We can also go through periods of drought depending on the time of the year and even ice. This video was so helpful and insightful. I learned quite a bit and I just want to say thank you for being so detailed and using visuals. You have a new subscriber and I’m going to apply your advice to quite a few new plants I had outside that had to be cut or dug up and brought inside due to a rare icy/snow event that swept through the southeast. I’ll take notes and see how they progress over the next few months. I’ll be watching more videos now because I want to see what else you’ve shared. Thanks again.

Hi. Thanks. Ya, the sun path does change, you have to observe your sun exposure. Our summer is different, we are humid and hot. Oversea might be hot and dry.
Excellent video👍🏻👍🏻 I’ve never used rice hulls or clay pebbles , but I will start using them . Also will look into ordering the zeolite and maifan stones.
Thank you for sharing your excellent tutorial..will be using pumice from now on instead of perlite.. can’t find those others in my area.. I’m starting to grow & off to a good start.😘😘
I have the same issue.. I’m in Florida. I remember looking for crushed lava rock quite a while back and to my surprise I couldn’t find it. I’m suspecting I’m going to find the same issues with maifan stones and those other rocks. I think I can find Zeolite but I’m confused.. I think there are many different types.. I even see zeolite cat litter 😕.
1. Pumice still does float. Not to the extent that perlite does, but pumice certainly floats. 2. Placing those clay balls on the bottom of the pot before adding the main medium is terrible for healthy root formation. It's a "solution" to a problem that wouldn't exist if one were to simply just use a correctly-sized pot for the plant in the first place. When you use them in order to get "better drainage", what you're doing is raising the water table. That's a sure way to ensure your plant doesn't grow good as good of a root system as it might otherwise. Use a shallower pot (it's always better to be under-potting than over-potting xerophytes like cacti and succulents anyway), use higher inorganics i.e. grit/granite in your mix, or just put a layer of newspaper if the pot's drainage holes are letting fresh potting mixture fall through -- all infinitely better than using those pointless clay balls.
