25:47 is the only part I have a problem with. Absolutely fantastic documentary of a really awesome and interesting band otherwise. Different cultures have been riffing off of each other for milenia. Irish folk music influeced Country & Western, which influenced Blues, which influenced... well, you get the point. To say that one culture was wholly responsible for a sound is a fool's errand IMO
Rock n Roll was played by Black people exclusively for years. Even the blues on which it was based is rooted in African music. Over the decades, plenty of other cultures added to the rich tapestry, but don't get the story twisted.
Man Omar is one of a kind… would of been a blast to chat with him rip to a legend more people need to be talking bout this man! Whole band was incredible

Much Punk/oi Love to the family/friends etc , I know it old but This band hit hard and love it . For this ,even if I don't know him , He shall be miss by a stranger.
They have a 7" available that you might find on Discogs. The album is still pending and hopefully will get a proper release one day. 2/3 of the band have a new outfit called Seized and Desist.
reminds me of the days when metal and hip hop/rap were in the same camp. We were all outsiders and supported each other. We had a voice that said "whatever this is, it aint working for me"... when listening to Metallica and N.W.A. in the same sitting was ok, then it all factionalized. Almost like someone wanted it to happen.
Pretty much everything started in Memphis & Here we are a 100 years later does anybody else wonder where all of this music is going to go a 100 years from now ? REST IN PEACE OMAR I met him years ago in Chicago at the infamous Punkin donuts 💗

Apparently those are bootlegs unsanctioned and not approved in advance by the members of the band. Not sure how they came into existence but hope there might be more official versions pressed in the U.S.
@@Millwall77 I’m sure nobody knew. Just a heads up so you know the history. I’m sure that will make it more collectible to some people. I’m actually really curious to hear it since they claim it to be “remastered” but didn’t have access to the source files.

I'd like to help this drummer out with gear as I have more than I need, please reach out to me. I've never heard someone get so much out of so little. That little Gretch be bop kit is going WTF. This BMF needs a big bass drum and some Paiste Rude cymbals that will peel the paint off the walls.
I first heard of these guys shortly before Omar passed and I was immediately moved by them. As a Latino rocker and lifelong ST fan, this resonates on so many levels!
ElvislaD...LLLLOOLLLL!!! Perfect, white teeth...huh. Well, they believed in Colgate. Now,when you look at early pictures of the Clash and the Rolling Stones, obviously, these bands didn't.
I thought Skinheads in all their forms had gone extinct. Most of them grew up and grew a brain a long long time ago. I guess some didnt, perhaps? At least one of the surviviors was the rarest kind of skin a SHARP! too bad that this extra rare skinhead survivior is not a survivor anymore. Life sucks! Death sucks! And Human Beings suck! I have done the research and found that Humans have A Genus, A Phylum, An Order, A Species, And A Class. But no race. According to science there is no such thing as race. End of story! Completely rational and irrefutably just a fact as per science!
Boneheads not skinheads. You need to do some more research and look up the origins of the original skinhead movement that started in the late 60's in the UK, you'll be surprised. The Boneheads hijacked it in the late 70's.
R13h D...this documentary only lays out the band's foundation of what they have experienced, perhaps. You do not have to accept their politics, but note their ambition. Besides, most "Punk" bands documentary highlights their beliefs...see the British band called "The Exploited"(sex and violence | beat the bastards) or "The Clash ( Sandanista | Washington bullets ). To a Conservative listener ,how and why, these bands would be considered heretical.
I got that feel right from the start with the first clip of Omar singing, didn't take long for the SHARP and anti fascism to pop up. I started in the scene in 1981, I have seen HC bands back in the day all over the US and Europe, grew up as a street kid when Rock Against Reagan and No Business as Usual were going on, and when I lived in Europe I saw Antifa before it was imported over to the US by adults who have an agenda, I saw Geraldo get hit with a chair, I remember when the NF came over to Cali to recruit and the emergence of hate, and how adults tried to recruit us for their racist cause, I remember BASH and WAR, and I remember when everything changed and it wasn't cool to have a bald head, and the political correctness that came as a reaction from New York during the late 1980s. It was all stupid, RAC and SHARP were for the odd few who came in from the outside, weekend posers from the colleges and suburbs, they were not family to us, we didn't care about any of it and we certainly didn't need the virtue posturing. I say all of this because when I talk to younger kids that show up at these shows they have a lot of opinions that are not really linked to the actual history and culture of what they are trying to emulate. I say all of this to also remind these new kids that I aint fucking dead and until that day don't go around acting like you own the scene, the culture or know anything about what it was like back in the day. When I watch the video of Omar I see a gifted musician who is timeless and is simply who he is, no posing. The other band members come across as legit and the music rocks. All the political postering by the younger "punk" "traditional skin" kids (over weight and soft is not a good look I might add) who don't have the balls to reject the woke bull shit just detract from the authenticity that Omar connected with.
@@claudesledge5545 The Exploited are from Edinburgh, you may want to look that up on a map. I wouldn't put Joe Stummer in the same league as Wattie, one is a dead pop star and the other is drunk and still on tour
