    Your harvesting is so exciting. To think back to where you were when you first started on the land is amazing. I’ve been working on my yard for many years. Each year it changes and each year I learn more. This year was the year for my best potato harvest and I have 24 big-ish onions drying and more in the ground. My pea harvest was great and I still nibble on fresh peas as I take breaks outside. My rabbits love it when I share. For all the rain you’ve had, your garden is doing well. Good job!! I’m all caught up on your videos - I enjoyed them very much. Thank you for sharing

      Congratulations on your potato harvest and those onions! I am very proud of my ugly little onions but know where I could improve next year (and also: please, can we stop having too much water here, thanks...). I've been munching on snack peas for a few garden visits myself. They make great snacks!
      You caught up! Does this mean things have calmed a bit on your end? Glad you liked them!

    Here in the upper midwest U.S. we have been getting double and triple the normal rainfall. Last year it was drought and my garden performed poorly. This year I have to hope my potatoes aren't rotting underground. On the plus side, my grass has never looked greener and my new River Birch tree is thriving! Thank you for your videos. I always enjoy them.

      Good for you to see the bright side. :)
      We have had a month worth of rain come down in a few hours but the scary bit is that we have had 150% of the normal average rain for 18 months now. Everything's soaked.

    I had to begin to pull my garlic and onions early as well. Will finish tomorrow. The rain here has been relentless. In less than one week we had 9.5 inches or 241 ml. I lost much to rot and need to hold back garlic to plant again.
    Some of the "rescued" garlic I will dehydrate and powder for spices. The onion I will freeze and also dehydrate. I don't think any of it will store. I hope tomorrow the rest of the harvest will be better. I
    I enjoy seeing how our weather and garden experience seem to parallel. Be well from Canada 🇨🇦

      It was a bad gardening year for us here. My garden seems to be doing best, and it's not in the greatest shape. My Irish beds seem to be rescuing my potatoes while the neighbors are complaining about them rotting. I seem to be one of the only one to have gotten garlic and onions at all in the gardens surrounding mine. And my harvest wasn't great at all.
      I have the exact same feeling about the garden experience when I watch anything from the UK at the moment. The gardening world of the Northern Hemisphere seems to be split into two camps: drought and flood. And yet, somehow, people don't see the climate crisis as urgent enough to deal with. This is climate change in our faces. Extreme weather gets more common. I hope humanity wakes up very soon.

      @@RootsandCalluses Unfortunately, it will have to cause a significant dent in world economy for those who have the power to take the steps necessary to start a global change to begin healing our planet.
      However, I doubt my contributions to reducing our carbon foot print are affecting world profit margins. But I am trying and am teaching my kids and grandkids to be better stewards. I hope. Be well from Canada 🇨🇦

    Is the amount of rain you are receiving normal for the area?

    • @RootsandCalluses
      @RootsandCalluses 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No. We have had 150% of the normal rain for the past 18 months and very heavy rainfall in the last few.
