I never get enough
Another swinger from the band - and Joana, gaining in stature with each performance doing a great job with the vocal. Terrific solos from Carla, and Rita and of course Fredrik Norén. The whole band, note-perfect, showing us what they do best ... MUSIC !! - A great Christmas present for all your (and the SAJB) fans ! Thank you, Joan.
How is this band unique? Yesterday, I was watching a video of Alba Armengou sing (and play) "Meditation" by Jobim. I thought to myself, "After the great Andrea, Alba is my favorite SAJB singer." Today, after watching Joana having such a ball swinging with the band, with that distinctive voice, I'm thinking, "Yes, Joana is definitely my favorite SAJB singer." Tomorrow, I'll probably watch a dozen Andrea videos again--and then a few of Rita...oh, hell, they're ALL my favorite!

Joana's singing always makes the day better. What a distinctive voice and style. And dig Rita's solo! That girl never fails to surprise me. I know it's been said many times before, but one of the great things Joan Chamorro has done for his students is to teach them that ensemble work is just as important as being a lead musician or singer. Alba, Joana, or Rita could take the lead one minute, then play support for each other the next. Such a well-rounded education--and I'm sure it prevents the rise of any divas in the band!
Thank you all for the best Xmas present!! Great vocal by Joana and solo by Carla with Rita playing a fabulous solo as only she can. Thank you Joan for all the MUSIC you have provided us with over the years, may you all keep doing it for many a year more, lots of love to you all from Melbourne, Australia.
For me she IS a great singer. The future is today. Joan, as always, you are so great with your jazz band. Brazil is waiting for a visit, speacialy the state of Minas Gerais. Cangrats. Jazz living.

When I hear Chamorro in a big band setting, I’m sure that Duke Ellington and Count Basie would think there will hope for the future if they had heard this. How have Chamorro been able to find all these super talents.
EXACTLY Hans! Truer words have never been written. I've been listening to Joan Chamorro and the SAJB (and its sub-groups) for years now ... to my utter and continuing amazement. The SAJB is like an Easter lily that flowers so magnificently that you can't imagine anything more beautiful, yet you're afraid you'll soon be enjoying the last of it, given how everything goes up ... then falls. BUT then all those many, once-tiny buds start to flower, and before you know it, you're enjoying ANOTHER, fully-formed bit of BLUE HEAVEN.
Something that I do that always works for me (MY way of getting to Blue Heaven, you could say): I'm 73 now, but I've always been a musician -- started classical piano at 6; jazz drumming at my mid-40s; and African and conga drumming in my mid-50s. These days, I only play for my own enjoyment. I put together a small jazz drumming kit ... and a 2-drum conga setup ... and every day I play along with the SAJB. Great fun! I've never been into "drugs", but playing-along this way feels like a marvelous drug to me. I recommend it! And, like the youngest and developing SAJB players and singers, you really do get better with time! (Of course, this is not "practicing". It's "PLAYING", and who doesn't like to play?)
Finally, I must thank Google ... I started using Google when it was no more than a website -- for some reason, if your computer was sluggish, if you visited the Google website; voila, everything was now running great ... anyway, thanks to Google and to its excellent TH-cam service that is helping creative people like Joan Chamorro and the SAJB to share their wonderful and miraculous work ... WORLD-WIDE!

Nice feature for Joana. Carla had a really nice solo, would like to see he smile one in a while, I'll bet she has a great smile. Fantastic solo by Rita, the lip trill was very nice and controlled which is very difficult. Fredrik always sounds awesome, nothing overly fancy, just sitting right in the pocket.

I have been watching these videos of Joan Chamorro working with and leading these young people musically and have enjoyed the outcome of the endeavor...The young people are very talented and there must be a lot of patience from Joan Chamorro to attain such a high degree of excellence in sound and performance... Another top drawer performance. I’m in Barcelona in April and I hope the band is performing. This is reassuring that in a dumbed-down musical world, ( I won’t mention names........that sad list is endless). there are smart, talented, disciplined young people who aspire to make great music.
