It makes me glad you show that even your squadrons get entirely wiped out. Even experienced players lose them all. That is really something inspirational to all the newer CV players
I wish players would learn from this when they keep saying, "CV'S are OP!" Everyone was spoiled during the CV pre-work where one ship's AA was enough to deter most attacks. Guess what? It didn't work like that in history and it doesn't work like that now (Unless you create a full on AA build with all the bells and whistles, but I don't see anyone getting in line to do that as a new meta). Yes, one ship's AA isn't enough. 2? Maybe. How about 3? Or 4? Or like in this video, almost the whole team staying together and giving AA support to each other? Even great CV players like Toptier have a hard time getting through a flak bubble like they had. It's when they break up or decide to go out on their own do you start seeing how OP carriers can be. "But Toptier realized this and just started spotting for his team! That right there shows how OP CV's are!" Yes it does. So tell YOUR CV to do the same thing instead of trying to rack up the damage. It works both ways here.
@@gusp6612 No actually I was. It took awhile, but I started doing very well. But that isn't coming back and we have what WG has created for CV's. You either adapt and learn or just keep getting jabbed in the face.
My point of reasoning is this: if i spec the most powerful AA cruiser in the game to be AA-focused, a CV shouldnt be able to attack me with any degree of ease. The entire point of AA ships is that they hard-counter CVs when no other ship can. But now AA is unreliable at the best of times, making specing for it a waste of points.
@@derek96720 True. The only hard counter a ship has to CVs is the flak clouds which can be easily avoided if you know how it works. It's the continuous AA that takes out planes most of the time. I've also witnessed games where there was no AA and then BLAM a wall of flak appears right in front and the entire squadron goes down. Neptunes the tier 8-10 euro DDs and the Hallands are good at this. A good trait I've noticed recently in finding good AA ships is how close of a match the AA range and the concealment from air is. The Neptune has this and by the time you noticed it, your planes already went through a cloud or two.
65,914 damage? You are part human, and not all super unicorn after all! ;) Great content Toptier! Thanks taking the time in sharing/making video for us.
It would be very nice if a future video could include some explanation about spotting. I have rewatched the vid for a few times but i still had a hard time understanding why i cant get any spot dmg in my games =( A very nice game indeed, well played!
It depends on various factors: 1) Who spotted the target? If another ship spotted the target first before you and other ships start getting in hits then that ship gets the spotting damage. 2) Where was your friendly ship when he fired? Even if you spotted the target first, if an ally ship is within range AND has direct line of sight to the target then you won't get spotting damage. A good scenario on getting a bunch of spotting damage is when a friendly cruiser parks next to an island and your aircraft starts spotting targets. He has no direct line of sight to the enemy ships, but your spotting has allowed him to commence firing. If you keep the targets spotted while he continues firing, then your spotting damage can rack up. HOWEVER, let's say the target has moved up so much that he can't fire over the island anymore and decides to slowly creep his ship forward until his guns can fire. Now he has DIRECT line of sight and your spotting is useless now that he himself can see the target. There's probably more factors contributing to how this works, but this is just the basics from what I've experienced.
As watermelon said, it's a question Midway players ask themselves. Do you want the high alpha damage from one strike or do you want consistent damage over a period of time. For me, the alpha damage is huge and could turn a match around. If you miss though, it's a huge blow because you now have to take the time to send out another squadron to try again and who knows how many TB's you lost on the exit out of the attack run. If you practice enough, you may realize that you get huge damage from using the BTD's and you prefer them over the Skyraiders. I think you may have to possibly choose an upgrade and maybe spend captain points for the BTD's to work better that could have gone to other skills or upgrades.

How dare ships have counters! BLASPHEMY! CV must have no counter. It must shit on every ship regardless of class or build.

Hola esta muy chida tu intro saludame porfa
When i see strong AA in enemy team and doing like u then i got 3-4 reports per battle because "useless CV"...
You are quite right
When is it recommended to take the torpedo acceleration?
In CVs basically never. It adds almost nothing since you´re already dropping torps point blank.
@@esaualfaro3447 actually TA is really helpful on US and RN CVs considering how slow the torps are
why do you use Skyraider instead BTD for TB?
He says they aim faster and it helps is torp hit damage.
@@jagsdomain203 but if you can aim from afar you can score those 6 torp hit

ahhh i see now, BTD’s aim is slower than Skyraiders. I’m on Midway now, maybe i’m gonna try BTD first, to find my suitable playstyle
