more. But it looks great, and provides smooth ride finishing headlands.
It’s saves you one more pass on the headlands. Maintenance in Dutch soil? There’s no rocks here, I’ve seen a couple of these plows in use already over here this machine looks like a easy investment for medium sized arable farms in the Netherlands!

Geweldige techniek, maar op de vraag: return on investment?, brengt dit de boer geen cent meer in het laadje… Kuhn houdt zich wel leuk bezig!
Interesting idea but I'm wondering if the added mechanical complexity (and cost?) is worth the improvement in the resultant edge. Looks like the distance each blade raises/lowers could be increases to ensure they are all out of the soil until individually dropped.

How can one overengineer a plow? LOL
Granted, I am not too familiar with the intricacies and fine details of plowing, but are the zig-zagged headlands really that big of a problem? Big enough to engineer an entirely new plow just to combat it, with lots of moving parts, therefore lots of potential points of failure? Especially when the job in the end is JUST to turn dirt?
To be fair it's not THAT much more complicated than a normal plow. Plows that move like that when you hit big rocks are standard in areas with lots of stones. I'm guessing this is more or less some hydraulic cylinders on that kind of plow.
Also, to even out before the headlands could be a real time saver when it comes to plowing them later. 😀

Schöner Film. Ich frage mich nur ab diesen Sachen:
-Warum läsdt der Fahrer nicht mehr Platz fürs Vorgewende? Dann würde nähmlich einmal Rückwärtsfahren reichen.
-Warum wird nicht mehr Luft us den Reifen sbgelassen? Die Reifen walken kaum selbst bei angehobenem Pflug... Bodenschonung!
-Warum hat man in der heutigen Zeit ein fremdes GPS? Das Varioguide ist top!
-Warum hat man beim Fendt ein externes Isobusterminal? Hallo, es ist ein Fendt mit Allem integriert!

It sounds like a spool is constant pumping all the time?
It's a hydraulic reset plow. No springs, just constant hydraulic pressure. Which is why it's so easy for them to do this. Just lift up instead of press down.
Had this idea many years ago, but mainly for ploughing down hill as a 6 or 7 and up hill as a 4 or 5/6,,, they have used my idea without even asking if it OK with me
I used a plough you could push over as you describe 45yrs ago. It was too heavy for the tractors of the time. When tractors got bigger they had more power and wider tyres so you didn’t need them.
All that horsepower… that small plough….
I always wonder about the gigantic fields... srsly how long does it take (approx.) to plow that?

1-2ha/h, some big fields can take a couple of days.

@@rienl.2373 Too low? I think my estimation is A-okay for a 6 furrow plough. But it's different depending on soil structure, field layout with or without headland, speed etc etc. And how long a workday is depends on where it's suitable to end for the day.

55hp per furrow. 😂😂😂😂. Twice the best power / furrow ratio considering Capex, Opex and work yield.
Like having a 110hp tractor for 2 furrows plough. What a buffoonery.
Waiting for comments like: this power is needed for clay soils, this tractor does other jobs the rest of the year, etc.
I'll never understand why some of us prefer to transfer their margin to Fendt or other brands.

If you want to see real skills in plowing come to visit Italian rice fields. In rice fields plowing is executed at its finest, because later it would result in less time spent in levelling.
Tidy job, but surely its just overcomplicating something that does have to be. And more moving parts to wear

I guess the mechanics for it are already (kinda) there on plows with stone protection (don't know if it's called that). Looks pretty neat though!
They have big government support.
For the sake of running around the headland turning it out to tidy it up before turning it in,this seems complex,expensive and a bit of a gimmick

If you look close you'll see windmills in the back. In these cases mechanical costs don't matter.
