@@margaretwerner6690 I picked up a bag of 22 balloons for $1 at my local dollar general & I stretched them over my liquid containers for an upcoming Caribbean cruise. Great minds 🖐️
I buy 2 ounce hand sanitizer bottles with the hanging loop attached. I empty the bottles and wash them. I have one for shampoo, one for conditioner and one for Jergens wet lotion. I can then hang it on the metal shelf in the shower. It frees up space on that extremely tiny shelf.
Love the DIY dryer sheet wrinkle spray! Genius! Also, after spraying your DIY wrinkle spray, use a hair dryer to run over the damp spots. It will help those wrinkles drop out even smoother. Thanks Ilana, your videos are always so helpful.
I'm am very much enjoying your videos and finding them very helpful! Also, you can make your own Poo-Pourri. Take any size spray bottle and fill 1/3 full with witch hazel, then add pure essential oil or combo of oils to your desired scent (about 30 to 40 drops total but may vary) and then fill the remainder of the bottle with purified water or water that has been boiled at least five minutes then cooled. Shake well before use. There may be other recipes but this one works great and super easy to make.
I bought a set of pill containers that was seven holders that screwed together to make a sort of tower. These can hold face moisturizer, eye cream, and foot cream, for example and take up very little space. The lids screw on tightly to avoid leaks and having them all together is super handy, plus it was really inexpensive. At first I thought they wouldn't be big enough, but just one them held enough of my daytime facial moisturizer for a two-week vacation, with some left when I came home.

One hack I tried and it worked: I decided to not bring any shower gel, shampoo or conditioner on our trip. Instead I learned since we paid for a Jr. Suite that our shampoo and conditioner would be an upgrade from a cheaper room. So, I decided to test it - and I found I was perfectly happy with the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner that was provided right in the shower. Less packing on the front end and back end and no bottles in the shower! My hair looked and felt great!
I guess I'm the only one, but I don't care about having wrinkles. I pack in a way to help prevent them, but no way do I stress about them if I have any. I will never see these people again anyway so It doesn't matter to me. Thanks for the videos as always, Ilana. :-)

That's awesome! So glad its been helpful as you plan your bday cruise!! Have a amazing time & I appreciate your feedback & thank you for your purchase :-)
I bought the hanging toiletry bag you recommended and LOVED it on our first week long cruise! 2 things I LOVE that I learned about that I don't see anyone recommending is DISPOSABLE UNDERWEAR! Sounds weird, I know. I used it for our Israel/Egypt trip and it was a game changer! I found them on Amazon. They are soft, individually wrapped and comfy! I had more room in my bag for the trip home and they are so comfy and less dirty clothes! Also, our 7 day Caribbean cruise turned into a 9 day cruise because of Helene so I was glad I had plenty of undees. Also, DISPOSABLE WASHCLOTHS - the rest of the world apparently don't use washcloths - at least none in Greece, Turkey, Israel and Egypt. They are also individually wrapped and tiny. Also if I forget whose wash cloths is whose - I just grab a disposable one. 2 great products I love! OH, on most of our trips I end up giving people both of these products: a washcloth from my back pack to pour water on to cool down and extra underwear after being baptized in the River Jordan to the lady who forgot to bring her bathing suit!
I bring a little nail set that walmart has for $1 at Christmas time. It folds up tiny in a clamshell style. Has a tiny nail scissors that I use almost every trip to cut a tag i missed, a file, tweezers, 2 nail clippers. I'd attach a picture, but I'm not sure how.
Just tried the Vaseline with my favorite fragrance mist added and it works great. Thanks for the tip. I found tiny little containers of Vaseline in Target. Just .25 ounces. Even smaller than the tiny packing containers.
If you use a solid soap or shampoo, I recommend a matador soap bag. You can put a wet soap bar in the bag, the water will evaporate within the bag, but won’t get the rest of your items wet. Have used mine for the past 6 months with my solid shampoo bar and love this bag. Not cheap (about $20), but so much smaller than a travel soap dish.
Thank you for the vaseline and perfume hack, going to try that before I go on my trip. I was going to try a different hack. The suggestion was to take cotton balls and get them semi wet with the perfume in a "zip lock" bag and seal tightly. If by chance they dry out you can revive them with a little spritz of water. Cotton balls are not a liquid 😉
I did a few months ago or makeup primers (I took 2 different types) and didn't even need one compartment for a week long trip when I wore makeup everyday. I'm doing my this again in the future for toners, serums and eye creams.
As usual great information Ilana, your hair looks fantastic btw. Can't tell what you did different or why it looks different but just wanted to let you know.
I agree. Our last cruise. I minimized to the max! Came back with a few shirts that i didn’t wear. Ps - I’m a casual relaxed person & don’t need to impress anyone but my wife!
Wow! Some great ideas. Didn't know about the mini soap. Definitely will be looking at using many of these ideas. TY for ur great content. Happy cruising. 🎉
Your videos are always so helpful, Thank you for some of these little hacks. I really like the one about the Vaseline with the perfume, I think I am going to try that one. One of the hacks I do is at Walmart there is a section in toiletry area that has small trial type things, so I go there and check out what they have. Most of the time I get my hairspray from there. It is small and compact and when done I do not have to haul it home with me. I do the same with the scrunchie sponges from there. also in that area there are some of the clear bottles so I get them from there too.
@@LifeWellCruised You may need to go a few times to check out what they have. Some bins in that section are almost always sold out at my 3 nearest Walmarts. But when I stopped in last week for things for my cruise next week - it was *completely* restocked. Score !
I find perfumes work in place of poo pourri, I keep my perfume samplers for that very purpose 🙂 One spray into the water before I go, and one spray after.
Instead of taking body wash on vacation with me I use a Spongelle. I love these things and they are usually my go to body wash at home as well. One of them lathers up over 14 times and for those flying..no liquids to deal with.
Hi Ilana! Thanks for all the cruise planning hints. I am wondering what kind of eye shadow pencil you like to pack? Much appreciated. cheers from Nova Scotia :)
I like that hanging pouch case. I think I'll try that for the next cruise. I brought like 15 little samples of perfumes, the little ones attached to the cards. I saved them up for my current trip. So easy to pack and so many options to choose from.
@cancerfish66 - My sister & I were on a flight last week, and she had an almost immediate negative reaction to a nearby passenger's perfume (or cologne).😢😤🤧 Thankfully, there was an empty seat about six rows away, and the flight attendant moved her right away. She's never had that happen before (even after taking many flights). It still bothered her hours later, but not as badly as at first. Thankfully, no issues on our return flight. Not trying to be preachy, just want to make people aware that applying a lot of perfume can affect another passenger's actual breathing. Enjoy your next vacation utilizing Ilana's tips!!
@SharonPerson-hm9ds that's terrible! My favorite fragrance is made from one single note and does not contain any allergens. I usually don't wear anything on a flight or just one spray of that. Juliette Has A Gun-Not A Perfume
@cancerfish66 It was concerning, for sure, especially when she still was feeling it a few hours later. Thank you for telling me about 'Juliette has a Gun'. The rock I've apparently been living under did not have information about it!😂
Ilana - your hair looks GREAT in this video… I was thinking that it looked even nicer than normal and then, you commented about the shampoo/conditioner bars and how you even thought that your hair responded better than with your normal shampoo/conditioner. I have to get those bars! That would save some stress on the liquids game with TSA, for sure!
Plain water works also for a wrinkle release. I take an empty 3 to 4 ounce spray bottle, fill it with water. I lightly mist whatever is wrinkled, smooth it out and when the item dries, the wrinkles are gone.
Thank you! This is Charlotte Tilbury in Champagne Diamonds. I haven’t checked if there’s a drug store or Amazon brand that might be similar, but I love the color
I have sensitive skin so I can't just use anything. So I bring my own stuff. I do decant some things to even smaller containers to reduce the weight. I don't wear a ton of make up so that doesn't take up much room. I bring eyeliner, mascara, eye brow pencil, eye brow gel, and a small eye shadow palette. I put it in a small pouch in my personal item bag. I bring tide pods for doing laundry and some dawn dish soap for not only to wash my travel coffee mug but as a stain remover. I will try the dry sheet hack on my next cruise.
I'm a minimalist. I don't wear make-up, other than lipstick occasionally, so that's not an issue for me. I rarely bring shampoo or conditioner, as every cruise cabin and hotel room has those, and I'm not particular. I do bring small containers of hand and face lotion, but I'd rather bring multiple small containers than a larger one. That way, I can toss the empties and have a bit more room in my luggage when I'm headed home. Every drugstore these days has a section with travel-size items, and I have accumulated a supply of mini-tubes of toothpaste from my dentist's office.
I use a detectable pod hanging bag that you showed. I fill up the 4 compartments with my toiletries, my first aide, my hair products, and then with anything else that I need for the bathroom, such as my soaps, my shampoo or anything else of that nature and then I hang it up on the back of the door in the bathroom and i'm ready to go. I love this because when I'm packing I'm able to take off the detachables and put them in my suitcase where ever I have room.
I packed a little sharpener. The eyeshadow pencil I bought is Charlotte Tilbury, but honestly I haven’t tried any others to see if they work as well. I think I will :)
@@LifeWellCruisedwhat is kitch? Also, I have several of these similar items and I still make myself nuts. I absolutely hate looking for things, I over pack and just don't know how to make it better. I do love your videos!
My favorite hack is to use the contact cases that come with contact solution. I use them for pills, hair products, liquid makeup, body bronzers, Neosporin, hydrocortisone cream, etc. They are the perfect size for small items and small amount of product.
Hi Ilana, I love your videos, and your presentation is always so easy to watch! Just wanted to let you know that your link for reef safe sunscreen features a product that is unavailable. I am heading to the Mexican Riviera and would love your suggestion for a different reef safe sunscreen? Thanks so much!
How can I find out: does the shower of an inside cabin on the island princess have a shower hose or only a shower head? Thank you for any info you can give us.😊
Solid hand lotions work well! Good for on the plane, as don't have to take space in liquid bag. Also Amazon sells a bulk package of disposable shower caps that pack very small, are quite inexpensive, and do make great shoe covers.
Ilana!!
Hi Ilana! I like your new travel bag. I’m going to have to check that out. Also I use those washing machine sheets at home so I did bring one to hand wash something on our last screws. I’m going to check out your must haves!
We need another edition of packing to get through London Heathrow Airport TSA. They're reportedly stricter than the US, and have upset many a passenger who try to use their reusable zipper plastic pouch as a 3-1-1 bag, and have searched carry-on bags for solid soap and solid food. They have the time for all that, even when the rest of us don't. I plan to fly into LHR for a cruise in 2026, and all the boards discussing security for return flights is anxiety-provoking.
Our last 3 cruises we had booked suites so you have plenty of storage space. We are booked for Symphony again this coming summer but booked an Oceanview balcony. It’s me, hubs and a preteen and 10 year old. I’m hoping to take one toiletry bag that hangs instead of 4 individual ones. Pray for me
Thanks for sharing! I have a question and since I feel you are pretty good at "things needed for cruises". Question: We will be doing a 54-day cruise from LA to Australia, Tahiti, etc. LA, and we usually do 14-day cruises. What if anything would you suggest for longer cruises in regard to packing or items that you would not normally think of? You have such great suggestions and don't recall what you would do for an almost 8-week cruise.
Great question! I recently interviewed someone on the World Cruise who shared with me that you can always get basics like deodorant etc at ports. Plan on laundry and organization with a few cabin hacks can help to feel more at home :-)
I have the pouches that Velcro to the hanging thing. I don’t like it when it’s hanging. The items fall out easily because the zipper openings are in the middle.
Hi Illana…..I clicked on the mini poo-pouring link and came up with bottles instead of the minis…thot you’d like to know. Learned a few new things from your video today!!thx
Good morning!! Firstly let me say your hair looks beautiful are you parting it on a different side? Also my hack...well i don't pack light...but my husband does...so my hack is i use the extra space in HIS suitcase lol...funny yep but true!!!...viv
I add vinegar to the rinse cycle when I do laundry. Works as well as fabric softener and a whole lot cheaper! When the clothes are dry, there’s no odor of the vinegar.
I started using just plain water many years ago (before downy wrinkle release) when I was ironing a load of wrinkly laundry & had to remoisten the clothes cause even the steam setting wasn’t enough to get the wrinkles out. I had misted a pile of shirts, & by the time I got a few shirts down, many of the wrinkles had already “released” before I even ironed them. Now, I rarely iron! I just hang the clothes on a plastic hanger, mist the wrinkles, pull the clothing out gently and leave it hanging to dry.
Hi Ilana, this video was made for me..Toiletries, I cannot live without. I prefer my own, even if they are supplied by the cruise line. Especially in the upcoming 21 days. I do have several of those bags with the removal pouches, and that pink one also….I always utilize the smaller bottles and containers, i just need to figure out what sizes and how many as this cruise length is the longest I have been on.😂🚢..Thx Illana
You must have read my mind- I was hoping you would do a video,on toiletry packing. My question is this. Are you able to pack all your toiletry, makeup, medical (band aids etc.) and lotions, in only the hanging toiletry bag ? You seem to have additional pouches in some of your videos . Do you sometimes use the clear bags in addition to or exclusive of the hanging bag? Thank you
I recently bought hand soap in sheets because on my last cruise sometimes the soap dispensers were empty. I also bring a cleansing balm to remove makeup so it doesn't spill in my luggage like a liquid.
The ONLY downside with the mini-PooPouri is that each pump/spray is so much less than the regular size, so you end up pumping the spray so many times. It's a trade-off. 🙂
Use zip lock bags. They take up very little space. My philosophy is that it's a vaca so simplicity is key. Don't take anything you'll use or wear only once.
Wow. A 16 day cruise sounds amazing! Do you use any motion sickness meds for long cruises that dont have many side effects? Just checking we just used scopolamine patch for a 5 day and worked well but brain fog was really bad. We have a 9 day coming up next Oct and might keep Bonine on hand just in case but I dont believe that should be taken once daily for that long. I will need to check with my doctor. Happy travels and thanks Ilana for the great tips!
Hi I know that i am off topic but a question just came up.When we are on a cruise and did not take wifi package can we still use our cell to book reservations to restaurant?
Ilana, that scissors is too big. I bought an efficient folding one. It’s called Shapenty. Small enough blades to be allowed on flight. I think you’ll like it 😊
Thanks for the tip! I’ll check that out! 🙂 I have brought these on flights and they’ve been fine (I honestly have them since my preschool teaching days 😂)
Smaller is better! I use the smallest little containers or medicine bags for everything such as hair pastes, creams. I now also pack little single use packs of antibiotic ointment, cortizone cream, ( the Welly brand even sells them) vasoline, sunscreen, toothpaste, mouthwash instead of tubes. Its amazing how little is needed of daily use items for a 3 week trip. Rarely do I need 1oz of anything. And samples are terrific from Sephora or my hairdresser.
One trick I did for this most recent cruise is that I rolled & taped my underwear like they do in the package when bought new. It took up less space in the packing cube.

@@LifeWellCruised You may need to go a few times to check out what they have. Some bins in that section are almost always sold out at my 3 nearest Walmarts. But when I stopped in last week for things for my cruise next week - it was *completely* restocked. Score !
I'm going to try the sheet in the bottle hack....neat!!!!
Chanel Mademoiselle,my favourite perfume for special occasions ❤
@@janinek6136 my favorite too! I have a couple others, but I always come back to this one
I find perfumes work in place of poo pourri, I keep my perfume samplers for that very purpose 🙂
One spray into the water before I go, and one spray after.
never thought of that
I like your videos soooo much! And btw your hair looks fabulous 🙂
Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words
I always get some new ideas out of your videos. Trying to plan a Hawaii cruise and it's a big deal for us so all ideas are welcome!
For Lenin and any wrinkled clothes spray the wrinkle release then hair dryer provided by the cruise line, your welcome
I love all your videos 😊
Thanks so much! I appreciate you being here :-)
Great video Ilana as usual!! Love the new hacks too!! 💖
Thank you! Glad you like the new hacks 😊
I like that hanging pouch case. I think I'll try that for the next cruise. I brought like 15 little samples of perfumes, the little ones attached to the cards. I saved them up for my current trip. So easy to pack and so many options to choose from.
I like it too, it actually has a hook as well so it still hangs. Smart to get samples to bring. Thanks for sharing this
@cancerfish66 - My sister & I were on a flight last week, and she had an almost immediate negative reaction to a nearby passenger's perfume (or cologne).😢😤🤧
Thankfully, there was an empty seat about six rows away, and the flight attendant moved her right away.
The rock I've apparently been living under did not have information about it!😂
@SharonPerson-hm9ds the one called Not A Perfume is my favorite, but they have lots of other good ones too. If you try it, I hope you like it.
I love your eyeshadow pencil. What brand and color is it?
Ilana - your hair looks GREAT in this video… I was thinking that it looked even nicer than normal and then, you commented about the shampoo/conditioner bars and how you even thought that your hair responded better than with your normal shampoo/conditioner. I have to get those bars! That would save some stress on the liquids game with TSA, for sure!
I think so, as I haven’t used it in at least 6 weeks, than used it the day I made the video. I find the conditioner in particular is very good
Plain water works also for a wrinkle release. I take an empty 3 to 4 ounce spray bottle, fill it with water. I lightly mist whatever is wrinkled, smooth it out and when the item dries, the wrinkles are gone.
The Dollar Tree has laundry detergent sheets.... 15 sheets for $1.25.
Awesome! I’m due for a trip
I need to know the brand and color of your eye shadow stick! Love the color looks great on you!
Thank you! This is Charlotte Tilbury in Champagne Diamonds. I haven’t checked if there’s a drug store or Amazon brand that might be similar, but I love the color
Your hair looks fantastic!
@@chanej2651 thanks for sharing this 👏
I'm a minimalist.
Are you my sister from another mister? Me too 😊
That’s awesome!!
You must be young and incredibly beautiful! Some of us (ME! lol) need a little fresh paint on the old house. 😂
@@shannonhawkins3296😂🙋🏼♀️me too! 🤣🤣
@@shannonhawkins3296 - I wish! I quit wearing make-up after I retired.
That’s great! That was what I was thinking for packing it’s easier to place the pouches than one larger bag
Thank you for all your tips and hacks. Love them!
You're welcome! Hope they help make your cruise even better
Love the eye shadow pencil suggestion. Is there a link to the one you use? Do you have to pack a sharpener for the pencil too?
I packed a little sharpener. The eyeshadow pencil I bought is Charlotte Tilbury, but honestly I haven’t tried any others to see if they work as well. I think I will :)
Your hair looks super pretty!
Thanks so much! 😊
I use Kitsch all the time!
Really great product 👏
@@LifeWellCruisedwhat is kitch? Also, I have several of these similar items and I still make myself nuts. I absolutely hate looking for things, I over pack and just don't know how to make it better. I do love your videos!
My favorite hack is to use the contact cases that come with contact solution. I use them for pills, hair products, liquid makeup, body bronzers, Neosporin, hydrocortisone cream, etc. They are the perfect size for small items and small amount of product.
@@tinaarnall4659 I never thought for neosporin ect!!
My perfume hack is to use one of those little containers and soak a cotton ball (real cotton)with my perfume.
Two days to go. HIP HIP HOORAY 😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
Enjoy!!!
@@pocorosso765 oh interesting!! I’ll have to look for both
Ilana!!
Haha!! Try replacing some bigger items with small sizes
your hair looks extra pretty today
Hi Ilana, we are going on a New Year’s cruise, Symphony of the Seas, eastern Caribbean. I can’t wait to try the perfume/vaseline hack, thanks!
I save and reuse the contact lens storage containers for my foundation, under-eye cream, vaseline, concealer, etc.
As always great travel tips!💜
Glad you like them & thanks so much for watching 😊
Great to be back 😊👍🏼thanks for the great ideas !! Happy weekend 🧡
Glad you’re here!!
@ thank you 😊
Do you have a link to the eyeshadow pencil? Thank you!
I have the pouches that Velcro to the hanging thing. I don’t like it when it’s hanging. The items fall out easily because the zipper openings are in the middle.
good to know thank u
I have that hanging toiletry bag and I love it!
Great to know!! Thanks for sharing 😊
Hi Illana…..I clicked on the mini poo-pouring link and came up with bottles instead of the minis…thot you’d like to know. Learned a few new things from your video today!!thx
Oh good catch! I’ll update that link. Thanks for watching!
Mine came up with the mini’s… hmm!!
Good morning!! Firstly let me say your hair looks beautiful are you parting it on a different side? Also my hack...well i don't pack light...but my husband does...so my hack is i use the extra space in HIS suitcase lol...funny yep but true!!!...viv

@ your welcome!😀
I’ve heard you can use vinegar water as a wrinkle release.
I add vinegar to the rinse cycle when I do laundry. Works as well as fabric softener and a whole lot cheaper! When the clothes are dry, there’s no odor of the vinegar.
@@JaniceCrowell very interesting! I just would not want to spray vinegar on my clothes on a cruise as it might make the cabin smell for a bit
I don’t take any shavers I shave 🪒 that morning before the cruise 🚢 but I guess if a person grows hair fast then I guess take one
I always cut my shampoo bars in smaller pieces. You can warm them on low just enough to warm them and they cut very easily:)
Warm in the microwave:)
Wow, that’s a great idea, I’ll have to give that a try!
Smart!!!
I have a question can you send postcards/mail from a cruise ship? 🚢
I'm trying the roll up make up bag on this trip.
Try to minimize but... 😂
The good thing about that one is that each pouch can fit into different parts of your luggage or carry on :)
The ONLY downside with the mini-PooPouri is that each pump/spray is so much less than the regular size, so you end up pumping the spray so many times. It's a trade-off. 🙂
@@ErikaEmody yes, you’re right
Use zip lock bags. They take up very little space. My philosophy is that it's a vaca so simplicity is key. Don't take anything you'll use or wear only once.
I love the idea of those little containers but when i have longer nails its so hard to get out without going way under my nails lol 😂
Same so I'll use a qtip to get it out.
Lol, I hear you. A qtip or anything else that can help :-)
Do you ever use the shampoo that the cruise supplies? The Celebrity is decent.
@@robinschannelmcconnell5575 I will on some lines. I like HAL as well - other lines it’s a mix of shampoo & conditioner & I just don’t like that
I stopped using perfumes in public due to people’s allergies. I do miss wearing mine though.
Yayyyyyyyy thank you this was awesome
I’m so glad you liked it! 😊
My wife and I can do two weeks with one 311 bag between us. Will be doing 16 day cruise in December and will still manage with one 311 bag.
Wow that's impressive!
Yes, the cruise app will work & is free
@@LifeWellCruised If it is app on the phone does it not require wifi of cell coverage? Also when you dock is there free wifi you can access?
Be aware...Heathrow will not allow that size toiletry see thru bag.....they will make you trash what can't fit into a small zip-lock bag.
I appreciate these videos! Always looking for better ways to travel. I'm a hot mess traveler even though I've been traveling a longgggg time!! Hah!
Haha I’m always trying to pick up new tricks too 😂
Mascara tends to dry out- I wouldn't designate one just for travel, unless you're a frequent flyer!
On my last cruise I tried toothpaste tablets and they worked great and did not count as a liquid they were light and easy to travel with.
That’s a great idea. I’m going to give them a try
Can your life cruised digital planner be resized for a happy planner or other planner?
Hmmm I’m not sure
Ilana, that scissors is too big. I bought an efficient folding one. It’s called Shapenty. Small enough blades to be allowed on flight. I think you’ll like it 😊
Thanks for the tip! I’ll check that out! 🙂 I have brought these on flights and they’ve been fine (I honestly have them since my preschool teaching days 😂)
@ hahaha
Smaller is better! I use the smallest little containers or medicine bags for everything such as hair pastes, creams. I now also pack little single use packs of antibiotic ointment, cortizone cream, ( the Welly brand even sells them) vasoline, sunscreen, toothpaste, mouthwash instead of tubes. Its amazing how little is needed of daily use items for a 3 week trip. Rarely do I need 1oz of anything. And samples are terrific from Sephora or my hairdresser.
Thanks for sharing!! I’ll have to look for those mini sizes
One trick I did for this most recent cruise is that I rolled & taped my underwear like they do in the package when bought new. It took up less space in the packing cube.
