Where I live in England, Muck boot wellies are well known as the best brand for real use. Not the posh boots but the ones farmers, game keepers and hunters where that know what's what.
My experience with muck boots is that they are better than average, and generally very comfortable, but the price for longevity is handily beaten by LaCross. Unfortunately my favorite farming boot, the LaCross Burly Air Grip has recently had it's 12" model discontinued and only the 18" remains. As a shorter person with fat calves the 18" is not only less convenient to pull on and off, but quite uncomfortable as well. :(
For what this boot is meant for. Looks good to me. This would not be a daily wear. But when needing waterproofing for a few day. I can wear this in the field
There are only a few people whose videos drop and I stop what I am doing (within reason) and watch. Weston’s one of those shortlisted few. Thanks, man.
Same, there are like 3 channels that I've watched consistently for years. This is one. One of the others was recommended by Weston, which is the Iron Snail, who got me to finally get into raw denim, and I recently got the jacket and jeans he designed and had made. Hid stuff is all American made, too. The denim on the selvedge jeans and jacket is from Japan, and he had a very unique wool fabric woven in Scotland, but everything he sells is made here.the non selvedge denim is made in America. He has a cheaper line too which was a good idea. I'd love to get his wool jacket. It's almost $600, I believe, but it's worth it. I've seen wool shirt jackets that cost over $500. This one he's designed would last for a lifetime. And if you look at other companies and what they charge, along with the amount of detail in the garments I own, I think they're an amazing deal. Especially for one guy who is just getting started. His videos are awesome. They were a little more silly, but they're edited very well. Okay, I gotta shut up.
I do snow removal in some brutal conditions every year. Sometimes I walk a full 8 hour day in sub zero temperature. I wore Muck boots a couple years, but they eventually split open. I switched to Dryshod and they are more comfortable and last longer, but ultimately split open like the Muck boots. I'm very curious how these new Mucks feel after 8 hours. And do they provide any warmth in long term cold exposure? I'd love to know more before I buy, because these seem awesome.
Yeah, neoprene doesn’t last very long. Some people buy a new wet suit every year even though you’re definitely not wearing it 8 hours a day 5 days a week like a pair of boots.
I so glad I found your channel.. little late but, I love it. I've been all about feet and improving mine since watching the Dr. Peter Attia episode with Courtney Conley. Your "minimalist" shoe/boot dissections lead me to my first pair of LEMS. And I see a pair of Jim Green barefoot boots in my future.
@@TommyNitro Used a pair of Zamberlan on my hiking, expeditions and as a nature guide. Had the pair for four years, and hands down the best pair of hiking shoes I've ever had! Build like a tanks, and would withstand all the abuse I put them through
Just picked up some Chelsea Ariat Hybrid Low Boy Western boots, if you haven’t already would you ever consider reviewing/cutting them open? Love the in depth content thanks!
Like what you doing and I had been follow you for almost a year now and you are the ONLY one that really cut a brand new shoes/boots and tell us what it’s made and is it worth the $ to buy. 👍
I have the previous version of high shaft lace boots muck made (don't remember the name, but half calf height) Wonderful, and even works well for wide feet no worries. (gotten used to barefoot shoes, but they still does the trick while hunting) Good job in general on the channel.
11:33, what's that tag overcyr shoulder from? I don't think it would still be on yr stichdown patina thunderdome shirt 😅 Also, the ending cuts are the best.
I’d like to see you compare muck vs dryshod. The original owner and maker of muck boots sold, them was mad years later when quality dropped and started dryshod. I have a pair of muck chore boots that are 10yrs old with regular use that are great and a steel toe muck that is 2yrs old that is falling apart.
There is a boot that I would love to see be cut open. When I was in the Marine Corps I went through and destroyed several pairs of boots, but for some reason, the only set of boots that not only lasted me my entire marine corps carreer and even still survived to this day was a pair of USMC RAT (Rugged All Terrain) Mojave boots that I had found abandoned in a common area, presumably from a previous Marine who didnt want them or didnt have room to take them. Regardless, even with the previous wear and tear from the previous owner, and my additional 4+ years of non stop abuse, the boots are still going strong to this day. I would love to see your opinion on these boots because they're the only pair that I somehow never managed to break.
I dont know if you read the coments but i would love a video on my favorite work boots the sievi. We walk 10.000 + steps each day at work and sievi is the only safety boots my back agree with. I wonder why.
I just watched your video from a few years back about the redbacks, have you ever done a follow up video on them i got some and damaged them in 6 months of ownership i want some more when i get my next boot allowance just wondering if you still find them some of the most comfortable.
I have 2 pairs of Muck Boots. One for ice conditions and one for mud. In both cases the neoprene liner at the heel has split and causes blisters. Both on the right foot. So while the boots are waterproof the liners are not robust enough. So I don't particularly rate them as good.
Thanks for the review. Been looking for a good hunting boot that I could wear in cold weather. Could you cut the Irish Setter Elk Trackers in half? People love that boot and I don’t know how much insulation I need
You should review Police motorcycle boots from companies like Dehner and Chipawa. Dehners are almost all custom made to fit and the Leather is great and durable
I wish your insoles existed when I bought three pairs of nicks at the same time. That would’ve been nice to have. as it was, I just put them on and went to work and suffered for like two months straight as I switched them out every day.
Can you please review adidas 510 clipless mountain bike shoes and Ride Concepts clipless mountain bike shoes to see which is using good EVA, which is more grippy, and which anti-bend feature is stronger?
Man, ive tried so many different rubber boots and never really been happy. The best ove tried were the XTRA TUFF boots. Non insulated. The insulated ones failed after about 2 weeks. I got a solid 8 months out of the non insulated.
I’ve been running Dryshods mudslinger myself, and it’s hands down the best 12 inch pull on. Unfortunately both brands and many others manufacture out of China so you have to bite the bullet on that.
It definitely wont be good for construction sites. We wear the full size boots because we will be up to our shins in water when running underground pipe for cables. Awesome video as always
Will that type of boot material make your feet sweaty? I never had a boot made of neoprene. By the way I love your channels. I have been following you since the beginning.
Weston, I higly respect your knowledge about leathers, hell I learned a lot from you! But your approach to synthetics and membranes is, in my opinion, showing your lack of experience. I have owned boots with gore-tex for years and most of the laminates I had in my footwear lasted longer than the leather. Yes, some of them are prone to wearing off, but GTX backed by the slippery chevron fabric or cambrelle can outlast the entire boot. I am especially a fan of cambrelle, it is one very reliable synthetic material used to make boot linings. I am aware that it might not be better for a leather fan like you, but I highly encourage you to get a pair of boots lined with that material and do a long term (like at least a year) test. There used to be a tons of boots lined with cambrelle, now it became less popular, but British brand Altberg is still using it for lining. Altberg supplied British Army with one of their models, maybe it is a brand that you should consider testing? Who knows, maybe you like their boots so much, you will make a collab with them :)
Yah, I've owned more than a few waterproof boots and by the time the linings start to fail the entire boot is falling apart or the sole has worn down. I wear them daily and even cheaper brands like Columbia last for years. I had a pair of goretex trail runners from Northface last for 5 or 6 years and had no leaking problems with them until I left them too close to the fire and melted them. Whoops. My bad. Other than that, no real problems from multiple brands.
Neoprene isn't water resistant, just like a wetsuit doesn't keep you dry. It's mainly used to regulate temperatures which, in this case, keeps your feet warm. It's the overlays and the water resisting lining which make the boots water resistant.
Were these boots provided by muck boot company at no cost to you? And is this a review or a partnership/sponsored video? No shade, just would like to know what I'm looking at here

@@KU-mg9elhe’s literally a hipster who reviews $1000 “city boots” lmao. He’s never made a single political statement on this channel so I wouldn’t know but I almost guarantee he’s not your stereotypical “republican” like you’re painting him out to be, lol.
Seems like it would be a decent light wieght hiker, but I think they missed on the price. 180 some dollars for a rubber hiker, no thanks. Surely it doesn't cost them anywhere near that to produce and they could come down. If it were more in the 80-100$ range I'd probably own a pair. But at nearly 200 I'll stick with my leather Irish setters for a little more or a pair of crispi's for 3-400 that are a true high support alpine hiker 🤷♂️
Do a cycling shoe/boot series - there are so many BS claims from big companies and some mid/smaller companies doing great stuff - it’s a minefield of content!
I'm really questioning how long these boots will last under any kind of serious use. Make no mistake, even leather will wear away over time with mid-to-heavy use, but the fabric in that heel looks like it'll wear away quite quickly. Waterproofing isn't everything, just look at the jungle boot; Military grunt tested in the swamps of Vietnam. No better stress test on earth. Quality product, or chasing the gimmick? Time will tell...
That won't breath but I'm really starting to not care about breathability. I'd MUCH rather a boot be waterproof first and breathable last. So long as you don't have moisture sitting directly on your skin (blisters, yo), you can always bring an extra pair of socks to change into after a few hours if you, like me, have super sweaty feet.
i have a pair of rubber boots with the neoprene liners. they are way too hot. feet can't breath. hot and clammy. i just wear them to run outside in the mud and snow. no lengh of time in them. leather, and or leather lined, is the only suitable material for a human foot to flourish.
If you don’t question his honesty, then you haven’t watched the videos about the Wesco boots. I’m watching this video with the same skepticism as I’d watch a cnn news report.
Beleived the hype and bought a pair of muckboots a while back... They've gotta be the most overpriced peices of crap I have ever wasted money on. Stay away from muckboots, they're utter garbage. Trust me, they'll fall apart in no time at all, and the companies customer service is a joke.
@ Other than China being our number one threat? And I don’t want to fund them. China has stolen all our intellectual property. Weakened our manufacturing base by offering slave labor wages. Muck boots are bullshit. I live and work on a ranch in CO and have the “ArcticSport”, rated to -40… I froze my toes off in +10F this morning plowing the driveway with the ATV in a matter of 30 minutes. Took an hour for my toes to thaw, put my Sorels on, toasty all day.
there is not much room for the fingers, like every other boot in the market. i am tired of all of them esquizing my fingers. my feet are the size OF THE EXTERIOR OF THE SHOE everyone is like in a tight tiny hole, like the neck of jiraffe women, and you normalized it. the molds are made from people with deformities who never walked barefooted for time enought as to spread the fingers. there is a world conspiracy in asfixiating strangle our feet. and it is not about the sizing, but the shape. everyone designs shoes as if we had 4 fingers, like the simpsons. similarly the underwear are made without room for the bag of marbles. meybe they cannot understand that a semicircunference has wider surface than the straight line.
@@Jake-bt3fc my languages are castillean/andalussian dicotomy and catalonian that i understand but i decline to think using it forvpolitical reasons. most people here from my generation 78 cannot talk english. take in account our television never aired english movies before the swap to terrestrial digital tv. they dubbed everything into catalonian and spanish. there are many variations of spanish and catalonian accents. my father's mother had the weirdest of all. something in between the aragonese and the lleidatà, then my father used some of that but mixed with barcelona's style, then the tv had the broadcast invented accent, then as a singer the music intonation changed my melodies when talking. my mother was from almería where we talk with a swap to the next consonant in example my mother was called carmela , but it is pronounced cam-mela. my skill of talking both styles of official vs this "countryside poor" is something my father and his sisters just cannot do. my younger brother and older sister can't talk english whatsoever. they consume content on spanish and catalonian, exclusively. i don't have any native english friend. i don't travel to barcelona capital hence there's no chance in real life to talk. once only once an american came to my house and my parents thought we were joking like a prank as we were eating at the table. but as they realized we kept talking those weird sounds and laughing between each other with recalls, replies, laughings etc they realized we weren't kidding but actually talking for real. my parents never heard me before talking this third language, why would i? i had some influence when i travelled in 92 for 15 days to birmingham uk, and i faced the struggle of been incapable of expressing myself in hunger, cold and lost. hence when i came back home i kept in mind that english shouldn't be forgotten after the exams, which was the case from my school's mates. im aware my grammar sucks. in the 90's i had 15 vhs instructional electric guitar tapes of americans, and i couldn't understand but i watched many times. at the end of 90's i asked to my father to buy some expensive vhs movies on english with english subtitles. i watched them many times and it helped me on the differences between written and pronunciation. Dangerous Minds, Die Hard 2, Green Card, the nightmare before christmas, Phenomenom. my father got really angry because he expected soon benefits from his investment in the vhs, as if i was going to get a job inmediatly, as a tree who he can't wait to harvest for first time, and when he noticed i only enriched my mind he got upset, regret and deception. quite stingy he is. it wasn't until 2015 that i had internet and since most content is on english because it's the vehicular language, i have the advantage of enjoying it. watching south park many times did the switch on my brain to comprehension. i remember hanging out with a friend who is a member of mensa high iq club and he already had computer with internet early on in 2011 and i stood there he was laughing and i watched the show but i couldn't understand. same as when i used to had the parabolic antenna in the late 90's when i watched 30 german tv channels but i never understood any word except "aba" which means "but". somehow one day after watching many times these english things without understanding most they said my english improved and that day i was like: " i can't tell if what i just watched was on spanish or was it on english" that was the transition of becoming "trilingüe". i still have some problems when watching movies because more sophisticated script then i often turn on the subtitles, but i don't need subtitles on youtube when people talk normal with poor average vocabulary. people from my city can't believe i am from here, because my accents, and their bad guess is getting even worse since lately i'm wearing a cowboy hat that confuses them and directly thinks i am a foreigner, sure, whatever. new generations 3 decades younger who has been raised with smartphone they are already globalized. i am 46.
Trump will... tariffs, baby! That's how we were able to build everything in this beautiful country America before the federal reserve and income taxes in 1913, thanks to the worst president of American history, or at least caused the most long term damage, Woodrow Wilson. Terrible man. Completely sold out this country to a group who were the original zionist Rothschild family. But Trump won't end the fed. America has killed any leader who has tried to separate from the central bank. I don't know if this problem can ever be solved honestly.

@@troyjenkins3886same! I love mine and usually have 2 or 3 pairs at any given point!
@@KU-mg9elhe’s literally a hipster who reviews $1000 “city boots” lmao. He’s never made a single political statement on this channel so I wouldn’t know but I almost guarantee he’s not your stereotypical “republican” like you’re painting him out to be, lol.
These are the sexiest boots I've ever seen
Go Irish!! 🇮🇪☘️🏈🏟️
I'd like something less agressive looking, and maybe more like a Bean boot. LL Bean should look at incorperating neoprene.
I hate the trend of the Achilles cut. I just don't feel a secure fit with them.
Hunting mountain goats? I didn't know people did that and I don't care for it.
My local co-op stopped carrying these boots due to returns from customers. They aren't holding up like they did years ago. Buyer beware
Do a cycling shoe/boot series - there are so many BS claims from big companies and some mid/smaller companies doing great stuff - it’s a minefield of content!
If only the sole didn't stick out so far past the heel. In my opinion no hiking boot should have such a big sole
neoprene makes me sweaty and it gets gross and soggy and it doesn't breath
I'm really questioning how long these boots will last under any kind of serious use.
Make no mistake, even leather will wear away over time with mid-to-heavy use, but the fabric in that heel looks like it'll wear away quite quickly.
Waterproofing isn't everything, just look at the jungle boot; Military grunt tested in the swamps of Vietnam. No better stress test on earth.
Quality product, or chasing the gimmick?
Time will tell...
Dude,
Do a 'Crafts and Glory' boots.
It's an indian brand.
I would really appreciate it.
Are there mom and pop native American tribe made boots?
Shame they don't offer width options, being FF width sucks :( can't wear nuthin.
i have a pair of rubber boots with the neoprene liners. they are way too hot. feet can't breath. hot and clammy. i just wear them to run outside in the mud and snow. no lengh of time in them. leather, and or leather lined, is the only suitable material for a human foot to flourish.
Turned off @1:16 when he said China
That's crazy. How'd you make this comment? 😮
@ Other than China being our number one threat? And I don’t want to fund them. China has stolen all our intellectual property. Weakened our manufacturing base by offering slave labor wages. Hacked all of our financial and critical infrastructure. They can put us on our knees in a heart beat. But hey…. As long as we get a good price on a boot, right?
Camo pattern with bright orange parts. Yeah, sure :D
deer cant see orange
Say you've never hunted without saying you've never hunted... Deer don't see orange, there are camo patterns that are basically all blaze orange with some stick and leaf outlines over top and they work just as well on deer as standard camo.
@@zachmiller9175 there are things to do in nature that require being stealthy, other than killing for fun.
Also, there are animals other than deer.
No there aren’t unless you’re a thief or you’re in the military.
Muck has some decent boots but their customer service is dog shit.
My interest was gone when you said made in China for $180. It should be like $80
You can barely get made in china sneakers from a name brand company for $80 today. Get real.
Blame Nixon and Clinton
@@otterconnor942 Don't forget Reagan.
Muck pull-ons suck. They don't last
there is not much room for the fingers, like every other boot in the market. i am tired of all of them esquizing my fingers. my feet are the size OF THE EXTERIOR OF THE SHOE everyone is like in a tight tiny hole, like the neck of jiraffe women, and you normalized it. the molds are made from people with deformities who never walked barefooted for time enought as to spread the fingers. there is a world conspiracy in asfixiating strangle our feet. and it is not about the sizing, but the shape. everyone designs shoes as if we had 4 fingers, like the simpsons. similarly the underwear are made without room for the bag of marbles. meybe they cannot understand that a semicircunference has wider surface than the straight line.
You meant to say toes, not fingers. Other than that your English is very good.
Dangerous Minds, Die Hard 2, Green Card, the nightmare before christmas, Phenomenom. my father got really angry because he expected soon benefits from his investment in the vhs, as if i was going to get a job inmediatly, as a tree who he can't wait to harvest for first time, and when he noticed i only enriched my mind he got upset, regret and deception. quite stingy he is.
it wasn't until 2015 that i had internet and since most content is on english because it's the vehicular language, i have the advantage of enjoying it. watching south park many times did the switch on my brain to comprehension. i remember hanging out with a friend who is a member of mensa high iq club and he already had computer with internet early on in 2011 and i stood there he was laughing and i watched the show but i couldn't understand. same as when i used to had the parabolic antenna in the late 90's when i watched 30 german tv channels but i never understood any word except "aba" which means "but". somehow one day after watching many times these english things without understanding most they said my english improved and that day i was like: " i can't tell if what i just watched was on spanish or was it on english" that was the transition of becoming "trilingüe". i still have some problems when watching movies because more sophisticated script then i often turn on the subtitles, but i don't need subtitles on youtube when people talk normal with poor average vocabulary. people from my city can't believe i am from here, because my accents, and their bad guess is getting even worse since lately i'm wearing a cowboy hat that confuses them and directly thinks i am a foreigner, sure, whatever. new generations 3 decades younger who has been raised with smartphone they are already globalized. i am 46.
Nah.
Tell them to stop making their boots in china and more people will buy them. I won’t even consider an item made there.
What did you type this comment on? Guarantee it’s made in china, lol.
Not sending anymore of my money abroad. Buy American Only.
