That ending was 🍋
Characters dying when it makes sense isn't a problem. For example: Iida dying makes sense because Deku didn't have OFA and didn't go to Gran Torino's place. Therefore, no one would have been around who knew Iida was acting stupid beforehand, and wouldn't have thought to track him down. It actually made no sense for Shoto and Deku to even see Stain in the alley, since Deku in canon is the reason Shoto even went to the alley.
Now then, the problem with your ending is it makes zero sense. The heroes and even Class 1-A are willing to save Bakugo in canon but not Bakugo AND Deku in this story? That doesn't make sense or line up with their personalities. Even assuming Class 1-A doesn't get involved since Iida is dead and Deku is captured, there were still heroes in that fight. Now then, how does Deku's quirk make him susceptible to mind control? By killing his personality? I do believe that makes zero sense too. If you fry the brain like they wanted to do with Deku, it would just leave a vegetable...not a brain controlled super battery that also has fire powers.
Oh and the biggest flaw in all of this...Eri can reverse time to bring back quirks so why wouldn't she be able to reverse Deku's brain damage?
Look, killing characters and having twists to keep stories interesting and realistic is great. Just not when it comes out of nowhere and isn't logical. Also, you know that people watch these what ifs to see the entire story and how it changes, not suddenly have the protag killed off at what would have been not even halfway through the story. Saying "If you really paid attention, you'd have seen it coming" just comes off as a cop out at that point.
You are right. The story was going fine, but he just had to add stupid twists just to make the story different and ended up making the story total waste 😞.
Most of his what ifs starts really well, but then he just had to make a shitty twist to make the story different and it ends up just making the story terrible and depressing. I don't know what's up with MHA and Naruto what if communities they just like to make the story even more depressing then the canno 😓.
Also, 🤔 it doesn't make much sense for league of villains to kidnap deku because in the original deku had one for all and he used it in the UA sports festival which all for one must have seen but he didn't decide for deku to get captured. In this story deku doesn't even use his quirk in the sports festival and is defeated pretty easily.
But even with all these mistakes this was a decent what if and trust me bro there are far more worse what ifs out there, some were so bad that i lost the will to watch what ifs for a day or two like Anime sage "What narutowas the reincarnation of the sage of six paths" and if you like Naruto don't ever watch this video or you'll regret it. This wasn't his worst what if and he has made some awesome what ifs to like "What If Deku Had A Ghost Quirk"😈.
Thanks for pointing out all those mistakes 🙏🙏. It feels nice that I am not the only who feels something is wrong with this video. Seriously some of the what if creators don't even know the anime that well. They just keep saying "EVERYTHING GOES JUST LIKE IN CANNON" and don't realize most of those "THINGS" happen because of certain interactions that happens with certain characters and the information that these characters have and without some of these factors those things wouldn't even happen

Alternative ending (for people who didn't want to listen for 2 hrs to find out the mc went brain dead): years after izuku went brain dead, LeMillion and lots of other heroes rescue a girl around the age of 10 from the hands of overhaul. After about 2 yrs of therapy and training they ask the girl to use her quirk on a man about 26 yrs old. After the 12 year old used her quirk on him or his brain the man was able to regain his old self. Just like that, Firestorm was back.
