Don't worry if you don't get everything at first. You should watch each video multiple times until you can follow along without the English subtitles and write down any words you are struggling with. Over time, you'll piece everything together the same way you did with your native language. My goal is to build a complete Cantonese immersion course that will get you to the conversational level. So stay tuned for the next video!

I’m a native Cantonese speaker from HK and I have no idea why this video was recommended to me 😂 It’s great to know that there are people interesting in learning Cantonese and you are doing an excellent job promoting it! We have to protect our language and culture. Keep up the good work!廣東話係唔容易學,但亦係一個好有趣同好好玩嘅語言,希望多啲人認識廣東話。加油!💪

One thing I noticed about all of these channels is that none of them offer CC in colloquial cantonese; which is one of the biggest things I am struggling with finding as a non-chinese learner .. I wish that more channels would do this as it would really help with my comprehension and self-studies.

    • @qrsx66

From 5:47 the samples of 啱 Channel TV she shows have colloquial cantonese (I don't know the channel, if they do it all the time or sometimes only.)

Just discovered your channel, and I love how you put subtitles for everything you say (must have took a long time).
I find them really helpful since there are a lot of slangs in Cantonese but it’s hard to find a good source that shows those characters instead of the formal 汉子 form.

I know how to say the easy phrases but still struggle to understand some phrases. The problem is I got no one to talk to in cantonese outside of my house. I speak hoi ping vah or wah and understand hoi shan vah too. When I was a kid i watch TVB series and as i grow i rarely have to watch it. Recently i was watching Tvb tv shows and i think my canto has improved. Great job with the sub titles!

Great recommendations! I've been following wahlietv for a long time! They're a couple based in LA. They used to have a Cantonese channel but unfortunately haven't been posting on it. Maybe it's a good way for beginners to watch them because they sometimes talk canto and sometimes upload cantonese vlogs still!

Hi Brittany, do you know of any Cantonese channels similar to Stephen Channel? i.e. news and gossip genre. I’m asking for my 97 year old mother in the UK who has difficulty hearing and so hasn’t had success with channels such as memehongkong, Ng Sam, or RTHK, because she finds them hard to understand because they speak unclearly. Stephen Chan is great but she’s exhausted his content. The way you speak is perfect but wrong genre for her. Thx!

Well for international students like myself living in HK and having friends always speak to me in Eng was not helping at all and I was actively seeking vids with canto speaking but with eng sub. SO glad I found your channel. Plz keep on posting. I really wanna sharpen my canto. Cuz understanding of a language is a form of respect in my opinion and it's more fun to understand a friend's mother toungue aswell.
